Chapter 14: Queen Sakura
--

Time to find Sakura.

--

Touya started roaming the Ookami realm, trying to keep a feel of the entire atmosphere in the first night he was present in the Ookami Realm. It was night so no action was seen and Touya was glad. He had to find his sister within the next two days or else…

Well he didn't know what followed the or else but Touya knew that if he didn't bring back his sister then her life would be ruined.

At least that's what stated in the first Chronicle of the Ookami Realm when his beloved mother and her best friend were pulled straight into the Ookami Realm. Nadesiko didn't make it out till five years later but Yelan was still in this world.

This… realm?

Touya noted how calm and serene everything looked. He was pulled into a forest a bit past a village that was at the base of Syaoran's castle.

The same castle Sakura was in at the moment.

Glancing back at the portal, Touya etched some familiar landmarks so that he could return quickly back here when he found his sister.

Pointy rock. Large oak tree… small stream. That should be enough… Touya told himself as he slowly started walking, his steps creating a crunching sound on the earth. Ten days, Touya had exactly ten days to find Sakura, defeat the King and return back to his realm.

Good luck me…

--

Sakura shivered awake. The night was cold and she only had a thin blanket warming her. The moon was high in the sky and Sakura sat up in her bed, running her fingers through her tangled hair. Stepping off of the bed, she wrapped the blanket around her body and moved to leave her bedroom.

Falling back to sleep was the last thing she wanted to do at the moment. Walking outside of her bedroom, Sakura made it to Syaoran's bedroom and slowly creaked the door open. Instantly, the strong scent of him filled Sakura's nose, making tears form in the corner of her eyes. Walking to his balcony, Sakura pushed the door open and walked to the railing, leaning over it.

She watched the entire Ookami realm from where Syaoran usually stood. She saw small lights in the nearby village. She saw the quiet courtyard, the empty racetrack and some late night servants cleaning.

Sakura saw the stable off to the side where the horses slept and saw a small well present beside the stable.

This is where Syaoran stands… Sakura thought, a single tear sliding down her face. If she left back home then Syaoran would be beheaded and probably that Jin Tai character would stand where Sakura was standing at the moment, evilly smiling as he destroyed the realm.

Based on the attack Sakura went through the previous day, she figured Jin Tai was not a good guy. Another tear streaked down her face as she pictured a bloody and battered Syaoran fighting away…

A hurt Syaoran, trying to defend his realm…

A… dead Syaoran?

Sakura snapped her eyes shut, the tears coming faster. She wiped her cheeks ferociously as she opened her eyes again, trying to blink back the tears. Please be okay… she thought. If Syaoran died then he had no wife to carry on his name, no heir, no sibling…

The only one that could take the Realm would be Jin Tai since Sakura was just being courted and was not officially Syaoran's bride. Tightening the blanket around her, Sakura sighed loudly, wanting to know why she was caught up in this web of complications.

She felt her star key hanging around her neck and figured she hadn't used her magic in a long time. But that wasn't possible, to practice her magic, since Syaoran had sealed it off.

The only reason he sealed off my magic is because he fears that I might go home. Sakura thought to herself. I might go home and leave him to be executed…

Syaoran would rather send Sakura home herself instead of letting her run away. Die a man. Die with honour…

Gripping her hold on the railing, Sakura didn't fight the tears that came down her cheeks. She wanted Syaoran here.

Wanted Syaoran beside her.

Wanted Syaoran talking to her.

Joking with her.

Telling her that she was his future wife…

She wanted Syaoran holding her.

Trying to stop the chocking sobs that came from the back of her throat, Sakura would've never guessed she would've missed and worried about Syaoran so much. Just the thought of him dying sent shivers up her spine. Made her hairs stand on end.

Please be okay. Just… please come back alive and I promise you I'll be here… Sakura silently pleaded as she stared off in the horizon.

Something then caught her eye. A carriage… a carriage was riding it's way to the castle.

Who's coming at this time of night? Sakura thought as she squinted, trying to figure out who was in the carriage…

Instantly she saw the King's flag hanging on the carriage and her heart stopped beating. Her grip on the railing loosened as she saw the object of her thoughts ride up to the castle in a carriage…

“Syaoran…” She whispered as she tore away from his balcony, racing downstairs to greet him.

“Syaoran!”

--

Syaoran had fallen asleep in the carriage and Ryu hadn't had the heart to wake up him. He told the driver to go really slowly, as to not disturb Syaoran and the driver had nodded. Syaoran's wounds were serious, he was bleeding head to toe and yet he hadn't wanted medical attention.

What he did want was the Princess Sakura.

Ryu smiled to himself for his cousin's sake. He truly did care for that woman if he wanted to see her before treating his wounds. The carriage hit a bump in the road and Syaoran shook awake.

Ryu cursed silently. “Awake?”

Syaoran frowned as he looked around at his surroundings. “How long was I asleep for, Ryu?”

“Since we left the other castle…”

“And we aren't back at my castle yet?” Syaoran asked, frowning deeply. It hurt to frown even. Syaoran wanted to shift to make himself feel comfortable but his body was aching, he was bleeding and he wanted to see his Lady.

“I told the driver to go slowly.” Ryu spoke slowly and Syaoran shot his cousin a dangerous glare.

“Why?”

“As to not wake you up. If you don't want proper treatment, fine, but you at least need your sleep so you won't topple over Sakura when you arrive home.”

Syaoran frowned but said nothing. About five minutes later, the driver called out: “We're pulling up to the castle, sirs!”

Syaoran glanced out the window and saw that indeed it was his familiar lands. “Finally.”

Ryu merely smiled.

--

“How long do you think it'll take Touya?” Takashi asked Eriol who sighed.

“More than ten days, that's for sure. If the Ookami lord wishes to take Princess Sakura to be his bride then he's gonna put up a fight.”

“What happens if Touya doesn't come out in ten days?”

“He's locked in the Realm.”

“Oh crap,” Takashi frowned, “if he's stuck there then… he's in enemy grounds…”

“And the Ookami Lord can kill him.” Eriol nodded. A knock on the door signaled that their drinks and refreshments were ready. It was Tomoyo.

“Come in,” Eriol smiled as she walked inside with a tray of rice, mashed potatoes and chicken. There were also two goblets of wine.

“How are you two?” Tomoyo questioned and Eriol sighed.

“Not the best… I just wish Touya-san had his magic.”

Tomoyo nodded small as she put the food down and left the room. Takashi and Eriol turned back to the portal.

“I hope he makes it.” Takashi gulped and Eriol nodded somberly.

“Me too, Takashi.”

--

The carriage stopped and Ryu stepped out first. He then helped his cousin get out of the carriage. Shaking Ryu off of him, Syaoran stood with much effort. Turning around, he faced his castle with a grim look on his face.

“We're home…” Syaoran muttered as he took a step. Just as he took one step away from the carriage, the front gates opened and Syaoran's eyes widened seeing Sakura, in her night kimono with a blanket wrapped around her, run outside.

Ryu hid his smile.

“Sakura…” Syaoran whispered as Sakura stopped a foot in front of Syaoran. She looked, slowly, at all of Syaoran, from head to toe. She winced at a few cuts he had.

Syaoran noted that Sakura's eyes were red and her cheeks had tear stains on them. Sakura spoke finally, her voice broken.

“Why?” She whispered. “Why'd you send me back?”

“I didn't want you getting hurt…” Syaoran murmured in the same tone Sakura was using. Ryu nodded to the driver and both of them quietly walked into the palace, knowing that Sakura and Syaoran needed some time alone.

Sakura frowned. “Hurt? If you returned my magic I could've helped you!”

Syaoran had said nothing. He couldn't return her powers to her… he hoped Wei and Zhia had explained to her why…

“And don't think I would've run away if you returned my powers.” Sakura whispered softly, causing Syaoran to look up at her with surprise.

Again, tears started running down Sakura's as she looked Syaoran in the eyes. Slowly, she took a step forward and ran her fingers over a cut he had. He winced, as it stung on contact and Sakura instantly withdrew her hand. Sighing sadly, she, carefully, wrapped her arms around his shoulders and rested her head on his chest, not caring if he was dirty and bloody.

That took Syaoran off guard.

“Don't ever do that again,” She whispered as Syaoran's arm came around her waist, hugging her close to him. “Don't ever leave me alone with fear that you might be dead. I thought…” Sakura closed her eyes. “I thought you died… you know how scary that thought is? The only person I know… I care about in this realm… dead…”

Syaoran's heart beat increased as Sakura pulled back slightly, tears staining her face. Syaoran brought up his good hand and wiped it away, making Sakura laugh sadly.

“But you're alive. And that's all that matters.”

Syaoran tilted his head to the side. “So… does this mean what I think it means?”

Sakura smiled shyly at him… “It means… you have to promise me you'll never leave me and make me worry like that… ever again.”

Chuckling, Syaoran wrapped his arm around her shoulder and Sakura's hand went around his back to support him. Slowly, they started walking to the castle.

“On one condition.” He said and Sakura looked up at him.

“And that is?”

“You have to promise that you'll never leave me…”

Sakura giggled. “You are helpless without me. Why, on the sake of your Ookami Realm, would I even consider leaving?”

Syaoran's heart started racing even faster. So she knew that his life and the realm depended on her… Syaoran had hoped she was staying for him and not for the sake of the Realm…

“Not for the Realm's sake, Sakura.” Syaoran said seriously. “For my sake… I don't… want you to leave…”

Sakura glanced at him before looking straight ahead again. “Wei and Zhia told me.” She slowly said. “And I admit I was shocked. They also told me that you'd let me leave if I wanted to.”

“Yes,” Syaoran whispered, “I would.”

“But I've become attached. I believe in fate and destiny and I believe that I was brought here with a plan.” Smiling at Syaoran, Sakura continued, “I'm just way too attached to my King to let him go on life without me.”

“So are you saying what I think you're saying?” Syaoran raised a brow, amusement filling him.

“I'm saying that I'm staying. Only if you promise you don't run off acting heroic and trying to save your… our Realm… that's why we have warriors.”

Our Realm… that echoed in Syaoran's mind as he tightened his hold on her.

“Fine. You have yourself a deal.”

“Good.” Sakura smiled. “Because even if you didn't agree, I would've chained you to your bed and not let you leave to do something so dangerous.”

“But I'm King! If I don't go… who will?”

“The thousands of warriors you have in your land?” Sakura stated dryly and Syaoran laughed.

As they stepped into the castle, Syaoran looked down at his Princess. “Welcome home,” he whispered down at her, “Queen Sakura…”
