Chapter 32: “???, ???, ??! ??! ???????!”
Hikari, Takeru, Daisuke! Modore! Korosarechimau zo!”
Hikari, Takeru, Daisuke! Come back here! You'll be killed!” A Change of Heart!

Back in the human world…

“Please, try to remain calm,” Ms. Takaishi said, while trying to ease the woes of some of the other parents.

Mrs. Chiu, as well as Mrs. Akihabara, was gulping down cup after cup of coffee, still trying to grasp onto the reality of the situation.

“Let me get this straight,” Mrs. Akihabara began, holding her head in her hands stressfully, “my daughter is in some strange world where a bunch of monsters live?” The woman lifted up her head displeased. “Am I the only person here, who finds something wrong with this situation!!”

“Where in the world do you come up with such things!” demanded a now irate Mrs. Chiu. “How can our children be in another world?!”

“It's happened before,” Mrs. Yagami explained as best she could. “The first time it happened, it was about…five years ago.”

“I don't care!!!” Mrs. Akihabara rose from her seat and began to pace around frantically. “This isn't making any sense to me!! How can I tell my husband, and sons, that our daughter was taken to another world?!”

“When will my Meihui come home?”

“That's the only bad thing about this situation,” Mrs. Izumi answered hazily, her mind currently elsewhere, as she too was really worried, “we don't exactly know.” Even though the parents of the Chosen Children understood the situation fine, they still couldn't help but be worried like the Chiu family and Mrs. Akihabara. The main difference was that the other parents knew that they had to be strong for the “newcomers”.

Momoe and Jun were both in deep discussion over all that was going on, when they noticed the dark-haired Malissa, staring distantly out the window. She looked to be really down and lost. Both went to greet her.

“Malissa, right?” Jun questioned. She nodded slowly.

“What's the matter?” Momoe asked.

“I'm just so worried about Jou-san,” she sighed. “I just don't understand this `Digital World' stuff.”

“Oh, there's nothing to worry about,” Jun told her with a warm, comforting smile.

“Yeah, this happened before,” Momoe stared out the window, and saw a car zoom by, “but it seems like they were taken back against their will this time. I'm sure they would have mentioned something if it was planned, so that they wouldn't worry everyone.”

“See, my brother and the others, were all given the responsibility to protect that world, so that nothing bad will happen to ours.”

Malissa could only shrug. Even though Jun gave a pretty simple explanation as to what purpose their being taken to the Digital World was, it still didn't make much sense to her. What exactly was the Digital World? How were they chosen? Why were they chosen? Why did they have to be taken back in such a scary way? Jou's being pulled into a book was just unnerving to her.

“Listen to them; they know what they're talking about,” a blue-haired man assuredly replied, walking up to the trio.

Jun smiled dreamily at the handsome university student. “See, Shuu-senpai isn't worried, so that means you don't have to worry, Malissa-san.”

Malissa forced on a smile, grateful for the three trying to comfort her, but she still was a bit worried. She stared out the window once again. “Is it just me, or does a storm seem to be coming? It's getting a bit dark out. It almost seems unnatural.”

The other three looked out the window alongside her. It was a bit dark for it being late afternoon for that time of the year. “What if something has gone wrong!!” Malissa panicked. “What if they can't come home?! What if…” The more and more the girl worried, her thoughts negative, as was Meihui's parents and Mrs. Akihabara, the darker it seemed to become outside.

“Malissa-san, please, calm down,” Shuu told her, while trying to get her back to a normal state of mind. “I assure you that my brother and everyone else are fine.” She still looked doubtful, and sighed again. Her face had grown quite forlorn, and her eyes teary. He shook his head over the distraught girl, and turned to Momoe and Jun. “You two take care of her,” he instructed. “I have to go make a call.”

The two nodded, as he walked off to a secluded area. It was quite noisy in the station. He pulled out his mobile and sped dialed a familiar number…

“Hello?” a woman answered. She was riding in a taxi.

“Um, hello?” Shuu greeted in confusion. “I think I may have dialed the wrong numb--”

“Oh, no you didn't,” the relaxed-sounding woman interrupted. To Shuu, if it was possible, she sounded quite pretty. Her voice was beautiful, even if she did come across as being laid-back. “Are you Kido Shuu-kun?”

`Wow…she's quite forward,' the boy thought. “Yes, I am.”

“Hi there,” she greeted cheerfully. “Masayuki Kitsune is the name.”

“Oh, Masayuki-san! You're my older brother's girlfriend. Nice to speak with you.”

“Same here but quit with the formalities. Kitsune works fine.”

“Oh-okay, Kitsune-san.”

“Now, isn't that better,” she asked him sweetly.

“I-I suppose so,” he answered tensely, his face slightly red. If she had that type of an effect on him over the phone, he could only dread how he would act around her in person. “May I please speak with my brother, Kitsune-san?”

“Sure thing. Shin-chan, phone for you…”

`Shin-chan?' Shuu sweat dropped. `Of all the pet names to openly use…'

The slimmest, and shortest, oldest Kido brother took the phone, his look equivalent to that of his brother's. He hated it when she used “Shin-chan” in public. He didn't care for it, since it made him think of Crayon Shin-chan. “Hey there, bro.”

“Hey there,” Shuu sniggered, “`Shin-chan'. You haven't caused any mischief lately, have you?”

“Oh shut up,” he groaned. “What's going on? It's getting all dark out and everything, like a storm is coming, and I don't remember anything in the forecast calling for storms. Kitsune and I just got here, and are on our way now. You guys are at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Center, right?”

“Yeah, we're still here, but no need to worry.”

“What do you mean?”

“I couldn't get you earlier, but I just thought I'd let you know what's going on. I guess you were still flying in.”

“I really don't feel it was all that good an idea to have Jou live by him self,” Shin muttered.

“On the contrary, I think it's a great idea! He's 17 now; why not? I was pretty much on my own when I was his age. All of us pretty much were…” he trailed off.

“But he's just a child.”

“Why do you always find ways to baby us!” Shuu argued defensively. “We can take care of ourselves fine! Jou is very independent and very responsible for his age. He always has been. You told both Jou and me, for us to follow our own paths, and to not do things just to benefit others if we are not happy, and yet, you sit there and contradict yourself by saying Jou should be living at home with mom and dad.”

“Okay, okay. I'm sorry! I'm just worried about Jou! You can't blame me for that, can you?”

“No, I don't blame you for that, and I was just as frantic as you are now when I first got here, but, he's been living by himself for almost two years now, but we'll talk about that later. We know where Jou is.”

“You're serious!!”

“Yeah.”

“That's great!! Where is he? Was he kidnapped? Did the police arrest the kidnappers?”

“Well, um…yes and no. He was taken back.”

“Taken back?” Shin asked in confusion. “Taken back where?”

“To the Digital World.”

“The Digital World!?” Shin was shocked that Jou of all people would do something so inconsiderate. “He just got up and left like that just to take a little rendezvous to the Digital World?” Shin stopped and thought for a brief moment, when he realized something. “Wait, you just said he was kidnapped.”

“Well, I did say `yes and no'. He just disappeared right in his school. He didn't have to work after school last night, so he was doing some research for a project. He's not the only one missing, either. His friends are missing too, and they are all Chosen Children who disappeared in strange ways, not counting a couple of kids, but they must have some connection to Digimon if they were taken along with them.

“Apparently, something is going on in the Digital World, and various gates opened up all over Odaiba to take them back to correct the problem. We can only hope that this isn't too much for them this time.”

“This is unbelievable. Do mom and dad know about it?”

“Both are out of town right now. They took a trip to Hawaii. I haven't talked to them about it yet.”

“When are you going to?”

“Why bother telling them at all?” Shuu replied indignantly. To Shin, Shuu sounded a tad bit bitter. Between him and his younger brother, Shuu always seemed to have slight resentment towards their parents, hence his somewhat rebellious nature. “By the time they get back, Jou will more than likely be back. Why worry them when it isn't necessary? They probably didn't even see the broadcast on it. I don't think it's made the international news yet either, so they probably won't see it.”

“I guess you're right. It's strange that every time something crazy happens like this, those two aren't around. Either they're on vacation, or either dad's stuck at the hospital.

“Anyway, I'll see you in a bit. It's not often I get to see Jou or you for that matter.”

“Alright. See you later,” he laughed, “*`Shin-chan', and don't scare anyone or Kitsune-san by doing the `elephant dance'.”

“Remind me to hurt you when I see you,” Shin threatened with a sweat drop. The slender man hanged up the phone, trying to think of ways to get back at his stocky younger brother.

“I couldn't help but hear,” the young, dark-violet-haired woman began as she scooted closer to him, “but what's the Digital World?”

“It's a long story,” he told her. “I hope you don't mind sitting through one.”

She grasped his arm lovingly, and stared up into his dark eyes. “Go ahead,” she told him with a smile.

Before he could start his story, though, the driver of the taxi they were riding in temporarily lost control, but the driver regained control as quickly as possible.

“What's wrong? What happened?” Kitsune nearly shouted at the driver.

“I'm sorry; I got a bit distracted by those lights up in the sky.”

“The sky? You should really keep your eye on the road!”

Annoyed with Shin's tone, the driver uncharacteristically snapped, “Look, I'm sorry kid. Just look up there for yourself.”

Kitsune and Shin did just that; three strangely shaped lights, were lighting up the unnaturally dark sky. “What the…”

“A movie is probably being filmed someplace,” Kitsune insisted, anxious to here Shin's story. “Now, can you please explain to me about the Digital World?”

“Those lights,” Shin remained fixated on the three shapes, “just don't seem natural somehow. That can't be from a movie…”

Shin-chan!!”

“Oh, sorry. You wanted to hear the story. Well, it all began in the summer of 1999 when my parents sent my youngest brother, Jou, up to the Mikami Keikoku campgrounds, where his life changed forever…”
****
“Hey everyone, look!” Chizuru called, while pointing out the window of the station. “Something is going on.”

“Where are those lights coming from?” Mrs. Motomiya asked.

“Those other two lights look like it's lighting up the other one,” Mrs. Yagami stated while studying the three strangely shaped lights.

“Yeah, like it's helping that one shape, to stand out from the others,” Momoe concurred.

“But where is it coming from?” Ms. Takaishi wondered.

“It must be the children,” Mr. Ishida concluded. `They're definitely in some type of a battle…I can feel it.'

Back to the Chosen Children…

“Why are you doing this, Demon?” Taichi asked. “If all you can stand is darkness and negativity, then why not go back to the Dark Digital World?”

“I'd rather not. That world is quite dull. I like traveling to different places, and I found your world to be quite interesting as well.”

Agumon grew irritated, and used his “Baby Flame” on Demon, who took in the weak, fireball like it was nothing. “Such a feeble attempt,” he laughed. “You children, as well as your Digimon, are in way over your heads. I should have killed you all when you first arrived here, instead of having those flunkies do it, and that worthless Nohemon!! I paid him for nothing!” He pointed his long finger at Eiji and Iori. “Those two are still live, and I specifically ordered Nohemon to get rid of those two first since they're the youngest of you all!”

“Do…not…harm…them…” Rosemon begged, limping towards the Demon Lord Digimon.

“Silence!!” His voice rumbled dangerously, as he used “Chaos Flare” again. Rosemon gave out a scream, as the attack caused her to fly back, bouncing hard on the ground.

“Leave her alone!!” shouted Mimi.

“I'll use this attack on you next, child!”

Mimi rushed to Rosemon's side, cradling her head in her lap, while tears flooded her pure, innocent eyes. “How can you be so cruel and heartless?!”

“I don't have time for your bickering, girl,” he growled. He looked at the weakened Digimon before him. “It's surprising how you all managed to get your partners to evolve to other forms, but as you can see, they are no match for me and my strength.”

Rosemon stood shakily, as she told Mimi to step aside. Heracles Kabuterimon stood as well, with much difficulty. Both tried fighting again, but their energy was beginning to leave them, as Demon managed to knock the both of them back with one hit. Flybeemon tried his best to distract Demon so that his allies could regain some of their strength, by using “Poison Stinger”. Unfortunately, Demon only laughed at the attempt, and, once again, smacked Flybeemon aside. Flybeemon was fast, but not as fast as Demon.

The majority of the kids looked a bit doubtful of their situation, not counting Eiji, Hikari, Daisuke, and Takeru. They seemed to be more fired up than what they had been earlier, even though Eiji still felt like sleeping and her chest hurt her slightly.

“What's this?” Demon stared at the children before him, half surprised, half amused.

“We won't go down without a fight!” Daisuke told the demon.

“Daisuke, no!” Chibimon called out.

Hikari stepped up beside Daisuke, and stared Demon straight in his evil, glowing eyes. “We've come this far, and we are not going to lose!”

“Hikari! No!” Tailmon warned. “Don't be foolish!”

Takeru stepped up beside Hikari and Daisuke. “Yeah, we won't go down without a fight!”

“No, Takeru!” Patamon shook. “He'll hurt you!”

“You three, get back here!!” Yamato ordered sternly.

Taichi looked a bit jumpy, unsure of what to do. “Hikari!!”

The three children ignored the please of the older kids, and continued to threaten Demon.

“You three children dare threaten me?”

“We're not afraid of you,” Hikari insisted. She obviously wasn't acting; there wasn't a hint of fear in her, Takeru, or Daisuke's voices what-so-ever.

“We don't want you in our world, and we don't want you to mess up the Digital World either!” Takeru added on.

Right at that moment, the crest shapes of hope and light shined brightly on Eiji's chest, along with knowledge and purity still. The pain was growing almost unbearable for the young girl, as she gripped her chest unknowingly. Hope and light vanished quickly, as all three kids - Hikari, Takeru, and Daisuke - now had a strange glow about them. The glow of Hikari was a soft bright, pink; an angelic yellow, for Takeru; a strong golden for Daisuke. Since the extra two glows had left her, she let go of her chest. It still hurt, but not as much as it was currently. The others, though, were so focused on Hikari, Takeru, and Daisuke that they hadn't noticed.

Demon shielded himself from the light, which was obviously bothersome to him, since he'd been entrapped in darkness for so long. The children then clutched their Digivices in their hands, holding them up to their chests. All three looked to be in a meditative state.

“*Hikari…”

“*Kibou….”

“*Kiseki…”

The glow that surrounded each of them formed a beam, which shot upwards towards the sky, forming three shapes: the Crest of Light; the Crest of Hope; the Crest of Miracles.

“That…light…” Demon snarled.

“What are those lights,” asked Gomamon.

“Those are…their crest lights,” Jou said in surprise. He was still holding onto Eiji, who still was having a bit of trouble standing on her own.

“It looks as if Hikari's Crest of Light is shining on the Crest of Hope, like it's in it, and both seem to be shining on the Crest of Miracles,” Tailmon pointed out.

“Yeah, it's making Daisuke's crest stand out more, but why?” Yamato questioned.

Demon shrank back to his normal, not as powerful, size, while Rosemon, Heracles Kabuterimon, and Flybeemon all felt re-energized.

“Are you Digimon sure you can handle him?” Michael asked.

“Positive,” Flybeemon buzzed, while soaring over head.

“Don't hurt yourselves,” Mimi told them.

The three all charged after Demon, launching attacks unanimously, while the children glowed, and remained in that state.

“Poison Stinger!!”

“Giga Blaster!!”

“Thorn Whip!!”

Demon staggered back as all three hits, had taken affect. He glared at them in extreme irritation and countered back using his “Flame Inferno”. The three were caught off guard, as he didn't just launch one fire ball at them, like he had whenever using this attack, but it six of them.

All three managed to get hit. Even though Demon was a little less powerful than before, it still had an effect on them, which weakened them considerably.

“Oh no,” Koushirou groaned, his teeth grit, “Heracles Kabuterimon and the others are down again!”

Yamato, at this time, wasn't as concerned with the currently fighting Digimon's welfares; there was something else that had him a bit more worried. “They're going to get hit!!!!”

Iori gasped. “Takeru-san, Daisuke-san, Hikari-san, watch out!”

`This'll put out their lights,' Demon inwardly chuckled darkly, his eyes flashing in excitement.

The other three attacks were headed towards the three concentrating children, who looked as if they'd tuned the entire world out They didn't move from their spots, and despite the warning, none of the voices seemed to be able to reach them, to break them out of this unusual trances.

“We need to beat him. I know we can. The world needs light,” Hikari mumbled, her eyes shut tight, just as her two companions.

“We can't lose hope…” Takeru muttered monotonously.

“We can't beat him without a miracle right now. We can always hope for one,” Daisuke murmured resolutely, while clutching his Digivice tighter and closer to his chest.

Taichi was about to run out to the three, but stopped. It was like some invisible force, was keeping him from doing so; as if it would be better to leave well enough alone. The same seemed to apply to the other children and non-fighting Digimon as well, but it didn't stop them from yelling at the three to get themselves to safety. The three giant sized fireballs grew closer and closer to them. Regardless of this, their glows seemed to intensify, the shapes in the sky becoming even more defined. Right before either of the fireballs could hit the intended target, they disintegrated right at their feet.

Demon looked on in disbelief, not quite pleased. “How did it miss?!”

Tailmon breathed hard, as she clutched her chest, relieved that the attack had somehow missed Hikari and the others. “What happened?”

“That attack by Demon was headed straight for them!” Sora pointed out, same state as Tailmon.

Ken blinked in amazement. “It's a miracle that they survived that.”

“But what kept them from getting hit?” Miyako questioned.

`Could they have moved?' Iori wondered, while studying the three. `Could they have moved at a speed that's too fast for us to detect? Are they really genius martial artists in disguise?' He shook his head, realizing this couldn't have been the case, mainly because of Daisuke. Iori knew that a person like Daisuke was much too impatient to learn pretty much any type of an art in that regard, properly.

“I won't miss this time!!” He was quite serious, as he kept alternating between “Flame Inferno” and “Chaos Flare”. Just as before, neither child moved from their spots, every attack aimed at them, disintegrating right before it could hit its respective target. It was like something was helping them.

“Why can I not harm those three!!”

Growing aggravated, he raised his clawed hands into the air, as he could care less if Ken survived or not. The children stared on, curious as to what he was going to do. He looked to be forming another fireball, for his “Flare Inferno” attack, only bigger. Hikari, Takeru, and Daisuke stoically remained in their spots, refusing to move, but to the others, it was like they didn't even know what was going on. They all really seemed to be under deep hypnosis.

Piyomon began to shudder, as she saw the attack Demon was about to launch. “Oh no,” she uttered. “He-he couldn't be…”

“Piyomon, what's wrong?” asked Sora.

“That attack,” Agumon darkly spoke, “it's too powerful! Not only will he manage to destroy this place, and probably get through the gate to the human world, but he'll end up destroying us too!”

“I never knew he had an attack like that!” Gabumon spoke.

“We-we're going to die,” Betamon trembled.

“No!” The crest shape of hope grew stronger on the young girl's chest, as Eiji managed to stand on her own, ignoring the pain she felt once again. “Don't give up hope!”

“We…have…to stop…him,” Rosemon groaned in pain.

“I…can't,” Heracles Kabuterimon strained. He was trying to lift himself off of the dark ground, but his entire body was aching from the beating he took from Demon. His wings were even too sore for him to fly.

“We can't lose, like Eiji-san said,” Iori told the others.

“Maybe we should start begging for our lives,” Jou muttered hopelessly and regrettably. “Maybe he'll let us live if we agree with him.”

“No, we can't do that!” Eiji adamantly insisted. “We can't give in like that!! Don't ever lose hope!” How the girl became the entire pep squad for the Chosen Children was beyond her, but she truly felt that it was willed for her to try to keep the thoughts of the others nice and positive.

“Super…Flame…Inferno!!”

He threw the hellish fireball, hoping that the children and their partners would die once and for all. They'd all been a pain in his side ever since he met them. The other children, not counting Hikari, Daisuke, and Takeru, instinctively shut their eyes, not wanting to witness such an ordeal.

Just like before, the huge, monstrous-sized fireball disintegrated. A big, bright ice-blue light seemed to engulf the fiery sphere, a soothing hissing sound, and a cloud of steam taking place of it. When the fog cleared, they all were surprised to see that they were all still alive.

“What happened?” Taichi asked.

“Another miracle?” Mimi gaped.

“What the…how…”

“Everyone, look!” Gabumon pointed. Right where the attack would have struck them was a spear-like object.

Taichi took the initiative and made his way towards it, the three younger kids, still oblivious to all around them, their glows growing more and more intense. He kneeled down to study it, while Demon was still in too much of a stupor to react. He noticed there were quite a few of these objects around - which went unnoticed before since neither of them were close enough to see it - only they were small compared to this big one. “An arrow? The tip almost looks like it's shaped like the point of an icicle, and the feather of it looks a bit like a snowflake.” He picked it up and made his way back over to the others. “It's cold, like ice water.”

“How could I have missed?! That was my best shot!” Demon grumbled in disgust. “What could have…ugh!” The evil Digimon's eyes went wide, as he felt himself falling. He hit the ground hard, and struggled to move, realizing that he couldn't. Sticking out of his back looked to be an arrow. “Why…can't…I…move…” the demon grunted.

“Wait, who shot the arrow?” asked Michael. “We're the only ones here.”

Taichi dug through his pocket, and pulled out his pocket telescope. He squinted, as he tried to see through it.

“Well, Taichi,” Sora began anxiously, “what do you see?”

“I'm not sure; it's tough to make out since it's still a bit dark out here, but it looks like someone holding a long bow in one hand, and…and…has a bird resting on his shoulder…”

“Is it Nohemon?”.

“Taichi-san said that he was carrying a long bow, Eiji-san. When he encountered us in the real world, he was using a short bow, unless he has a collection of bows, depending on the job he receives…”

“If it is Nohemon,” he put his telescope away, “why would he attack Demon?”

“Maybe he missed when trying to get us!”

Sora shook her head. “Jou-senpai, that doesn't make any sense. If Nohemon wanted us harmed or dead, he wouldn't have stopped Demon's attack.”

“That is true…” Jou agreed, `…unless he wants to finish us off himself, and couldn't stand to have Demon do it.'

The stranger was, indeed, Nohemon, who had stepped from out of the shadows. He walked past the currently immobilized Demon and made his way towards the Chosen Children and their partners. Seeing the assassin, the rest of the Digimon stood in front of the kids, while Rosemon and Heracles Kabuterimon stood in front of them. Rosemon cracked her whip threateningly and Heracles Kabuterimon gave off a somewhat, hostile growl.

“I'm not here to hurt you all, so no need to try and protect those kids,” Nohemon stated forwardly.

“Traitor!!” roared the struggling Demon.

The other Digimon didn't know what to make of all that was going on. Iori pushed his way through, and stepped up to the assassin; his curiosity had obviously overtaken him. “Nohemon, why are you helping us? How did you get here? How did you manage to find us?”

He looked towards Hikari, Takeru, and Daisuke. “Well, that light - the one that seemed to stand out most - helped me to find you, and I only helped you because---” He stopped abruptly, and grew incredibly defensive. “Never mind why I helped you! I just have some unfinished business to take care of! I'm not helping because I actually like you or anything; I just don't like the fact that Demon underpaid me!”

“Wh-what are you doing!!!” Demon demanded, still trying to move. “Why can't I move my body? How did you block off all of my attacks!”

“Like this.” Nohemon set his long-bow down, and from out of no place, pulled out a short bow. He pulled out a smaller version of the arrow Taichi had found, and aimed it straight up. After releasing the bow's string gracefully, after reaching a certain altitude, it turned into a giant ice spear. It landed back to the ground with a chunk. It then quickly melted, leaving the used, currently disregarded arrow on the ground. “It melted, and put out the fire. As to why you can't move, it should be obvious why. I'm the best known assassin of the Digital World. There's no Digimon I can't kill or take down, and that includes you. Your weak point is right in the center of your back.”

He reloaded his bow with a normal looking arrow, and held the loaded weapon towards Demon's head. “Now we get rid of you,” he told him in annoyance. “How dare you try to plunge the Digital World into darkness and make it unstable just because you have a grudge against those kids over there!

“One thing I noticed from you, Zanbamon, Sorcerymon, and your pathetic followers was how humans shouldn't meddle with Digimon affairs; well, I feel that we shouldn't meddle in theirs.”

“You worthless bastard!!” he snarled, trying to move his hands. After a while, he stopped trying, his look of anger, turning to that of an arrogant smirk. “You can't kill me. You may have found my weak point, but you can't get rid of me because I'm much too powerful, and full of dark energy!”

Nohemon frowned; he knew that Demon was right. He was definitely one of the exceptions since he was a pure, evil Digimon, filled with hatred and dark, harmful energy. Nohemon knew that by destroying his body, that all of the dark energy within him, would escape, and would still be released, causing the Digital World to be seeped in it, throwing it off balance. If it would be drawn directly to the Dark World, it probably wouldn't be a problem, but it would infect the light world as well, causing the entirety of the Digital World to be emerged in darkness. There was no telling what it would do to the human world since the gate was still opening to it.

A voice, right at that moment was then heard…

“Hello, children,” the angelic voice spoke to them.

“Angellina?”

“Yes, it's me, Chibimon. You all must finish Demon off. I know you can do it. Just use the main element, which harms Digimon such as himself, the most. You've already received a sample of that.”

“Hikari…” the girl mumbled once again, a sleepy look about her young face. She held out her arm, her Digivice in hand.

“Kibou, Kiseki…” both boys mumbled, doing the same as Hikari.

The three held their Digivices out towards the currently immobilized Demon. Three beams of light shot out from them, pretty much engulfing Demon's entire, immobilized body. He howled in what seemed to be pain and discomfort, as neither let up on the attack.

“Those three are weakening Demon! You all can now attack him!” Nohemon instructed. `I hope nothing goes wrong; if they kill him, his dark energy will seep out and back to the Digital World, causing it to be unbalanced.'

“Baby…Flame!!”

“Magical Fire!!”

“Petit Fire!!”

“Electrick Shock!”

“Poison Stinger!”

“Air Shot!”

“Use your Derisive Crow!” Nohemon ordered his feathered companion. “As for me, “William Arrow!”

The archer pulled out his arrow, and shot a round of them, while his crow circled Demon, cawing at him. He then dived on Demon continuously, pecking his entire body. Each peck, caused a puncture wound to appear in its place. All of the hits made, caused Demon distress, as he wanted it to, obviously, stop. `If I could only move…'

“Rosemon…”

“…Heracles Kabuterimon…”

“Finish him off!” both Mimi and Koushirou ordered.

Both nodded, as they got the last two hits on him. Heracles Kabuterimon took to the sky, and formed a dark purplish electrical orb from his body, similar to that of Kabuterimon's, “Mega Blaster (Electro Shocker)”, only more powerful. “Giga Blaster!” The attack connected, which caused him to scream out in even more agony.

`One more attack will probably finish him off,' Rosemon determined, as she prepared herself. She pulled out one of the roses that decorated her long, shiny, blonde hair, and gracefully tossed it into the air. While in the air, it formed into a sword, unlike how it was when she just shot out razor sharp thorns when she fought against Ebemon. The sword landed and stuck itself into the dark ground, right beside the spiky-heeled boot-wearing Rosemon. The sword's blade was razor sharp, and could maybe cut through something as thick as sheet metal. The sword's handle was a deep crimson, while its blade was an exotic, jungle green, like the sharp stem of a rose.

“Roses…Rapier!!” her voice echoed as she charged Demon. She jumped high, and brought the sword down right into his back; right where Nohemon had shot him. After she stabbed him, the sword reformed back to that of a rose, and Demon's body started to slowly fade away…

“Damn you all to hell!!” he cursed them.

The data stream seemingly vanishing into the atmosphere was really dark and unusual; quite different from what any of the children had encountered whenever seeing a Digimon die.

`Damnit; I was afraid of this happening. Demon will still be able to take over if his dark energy escapes his body! It'll take no time at all to reform from---huh?'

Nohemon rubbed his eyes. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. As the dark energy was leaving his body, the three beams of light were still shining on him. The three beams were zapping the dark energy as it was leaving his body, like lasers.

“I'll come back! You'll see! If Vamdemon could manage to pointlessly return, then so can I and I will manage to get the ex-Kaiser's dark power!” he demonically laughed.

`My…dark power? He was going to spare me because of my Dark Spore?' The boy could only thank the gods that Demon hadn't managed to get to him. He wasn't sure of the Dark Spore that was still in him, or of its level of power, and frankly didn't want to find out or know about it. All he knew was that he was better without the powers of it. He still couldn't help but wonder what Demon would have used it for.

After Demon's body fully deleted, Flybeemon, Rosemon, and Heracles Kabuterimon, all devolved to their child (rookie) stages. Miyako, Mimi, and Koushirou rushed to their partners, grateful that they managed to defeat Demon. Both Palmon and Tentomon were incredibly beat, especially since they'd remained in their ultimate (mega) forms for so very long.

Meanwhile, Takeru and the other two, dropped to the ground, and were finally coming out of their trances.

Daisuke sat up and rubbed his eyes sleepily. “What happened?”

“I dunno,” Takeru shrugged while trying to hold back a yawn. “I just feel like I've been sleeping for a long time. I always hated taking naps.”

“I feel like I've been asleep for a long time too.”

“Are you okay?” Tailmon, Patamon, and Chibimon asked in unison.

“Takeru!” Yamato called out to his brother.

Running behind Yamato, was a worried Taichi. “Hikari, Daisuke!”

After all of the events, everyone started talking vivaciously over all that had happened and the gate that was opening to the human world, closed.

“I-I knew all would go well,” Eiji smiled, the pain finally subsiding, although, her fatigue was still there.

“I'm glad too.” Iori answered, as if distracted.

“What's wrong, d'gya? What are you looking for?”

“Where's Nohemon? I would like to properly thank him for assisting us in the defeat of Demon.”

Jou rested a hand on his protégé's shoulder. “We all should.”

“He-he's gone,” Betamon announced.

“He's reminding me of Ogremon; remember when he did that?” Gomamon asked.

“It sure seems like it,” Gabumon agreed. “Those types seem to help and then vanish before they can be thanked for it.”

A good distance away…

“I know what you're thinking,” the Digimon told his winged companion, who was flying overhead, “I've turned soft since I helped them,” his crow cawed in agreement, “but that kid, no, Iori, made a lot of sense. I already knew this place was going to go to hell in a hand basket if Zanbamon, Sorcerymon, and Demon had managed to run it. That's probably why I had so much trouble killing any of those kids; something kept holding me back, and I guess that was it.

“I've lived in the world that Demon was obstinate on creating, and it's not very pleasant. That's why I turned out the way I did; getting into such a shady, unethical profession.”

He turned, his cape flapping, “Let's go,” he said as he walked away, his pet cawing merrily. “It's beginning to lighten up a bit; I'm sure I can find my way back to that gate Angellina opened.” Nohemon looked back one last time, and did something he never had before; smiled. “Thank you, Iori. I'm sorry for what I did.” With that, he took off in his signature flash.
****
`Thank you, Nohemon,' Iori told himself quietly, as if he actually heard the archer's words. `We all greatly appreciate what you did for us, and I do forgive you for all that you did; fighting alongside us as our ally made up for it.'

“Hey guys! Look, look, look, look!!” Upamon bounced hectically. “The darkness is going away, d'gya!!”

“I'm glad of that. Living in a world of darkness, is like living in a hellish nightmare that never ends,” Ken uttered softly, not wanting to return to those days or even reference them.

After all of the darkness around them had completely vanished, a bright light surrounded them. After the light subsided, they all found themselves in front of a big, beautiful home. Chibimon, as well as Minomon and Upamon, were back to their child (rookie) forms, and the children, were back to their regular ages.

`Yay! I'm not a shrimp anymore!' Takeru inwardly cheered.

To greet them, were Angellina, Swanmon, Meihui, and young, handsome brown-haired man…

Author's Note

Note 1: “Alright. See you later,” he laughed, “*`Shin-chan', and don't scare anyone or Kitsune-san by doing the `elephant dance'.” This is a reference to the manga/anime series, Crayon Shin-chan, which has been airing in Japan since 1992, and is still airing to this day on TV Asahi. Shinnosuke (Shin) is a kindergartner with bad manners, and one thing he's known for is the “elephant dance”. He drops his pants and underpants, and well, dances by swiveling his hips…it should be obvious as to what the elephant part of this means. lol

A good example of this would be in Sailor Moon S. In episode 104 (Tomodachi o motomete! Chibi Moon no Katsuyaku.), which was episode 97 in the states (Tainted Tea Party), ChibiUsa ran into a boy, who of which she found quite handsome, but he turned out to be rude, dropped his pants and underpants, and started to do that “elephant dance”, causing ChibiUsa to blush madly from having to witness such a thing.

Note 2: Hikari is the Japanese name for light, and is also the name of Hikari's crest. Very ironic, don't you think? Kibou is hope, and as you should already know, Kiseki, is for miracles.
