Chapter 1: Dissapearing Mist

A vicious wind blew through the usually serene lands of Thyrza. The trees almost bent over as the piercing howl of a wolf screeching throughout the plains of the land. The moon shone brightly high atop the trees, illuminating dangerous shadows as the wind only grew stronger.

Villagers of Thyrza locked themselves in their houses, wanting the villainous night to fade away into the soon to be rising sun, but they knew that it wouldn't. This happened… every sixth month of the year moon rotation this happened. The rip between the worlds opened up during these nights and the wind from the dark and unholy world that stood parallel to theirs breached into their untainted territory.

The Wolf. People assumed the Wolf to be sacred to the world that was parallel to theirs. Every time the rip between the worlds would open, a shriek from a wolf would be heard echoing through the lands. A swift gust of wind and the fading sound of a wolf. It was something that everyone knew was coming. They were accustomed to it.

Children huddled to their mothers, fear striking their bodies as the wind rushed past their houses. The wind signaled the danger that was brought from the Realm that was parallel to them.

The Ookami Lord, the lord that rose to power in that world always wanted to strike fear upon the ones that resided in the nation of Japan, especially Thyrza.

Why Thyrza?

Because she was there…

--

The sun rose, after the destruction of the night. Trees were cracked to one side; carts were tilted and shattered across yards. Roofs caved in and some houses looked as if they were to collapse. That was the punishment for living in Thyrza- however; the punishment was once every six months- it was nothing compared to the great King and Queen that ruled the land.

“Why does he do this?” King Fujitaka bellowed to his advisors as the sun started to climb, slowly, overtop the mountains that surrounded Thyrza. He tapped his foot impatiently. “He has his own realm! He has his own country! Why is he bothering us of the nation of Japan?”

“Here,” One of his advisors pointed in a very wrinkled up and torn parchment.

“What is it?” Fujitaka asked, his eyes narrowing. He leaned forward in his seat as the advisor, who was named Kazuma Jin, started reading.

“It is believed that the world is parallel to another realm,” Jin started, “the Earth Realm, the realm we reside in and the Ookami Realm. The Ookami realm, as relevant to its name, is ruled mostly by the Wolves. Wolf packs run as the security and the Alpha male in the pack is a human being, the Ookami Leader.”

“So?” Fujitaka grew impatient.

Jin continued. “The Ookami leader, every six months, having the power to open a portal between the worlds, does so. He is in search of a woman- not just any woman but the woman. His lineage of people has been surviving in a very traditional manner. It is traced back to a few hundred years ago that their first born is always a son and that son is always destined to a woman from our realm. When their time comes they must tear open the time space continuum and find the one they are destined for.”

“And how do they do that?” Fujitaka asked.

“It doesn't say sire,” Jin breathed, “but it does say here near the end of the passage,” Jin pointed to the last paragraph, “that his wife must have a magical background.”

Fujitaka raised a brow. “Magical background?”

Jin nodded. “Yes,” He said handing the page to Fujitaka. Fujitaka glanced over the parchment and handed back to Jin. “And what is this passage called exactly?”

“Historians,” Jin started, “claim it to be the legend of Li Syaoran.”

“Li Syaoran?”

Jin nodded. “Nobody knows, but according to Legend, the Ookami Realm's leader is Li Syaoran,” Jin's voice dropped an octave, “and they say that whoever looks into his eyes, they see their death flash in them.”

--

A dainty princess awoke, yawning the remainder of the sleep out of her. She rubbed her eyes and got out of her bed, walking slowly to the window. She slightly pushed the drapes aside and gasped as she saw the rubble scattered throughout Thyrza.

Oh my- the portal between the Realms opened last night. She thought, remorse striking through her body. She sighed sadly as she turned around and found her personal handmaid. “Tomoyo,” She smiled as the maid, Tomoyo, walked towards her with a robe in her hands.

It was ancient times in the nation of Japan where a royalty ruled over the land. In the Land of Thyrza, located in the nation of Japan, in the Domain of Tokyo, King Fujitaka ruled with his son, Prince Touya and daughter, Princess Sakura. His wife, Queen Nadesiko, died shortly after Sakura was born into the world.

“Had a good nights rest, my Lady?” Tomoyo asked as Sakura sat on the bed while Tomoyo stood before her.

“It was- pleasant.” Sakura rolled her eyes. “I do not like the whole Realm thing between our world and theirs Tomoyo.” Sakura sighed. “It scares me to think that a man in that world is doing all this.”

“Don't tell your father, my lady,” Tomoyo started, “but I had overheard your father and his advisors speaking.”

Sakura raised a brow as she patted the bed beside her. Her and Tomoyo were more like friends than Mistress and Lady.

“Apparently a man in that other world creates these portals to find a potential bride. She must have magic, though,” Tomoyo tapped her chin, “that is for certain. But he opens these portals so he can, once every six months, have a quick search through our lands to find his bride.”

“And how does he know it is her?” Sakura raised a brow.

“I do not know,” Tomoyo murmured sheepishly, “I left before they spoke of that. However, the parchment that Jin was reading off of was called the Legend of Li Syaoran.”

Sakura furrowed her eye brows. “Li Syaoran?” She repeated.

“Yes, my Lady.” Tomoyo said standing up. “Now, you must take your bath.”

Sakura laughed as she followed Tomoyo into the bathroom, Tomoyo preparing her bath.

--

“By the powers of the Sun, Moon, Earth, Stars and the Elements of our world,” whispered a deadly voice, “I command the Gods to tear the barrier between the Ookami Realm and Earth Realm. A black smoke stirred around him as his dark black cape flew out behind him, “I command the Goddesses to create a blistering wind to tear upon the Earth Realm. A gust of shattering wind flew past his shoulder and straight into the black smoke that billowed around him, “And I command the Angels to create a wolfish howl to execute throughout the lands of Thyrza, in the Domain of Tokyo in the Nation of Japan located in the Earth Realm. I command the Heavenly Beings to come to my aid and bring her, the Princess, to me- Light… know my plight- release the light!”

A beam of light shot out of forefinger and entered the smoky clouds.

“I've got you now,” he sneered, “Princess Sakura.”

--

Sakura exited the upper level in her castle wearing a creamy white kimono. Her hair was tied up in a loose wet bun as she walked downstairs, Tomoyo close behind her.

“Want to travel through the village today?” Sakura murmured to Tomoyo, “I feel terrible for the villagers.”

“If you wish,” Tomoyo whispered back. Sakura nodded as she glanced at the nearest maid, “Kitty,” She called, “tell Takashi to get a carriage ready. Tomoyo and I are going through the village today.”

The maid, Kitty, nodded as she scurried off. Sakura giggled as she climbed down the rest of the steps, Tomoyo remaining close behind her. They walked to Fujitaka's conference room, where they were now discussing battle plans upon the Lands of Origami, north to their very own Land of Thyrza.

“Sakura,” Fujitaka smiled as his daughter walked into the conference room.

“Father,” Sakura bowed with Tomoyo too, bowing behind her.

“How are you this fine morning, my daughter?” Fujitaka asked.

“Fine? Father, the portal opened last night and you call this morning fine?” Sakura raised a brow, confused at her fathers choice of words.

“Oh- but it is fine.” Fujitaka smiled. “Your brother, Prince Touya, has captured the Princess of the Origami lands and she is currently under our custody.”

Sakura nodded, not really caring about what was happening between the war in the lands of Tokyo. She merely nodded with Tomoyo trying to contain her laughter behind her.

“Father, Tomoyo and I are going out to the land to see to the villagers. I do feel terrible.” Sakura said, sympathy lacing her voice. Fujitaka nodded as he turned back to his generals.

“Do as you please, daughter.” Fujitaka said as he continued his meeting. Sakura turned around, winked at Tomoyo, and started walking out, Tomoyo following close behind.

They left the parameters of the castle and were mounted in their carriage when Sakura let out a breath of relief. “That was so hard!” She squealed. “I definitely do not like palace life.”

Tomoyo rolled her eyes. Tomoyo was, indeed, Sakura's best friend. Within the castle, they had to make it clear that they were just mistress and servant, but out of the castle, they were more like sisters, and Sakura appreciated that relationship.

“You pretend to care about Lord Fujitaka's plans, just tell him you don't want to hear about the best kill or the best capture.” Tomoyo laughed.

“Then he'll started saying how I should care about these things, I am the future queen and this and that and oh! Tomoyo it's so difficult.”

Tomoyo raised a brow. “Sakura,” Tomoyo said, out of the palace, Sakura insisted Tomoyo address her by name only, “you marry off and become Queen of whatever land you marry to… not the Land of Thyrza.”

“Tell that to father.”

“He'd have my head.”

“That's what we're all scared of.”

“Except Jin.”

“Except Jin,” Sakura agreed and the two girls fell into a fit of giggles.

“Where to first, Madam?” Takashi said, poking his head in through a window.

“Daidouji hut, please.” Sakura commanded. Tomoyo leaned back in her seat. “I miss mother.”

“I miss her too!” Sakura giggled. “Always get some of her buttermilk when I drop by- your mother has the best buttermilk in all of Japan, Tomoyo.”

“Don't I know it.” Tomoyo grinned as the carriage took off.

--

A wolf with a soft grey coat bowed in front of a rather tall man. The man, bearing intense amber eyes and a tousle of chocolate brown hair, crossed his arms, his cape bellowing behind him. He held out his left hand and pointed it towards the northern territory.

“Go there,” He whispered, in a deadly voice, “I want the Ookami Realm surrounded.”

The wolf barked as he ran off, his pack following him. The Ookami Leader sneered as he held a gold pendant in his hands. The pendant had a gold lining around a pink diamond. He let it fall between his index and thumb, the gold chain hanging off of his thumb.

“I'm waiting you,” He whispered, “Princess of the Clow.”

--

The carriage stopped and a medium height man opened the door, helping the Princess and her attendant out. Sakura had her arms in her kimono sleeves as Tomoyo stood beside her, staring at the small hut before them.

“Thank god your hut wasn't touched by the Ookami winds last night.” Sakura murmured.

Tomoyo nodded in agreement as they started walking towards the hut. Sakura made it very clear to all of the carriage drivers that if and when she gets off the carriage to communicate with the villagers, word should never spread to her father. Her father disliked royalty talking with the commoners but Sakura appreciated them for what they do for her father.

Her father only talked to the villagers under extreme circumstances. Tomoyo jumped. “I forgot the money I brought for mother in the carriage.”

Sakura giggled as she ushered her to go. “Go get them, I'll go greet your mother.”

Tomoyo nodded as she started walking back to the carriage. Sakura turned around and started to walk towards hut. She felt a twinge deep in her heart and she frowned.

Magic, she thought. She looked in every direction but couldn't pinpoint where the aura was coming from. Her frown deepened as the aura got stronger. She, slowly, kept on walking towards the Daidouji hut. She, however, failed to realize the mist of fog gathering under her legs.

“Here,” Tomoyo said as she walked up beside Sakura. Sakura smiled. “Half your earnings goes to your mother, correct?”

“Yes.”

Sakura smiled again. “You're lucky you have a mother,” she murmured sadly.

Tomoyo didn't know what to say so she remained quiet. The two kept on walking when Sakura felt the ground underneath her legs become unusually moist.

“What the-” she looked down and her eyes widened.

“TOMOYO!” She shrieked. A black cloud started engulfing her. “TAKASHI!” Tomoyo cried as he ran up to them. His eyes widened as he wrapped his arms around Sakura's waist. Her arms linked behind his shoulder and he heaved, but to no avail. Sakura was rooted.

“Get me out!” Sakura sobbed, tears building up behind her eyes. Due to the commotion, Sonomi Daidouji, Tomoyo's mother, rushed out, fear striking her eyes.

“Dear lord! Princess Sakura!” She cried as she ran back in to call her husband, Kazuko. An elderly man with graying hair ran out, fear locked in his eyes. The black cloud worked its way up and was now at the hips of Sakura.

“Please! Get me out!”

The commotion attracted many more villagers and they were all trying to get their Princess free from this unusual circumstance.

“CALL THE KING!” A voice rung and a few villagers started running towards the castle, a few on their horses.

Sakura's eyes widened as she glanced down, her body was starting to mist out. “WINDY!” Sakura shrieked. A pink rectangle glowed before fading out… Sakura's fear went up. My cards don't work!

“She's disappearing! Everybody, get her out!” Takashi called as he went behind Sakura and locked his arms from behind her. “I apologize if this hurts.” He whispered in her ear and he pulled with all his might. A spark of electricity electrocuted between him and Sakura and Takashi shot backwards.

Kazuko's eyes widened as he went forth to try, but he was electrocuted and shot back a few feet.

“PRINCESS!” Tomoyo cried, dropping the pouch of money.

“GET BACK!” Sakura cried, tears streaming down her eyes but Tomoyo came forward and was electrocuted. Tomoyo fell to the ground, unconscious. The mist that was making Sakura disappear worked its way up to her shoulders and now only her head was showing.

“PRINCESS SAKURA!” A soldier from the main castle shrieked as he ran towards her. It was too late, just as he arrived to where she as- she totally disappeared.

“PRINCESS!”

--

Sakura fell onto cold, dew covered grass. She moaned as she stood up, staring at her surroundings. She walked, slowly, in one direction in a forest like area. She saw light streaming in from one end of the deep forest and she started running. In less then two seconds she exited the forest, her eyes widening.

Before her was some sort of Eden.

A waterfall was to her left, a great field to her right- and just past the horizon… a castle…

Where am I? she thought as she kept on walking, curiosity engulfing her.

“This is definitely not Thyrza…” She murmured, wondering where on earth she could be.
