---- Chapter 50: The Calls of the Other World ----

Komachi was quiet again. The Nishiten had departed, and the search for the Six halted with
the sighting of the fleet. In one part of Komachi, in one apartment, to be exact, Kasumi
placed a bowl of soup on the table before Momo. Momo's eyes were on her lap as her thoughts
weighed upon her.

"Now," Kasumi said with a weak smile, "You shouldn't worry. He'll be fine." Momo looked up
at Kasumi, saw the smile, and knew Kasumi was just hiding her sadness. Momo was feeling the
same, after what SSJ said.

'He was just trying to be a hero,' she thought. 'He shouldn't have done that.'

Kasumi looked upon Momo, and felt the same sadness. Finally, Kasumi took the bowl away from
Momo and dumped it with the delicious soup into the sink. Momo looked up in surprise at
Kasumi. "If you are so depressed," Kasumi began, "let's get SSJ."

Momo stared wide-eyed at Kasumi. She was so strong, unlike herself. Momo felt terrible, but
now that she heard Kasumi's advice, she finally wiped the building tears from her eyes. She
pushed her chair back and smiled. "Okay," Momo agreed, "I need to tell him that it isn't
his fault."

Kasumi and Momo nodded and shook hands. They stepped out from Momo's door and looked up at
the Minotaur. It towered up there, the fleet in the distance looking tiny compared to it.
Momo stepped forward and down the stairs with Kasumi. She couldn't let SSJ blame himself
for this. It wasn't his fault. It was no one's fault but Mishima's. She was glad that he
gotten what was coming to him. She turned to Kasumi. "How'll we find him?"

Kasumi turned to Momo. "He caught me once," she explained to Momo's confusion, "I can feel
him in this city." Momo knew not what that meant, but took her word for it. They went off
in search of SSJ.

Knives faced Cindy, gun cocked and ready to fill her with lead, should she refuse. Cindy
held her own revolvers in her hand, aimed at Knives. Tension was in the air as Cindy waited
for him to act, and vice versa. She thought of her friends. Where were they?

The collapsing buildings were not a good sign. The appearance of the fleet wasn't one,
either. The streets were empty, and the alarm of the city was still blaring. She seemed to
be alone in the world, and her friends were gone again.

She hoped they were alright. The city wasn't in good condition as it was. She was pulled
out of her thoughts when he heard Knives speak, "You won't die, girl, if you simply comply.
I don't care if Rantmon wants you alive."

Cindy felt chills run down her spine. Knives wasn't one to be messed with. He was beyond
her ability on her own, and without those bullets. Davis had them, she remembered, and
cursed her luck.

She felt a weight upon her. She was alone for now. No one could help her now; she was on
her own against Knives. Her bullets would do nothing against him; she was just a regular
girl. Her aim lowered. She sighed. As she lowered her gun, one thought ran in her mind,
'His psychic powers would stop it anyway...'

And finally, upon thinking it, she thought of one thing. If he didn't care, why didn't he
kill her, yet? He could have easily paralyzed her with his psyche, and with a bit more work
kill her. She wondered.

She lowered her aim further, and Knives smiled in delight. He wouldn't have to kill her
after all. He saw Cindy look down at the ground, with the barrel of the gun aimed low. She
was an obedient girl, easier to manage...

A gunshot echoed through the air. Smoke came from Cindy's gun. She grinned as she raised
her sight, looking at Knives' face. His face was twisted into complete, utter agony. Short
gasps escaped from his throat. She had aimed for his crotch without him realizing.

He yelled in pain, with his voice reaching distant parts of the city. Cindy quickly took
the opportunity to dash away, through the maze of metal and glass. Knives fell to the
ground in a heap of pain, glaring at where Cindy had been. She was now gone, and he cursed
every obscenity existent in every language at her. Damn that bitch and her act!

He was sprawled on the ground in much pain. With all his might, he made his way back to his
vessel, which ferried him back to the Minotaur. His mind was screaming, 'DAMN THAT BITCH TO
THE ENDS OF HELL!'

As he struggled with the pain, he could blame another for his pain. He muttered to himself
between gasps, "Rantmon-sama... This wouldn't have happened if you hadn't sealed us. We
would have taken them back then with Naraku..."

But there was no use complaining then. He was taken back to the Minotaur, heaving in pain.
A hatch opened, medics came forth with a few white mages, for the operators saw the painful
spectacle that took place. Soon enough, though, the bullet was out and his self healed by
white magic.

Only then, did the bigger problem present himself. He had failed Rantmon. None of the kids
was caught, even then. He only hoped Kaiba would handle the other girl and boy. He came to
the bridge full of hatred when another operator kindly decided to raise his mood by telling
him the good news. "The lead ship of the fleet is making contact!"

Knives shot her a glare, and before he could utter anything, a holographic screen
materialized in the center of the bridge. He swore at the operator, "Why did you allow them
to contact us?!"

But the operator was busy pounding keys, yelling over her shoulder, "I did nothing! The
ones at the other line are hacking into the system!"

"WHAT?!"

There was a cough that filled the room. Knives looked up at the screen and faced a man. He
saw the man's worn features. Even if the man was about his age, with the glasses on and the
bags under his eyes, Knives could tell the man had seen a lot of stress. But he smiled, and
Knives swore, "Daedalus... Have you come in the name of Solarice?"

Daedalus kept his smile, chuckling and speaking on the contrary, "Ender, you seem to
misunderstand. I am taking back my creation."

With that, the door behind them closed shut. The crew within the bridge dashed to it,
banging on it and clawing at it, but it was tightly shut and bolted down. There was no way
out of the bridge now. Knives cursed again. Daedalus simply spoke once more, "My men will
come to take back my ship, and you will be disposed of."

Meanwhile, a hardcore battle took place upon the roof of the Minotaur. Kaiba had out his
Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon while Amiko had out her Black Magician and two face-down trap
cards, for Kaiba was nice enough to lend her a duel disk. This is what she did not like
about Duel Monsters. Five turns in, and the main battle already began. She had no time to
think, no time to calculate his moves.

It was Kaiba's turn, and with a Black Magician on the field, he didn't know where the
battle could go. Years of doing nothing but playing the same card game makes you realize
how quickly a weak card can be ridiculously powerful.

Still, he did what was needed to be done. He inserted Giant's Growth into his disk's slot,
and as lights flashed along the blade of his duel disk, a white light came from his
creature. It grew twice as large, filling most of the gap between him and Amiko. The Blue
Eyes roared as its strength was doubled as well to a hefty 9000. And since all opponents in
Yu-Gi-Oh are annoyingly cheap and lucky, he played Thunder Bolt. Amiko's mouth dropped to
the floor at his luck.

She nearly cried as her cute Black Magician left the field, and left her open for Kaiba to
attack. "Blue Eyes! Attack!" he yelled.

Still, Amiko had a way to counter. From her hand, she inserted Fusion Cancel into the
blade, splitting the Ultimate Dragon into three separate dragons. Kaiba was silently
swearing at all the luck the good guys always get. Still, he commanded again, "Attack!" Her
cards couldn't be anything!

Oh, how wrong he was. "This, too, Kaiba-kun!" Amiko yelled as she pressed a button next to
her first of two face-down cards: Cry of the Living Dead. "I take back Black Magician!"

With that, her Black Magician came forth from the very high-tech holograms, which the
author knows not how they work. In any case, now she had one Black Magician to handle three
more powerful Blue Eyes. After that, she pressed another button, and another face-down card
sprang up: Tomb Raider. Kaiba clenched his teeth, knowing what she'd get. "Give me Giant's
Growth!"

Now, her Black Magician was up to 5000 attack. Amiko had 100 life points left, since Kaiba
WAS good and all, having an even 8000 life points then. With each energy blast from the
White Dragons deflected, Amiko's Black Magician countered by launching a massive wave of
black magic back at them all. With 2000 points lost for each dragon, Kaiba was down to 2000
life in one shot! 'Ugh... This girl's good!' Kaiba thought.

Meanwhile, Kensou was staring at the fleet, getting quite nervous as it was getting closer
and Amiko was still stuck in a silly card game. He was glad that upon Amiko's turn, she
finally beat the guy, who was currently beating upon the roof of the Minotaur and cursing.
Kensou stepped up to Amiko, looking down upon Kaiba. "Will he be okay?" he asked. "He seems
to be taking this game pretty badly."

"They always do that," Amiko simply informed, seeing the fear and nervousness in Kensou's
eyes. She found that unsettling; ever since Kensou arrived, he was never so fearful. 'They
must be from the government,' she figured, for she knew Kensou was Hell-bent on escaping.
She then turned to Kaiba. "Kaiba-kun," said Amiko.

Kaiba stopped sulking and looked up at her as she continued, "I'm sure you're not
particularly loyal to Knives, and are probably only using him for cash in order to improve
your company-" Kaiba facefaulted. She read him like a book. "Anyway," she continued,
"You're coming with me."

And before Kaiba could protest, he was caught and that was the end of that story. Now, all
they needed to worry about was leaving. She called for Kamui again, who arrived with a red
flash. They were gone before anyone realized they had still been up there.

Knives faced Daedalus, knowing he had not much time. He couldn't fail here. He couldn't
lose, here! Not before he had fulfilled Rantmon's plan! He was so close! He almost had
them! The leader was lost because of a stupid henchman, a girl lost because of her aim, and
now that he looked up, he realized the girl and boy were gone! He almost accomplished his
task, and failed at the end!

Now, as he heard Daedalus' commands, he knew what he had to do. "We will take back the
ship, Ender," said the pompous Daedalus, "and you shall be executed before Rantmon, so the
bastard never tries another thing." Knives clenched and grinded his teeth together. The
fool was blaspheming Rantmon! "Gods are no longer useful in this world, where Man's power
of Science has surpassed all of that." Why was he getting philosophical, Knives did not
want to ponder.

Knives turned to an operator. "Tell everyone to stay put," he commanded. The operator
nodded, and through the speaker system, she relayed Knives' command, not knowing why he
would say such a thing. Daedalus was still ranting, more so than Rantmon would now, as
Knives stepped forward into the bridge. He stopped, standing on the bottom of the glass
sphere.

Daedalus stopped speaking, moving the bridge's cameras to see Knives. "What do you plan on
doing?" demanded Daedalus.

"Nothing at all," was all that Knives muttered. He drew his gun and shot the glass below
him. With a shattering and the wave of screaming inside the bridge, Knives fell through the
bridge and was pulled towards the Earth. He picked a great place to stand upon during that,
for he fell a mere twenty feet before hitting the roof of a tall high-rising building. He
leapt from roof to roof and disappeared from the scene.

Daedalus swore over the screen inside the Minotaur's bridge. He hadn't anticipated the
Ender to do that! Now he had lost his bargaining position with Rantmon, and was in a pissed
state. "Damn it! Find him!" Daedalus' voice echoed through the bridge. The operators dashed
to the broken glass, feeling dread.

Knives had abandoned them! Left his crew and flew the coop! They knew what was coming when
the large doors into the bridge slid open and Suzaku stepped through. He heard what had
happened, and was in no mood for games. With deep fear, the operators dropped to the floor
and prayed. The kodachi came from Suzaku's palm again. 'One sift stroke, and they'll all be
dead,' he thought to himself.

He then heard Daedalus, "Don't bother. They are inconsequential compared to Knives." With
that, Suzaku frowned. The Kodachi returned into his arm, and he sighed. "At the very
least," he heard Daedalus speak again, "We have the Minotaur."

He smiled. Daedalus was right. He was always right.

Amiko and Kensou reached the ground as Kamui disappeared in a flash of light. Kensou took
the time to glance about the city. They landed near a destroyed portion of the town, hoping
one of their friends were there. Broken glass filled the streets as both stepped through
the city, searching for their friends.

Suddenly, the ground shook. The glass on the streets shifted about as the rumbling grew.
Amiko glanced at every direction. 'Earthquake?!' she thought. She then felt a hand on her
shoulder. She looked up at Kensou, who was pointing at something in the distance. Away from
the tall buildings, there was a meteor in the sky, suspended over the ground. Davis was
calling for them!

They exchanged glances. Amiko looked back at the meteor as Kensou began, "Let's go." Amiko
nodded, and they dashed to the meteor.

Through the streets, past the destruction, into the abandoned, run-down district of the
city, they finally found Davis waiting under the meteor in the sky. He smiled at sight of
them. "Okay," he said as they arrived, "the rest are coming."

Soon enough, TM arrived, leaping all over the buildings as Cindy stepped up from another
street. So then there were five of the Six. TM glanced from left to right, and no trace of
SSJ was there. "What happened to SSJ?" TM asked the rest.

Amiko and Kensou exchanged glances again. After SSJ fell, what happened to him? They then
heard footsteps. It came from a distance away, low and difficult to hear. They shifted
their glances about the area, hoping it wasn't an enemy. The footsteps got closer. They got
louder. The five got more nervous.

"Ah!" Cindy uttered to get their attention. They all turned to her and followed her gaze,
and there was an SSJ, arm slung over Momo's shoulder. Kasumi was behind, following the two.
He was unconscious, still. Everyone was taken aback by the new girl. TM glared at Momo, not
knowing what to expect. "Who the Hell are you?!" he yelled.

SSJ shook. TM's yelling woke him up. "What," was all SSJ could mutter before realizing
someone was helping him stand. He opened his eyes and saw Momo's face. He was taken by
surprise. "Momo..."

TM relaxed. Davis asked what he was about to say, "You know her?"

SSJ turned to the former digimon tamer while Momo looked away in embarrassment. "She was in
Chapter 16, remember?" The rest nodded, well, except for Kensou, who couldn't understand
what he meant by that. Neither could, Momo, who gave SSJ a confused glance as he pushed off
of her and stood on his own two legs.

TM grinned and pulled SSJ away from the crew. "Where'd you get this cute one?"

SSJ glared at him. "I didn't find her. She found me."

TM slapped his knee as he laughed. The rest of them glared at them, wondering what they
were talking about. TM muttered discreetly to SSJ, "Well, good job. You're becoming like
me."

With a backhand, TM was flying back to the Crew as SSJ glared back. He just coldly began,
"We can joke later, let's get out of here, first." SSJ glanced at Kasumi and nodded. He
didn't need to repeat what he said to her. He turned to Momo. "Bye, then. Thanks for the
help."

As the Six were about to leave, Momo grabbed onto SSJ's arm. He turned back to her, and saw
her sad face. Everyone else paused and looked back. "Please," she said as tears came. "I'm
sorry for making you blame yourself. It wasn't your fault... But don't leave me alone now.
I won't last here. Please... Let me go with you all."

SSJ looked at her with sad eyes. He saw her tears. He saw how she was hurting. He sighed
and looked at the sky above. Man, he was too nice to cute girls, especially if they were
crying. He looked back at the rest. They, too, felt the same. He pulled her off his arm.
Momo looked up at SSJ, wiping tears from her eyes.

He stepped away, back to the Crew. He turned back and spoke, "Kasumi, return." With a flash
of red light, Kasumi smiled and disappeared back to her bishie ball. He sighed again,
making up his mind. He turned to Amiko, who nodded. They were kids, after all. They
couldn't abandon someone for the sake of their quest. "Fine," he said to Momo. "Let's go."

Momo wiped her eyes as she was suddenly relieved. "Really?" she asked. Everyone nodded. Now
that that was settled, they needed to get out. That fleet would be sure to keep Knives busy
enough for them to sneak out. They dashed towards the river, towards the docks. They needed
a boat by any means necessary. They were out of sight from the Minotaur, glad that the dock
was roofed.

They stood at the head of the docks and saw the line of boats waiting for them to steal.
They saw a particularly large one; it was large enough to fit them all with their baggage.
TM cut the chains tying it down to the dock's pegs, and Amiko and Davis put the bags they
carried onto it. They needed to depart then.

But all of a sudden, the winds changed. Kensou felt it, as did Davis. There was a storm
building within the dock. Everyone froze as they heard something. A scream of the planet.
It echoed throughout the area. SSJ turned his head, searching for the source. Amiko did the
same. TM felt chills run down his spine as Cindy shook in fear. Something was happening.

Then, they all heard a voice. "Come," they all heard. "Come to me..." It surprised them as
it seemed to come from behind them. They turned around and saw the most peculiar object. In
the middle of the dock just behind them, a hole was in the sky. Blues and blacks and whites
glowed all over it. It struck SSJ was not unlike the one that carried them there.

SSJ turned to the others from Earth. They felt the same, as well. This was calling for
them; the Other World was calling for them. They needed to answer. Amiko yelled into the
hole, "Who is it?!"

A voice rebounded, "Worry not, little one. I am the Master, and I need you Five. The Five
from Earth." The Five were taken by complete surprise by those words. Someone knew where
they were from!

That settled it. Kensou and Momo never heard of this "Earth" and were surprised when SSJ
braced himself to leap into the hole. "What the Hell are you doing?!" Kensou yelled.

"SSJ!" Momo said as she gripped onto him.

SSJ pushed her away. This is something he had waited for ever since he came. An
explanation! "You two," he yelled, "continue the journey! We'll catch up! This is something
we need to do!" With that he leapt into the hole and disappeared in a flash.

Amiko turned back to Kensou. "We'll catch up!" said she. She, too, leapt into the hole.

Cindy and TM exchanged glances. Neither of them knew what was going on, but they guessed
neither did SSJ or Amiko. "Oh well," they muttered as they leapt into the hole one after
another.

Davis finally turned back to Kensou and Momo. "You two will be fine," said the former
tamer. "They're not after you, but us. After we find the truth, we'll get back to you.
Promise."

Before Kensou and Momo could protest further, Davis disappeared within the hole. "Damn it!"
Kensou yelled as he dashed after him. Suddenly, the winds stopped. The crying of the planet
ended. He dashed through empty air, skidding to a stop with surprise. The hole was gone. He
slammed his fists into the floor of the docks. "DAMN IT!" he yelled. He knew nothing of
what was happening.

He then turned to Momo, the new girl who was climbing into the boat. He saw that she was
suddenly a bit stronger. "You heard them," she simply stated. "They'll catch up. I think...
They really will." Kensou's gaze dropped to the ground. He swore again.

And then he entered the boat as well, and took it to the river. Komachi disappeared behind
them as the fleet triumphantly praised Daedalus for retrieving his ship. Kensou looked back
at the fleet and grabbed at his heart. It terribly hurt. All because of those guys, and
that damned Kino Tsumuji.

Momo looked at Kensou, not knowing who he was. But he was with them, so she figured he
could be trusted. She still, however, felt sad that SSJ had disappeared then. She felt her
heart ache for her father, remembering how happy she was with him. 'All because of
Mishima...' She hoped SSJ would return soon. He was the last one she could trust in the
world...

***

The Five sailed through the tunnel of blue, black, and white. Wind seemed to rush past them
as they raced through the tunnel. Something waiting at the end of it would hold the truth.
A truth of what the world really was. Why was there anime in it? Why were they so involved?
Why did Rantmon need them?

They all wanted answers. They needed answers. The end of the tunnel seemed near. They saw
the color drain out of the walls. The blues and blacks faded, becoming lighter. A shine at
the end of the tunnel grew larger and larger. Finally, nothing but white was around them.
They stopped flying. The winds slowed around them. They saw something in the midst of the
white. A gigantic Rood Inverse.

They landed on a hexagon far above the Rood Inverse. Runes and ancient writings spread
across the hexagon, with the lines not unlike the ones that summoned the false Mauzel in
chapter 29 were etched onto the shape. They noticed something else, surprising them to Hell.

The middle of the Hexagon stood a woman and a boy. The woman was fair, and very beautiful,
with pure white hair and curls on the sides of the face. Her skin radiated with beauty and
her robes were the purest colors. Amiko and SSJ recognized her, speaking her name at once,
"Siria... Mauzel..."

Siria nodded. She finally got to meet them all in person. The Five noticed the boy beside
her. They got an even larger shock. The boy wore a hood of tan and pants of a dark shade of
green. Black gloves covered his hands and boots of the same shade protected his feet. The
shabby brown hair that protruded from under the hood. It was Rantmon! "Hello, guys,"
Rantmon spoke. The Five almost got into battle stances before the boy held out a hand to
calm them.

No, it wasn't Rantmon. The voice was much different, almost familiar... The boy reached for
the sides of his hood. He pulled it down, and the Five nearly died of shock. It was the
most unexpected person ever. They saw his pale blue eyes, and recognized it instantly.
"Frank Miguel?!" they all yelled. What was someone from their school on Earth doing there?!

Frank smiled. "Yep," he answered. "It's me."

Now, THIS required explanation. Answers were needed in this crazy, unexpected plot twist.
The Five were frozen in place, not knowing what to make of this. The answers were coming,
they knew. Now, they no longer needed to ponder any more about this world. The truth was
coming. But what do you know, we're out of time. Haha!
