SSJ: Okay! Last time on GINGA GIRI GIRI! There was a lot of talking.

Amiko: And believe him when he says A LOT, since the truth about the world was explained.

TM: After that, Frank and Siria gave us drops of mana, which increased our power.

Cindy: And yet after that Shadow and Black Amiko decide to break in and have fun.

Davis: So now, on with the show! Fighting episode!

---- Chapter 52: Undanceable Waltz ----

The swirl of wind surrounded Amiko as Mauzel pressed a hand on Amiko's forehead. Frank was
looking between the two and the enemies who had arrived. First at Siria and Amiko, then at
Shadow and Black Amiko. He just continued chanting, trying to continue through the process
quickly.

In Amiko's mind, she felt something like a locked chest being opened. A light came through
her mind. The darkness, uncertainty, and fear felt like they were being pushed back.
Instead, a single emerald light shown. She was filled with knowledge of the ages, like a
heavenly revelation had just been brought to her. She felt herself learning magic. She felt
something being added to her memory. She couldn't describe it.

And the winds spun ever more quickly. Quickly and silently, they protected Mauzel, Amiko,
and Frank. In the vast white of Mauzel's realm, there was a profound silence. A wave of
uncertainty descended upon the platform where the Five, Frank Miguel, Siria Mauzel, Black
Amiko, and Shadow stood. On the black lines were TM and his Shadow, facing each other.

TM tensed his muscles. With a sudden explosion, his red aura came forth. Shadow looked up
at the size of the aura. He smiled, admiring how much the Flame incarnate grew. "Nice one,"
Shadow commented.

Shadow closed his eyes and relaxed his shoulders and muscles. Even as the giant Glacier's
blade rested on his shoulder, from him burst a tremendous light blue aura. It rivaled that
of TM's when Shadow opened his eyes in a confident smirk. The auras clashed, blue against
red, in a deadly battle to expand. Finally, the battle settled. The first battle had
finished. Their auras were about the same.

Black Amiko looked at the two, quite amazed at their power. Considering hers was miniscule,
she was quite amazed at the extent their energies were. 'But,' she thought to herself, 'all
the mana in the world can't compare to the human mind.'

TM and Shadow stayed in their stances; TM was tense in his battoujutsu stance, and Shadow
stood relatively relaxed. And then their second battle began.

TM dashed forward, quickly drawing his sword and slashing at Shadow. As quick as TM could
slash, though, a wall of ice formed just between the two. He struck it, only to find that
it was quite strong. TM swore as he pulled his sword back and leapt away. 'That's right,'
he thought, 'I can't touch the ice, or else I'll be frostbitten.' He then looked at his
sword, noticing it had frost covering it now.

Still, he held his sword firm and leapt forward, slashing and hitting ice. He leapt to the
side as quick as he could, seeing Shadow open. He aimed another slash, and yet another wall
formed just before hitting. TM swore and circled around Shadow, quickly seeing his back and
preparing to attack.

He stepped in water as he approached his enemy, which surprised him. There was no water
before... He saw the ice walls melting then, and then swore as he leapt away from the
water. Just as he left contact, the water froze into a layer of ice, and TM was glad his
intuition kicked in.

He landed a distance away, facing the unstressed Shadow. He then heard Frank speak in the
middle of the fight, "Well, looks like you planned ahead, Shadow."

TM and Shadow turned to Frank. TM groaned at Frank interrupting the battle when he was in
the zone. Shadow simply replied, "How'd you guess that?"

"Well, there's no humidity in this plane, and you knew that enough to bring water into it
in the form of your sword."

Shadow grinned. "Yeah, you're right," he returned. "So shut up and let me fight."

Frank kept quite then as Shadow turned back to where TM was. Only then did he find TM was
already in the air, aiming an attack at him. He heard TM yell, "Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu - Ryuu
Tsui Sen!"

He was taken aback at how fast TM was coming, eyes wide as he defended. Quickly, in
defense, half of a dome of ice formed just before him. TM struck the wall as Shadow smugly
smirked. But his smirk was cut short as cracks appeared in the wall. 'Shit!' Shadow
screamed in his mind, surprised at TM's strength.

Shadow skidded back as TM tore through the wall of ice, shards ringing along the platform
like glass. He then saw the reason that TM broke through. Around the boy's sword, there
flowed currents in a storm. 'What the Hell is that?' thought Shadow, suddenly no longer
jovial.

"ZERO-POWERED KUZU RYUU SEN!" TM yelled as he flew towards Shadow. His opponent was too
slow to defend! TM was sure he had won.

There were nine simultaneous, thunderous hits before Shadow flew back. 'Where did this
power come from?!' he wondered as he skidded back. Now, TM was smirking. That got him good.
Liquid dripped from his blade.

Only then did he realize that there was no blood at all on his blade. He looked up at
Shadow, scared out of his wits. He saw Shadow cough in pain, push off the ground, and stand
up with no wounds. No single wound, despite being hit in nine painful areas. Shadow now had
a glare, completely serious now. Shadow just insulted, "Tch. A weakling like you thinks
that's enough? Sure, your power is surprising, but not strong enough to even wound me."

TM froze. The zero-power was his trump card! That idea of his was his best move! And even
combined with the best attack he knew, Shadow wasn't bleeding in the least bit! Shadow then
continued, "I should tell you something as well. My skin is extremely powerful. The water
in my skin naturally hardens into a layer of ice. A permanent shield of ice rests in my
skin. Nothing can penetrate this defense."

TM gritted his teeth in fear. 'An invincible armor?!' he thought. 'Damn it, he really is
something.' Suddenly, he heard a sound of cracking glass. It came from just behind him.

He turned about, taken by surprise. He skidded back, dodging the blade of an ice clone.
Another sound of glass. He leapt up to evade the slash of another clone. Then, SMACK!

He flew back as a clone got him right in the chest. He landed on the ground and skidded
back, reeling in pain. He then saw another pleasant sight; just above him, from all sides,
ice needles hung in the air.

He got onto his feet and rolled away, the needles crashing into the space where he had
been. He stopped, looking at where he had been. And then he felt an extremely powerful hit
straight to his gut. Shadow had hit him with his sledgehammer. TM flew away, writhing in
pain.

He skidded and tumbled along the platform, barely grabbing onto the edge just before he
would have fallen into the white abyss. His gut was hurting. He coughed, feeling his grip
weaken. And using as much energy as he could, he swung himself back up, still aching as he
coughed again.

He raised his head, looking at Shadow. Shadow was still serious, though his glare relaxed.
He was so full of himself. He was so sure of victory...

TM steadily pushed off the ground. His knees shook and buckled as he stood up. Shadow
smiled at his opponent. TM just finally spoke, "This battle isn't over yet."

"Of course," replied Shadow. "It isn't, but there's no rush for me. You'll lose anyway."

"There you go," TM yelled back. "So sure of your victory, relaxed with no thought of
losing. Being that strong must have ingrained it into you, huh?!"

Shadow just looked away, at the whiteness. "So? What's your point?"

"It's this: If you are not so worried about this fight, what the Hell are you fighting
for?! Are you trying to gain power, prove your identity, what?!"

"It's nothing, really. I don't really have a purpose. I'm perfectly content as is. I guess
we're sort of alike in that sense. We both are pretty much content... But you, heh, you're
just a fool."

That struck TM. His eyes shifted into a glare. "What?!" he demanded. "Where the Hell do you
get that?"

Shadow continued smiling, not even making eye contact as he continued, "Well, it's obvious
that you're just a useless, worthless pawn in the grand scheme of things. Your potential is
dwarfed by author boy over there. You're left in the background, hidden as author is the
one deciding your path and being the hero of this story. Do you realize it? Do you realize
how little everyone sees of you? You're a trivial character, only a pawn in everyone else's
games. That is the very truth: you’re a doormat for everyone to wipe their feet on. But, no
offense or anything, just saying the truth."

TM was suddenly filled with a grim hatred. His face had on the most hateful glare he had
ever given in his life. He glared at Shadow, then past him at Cindy... Davis... And SSJ.
They were all using him? They were only thinking of themselves? Why wouldn't they say
anything? What was wrong with them? Could... Could what Shadow have said been true?

He looked again at his friends. He saw Cindy and Davis, frozen in fear at Shadow. He saw
Amiko, still being awakened by Mauzel. And he saw SSJ, and thus discarded the notion. SSJ,
too, had a look of pure hatred, fuming and glaring and muscles tense from restraining
himself. He thought SSJ was going to burst, yelling, "SHUT THE HELL UP, BASTARD! HE IS ONE
OF MY BEST FRIENDS!"

And that settled it. He couldn't fall for this guy's games. 'But could I win?' he wondered.
Was it possible to even hurt Shadow, encased in his icy shell? He then thought of himself
for some silly reason... He, too, was in an icy shell. Every teen would be. The facade that
he held of his personality was only hiding his weakness inside; his sadness, his repressed
anger, his emotions. 'Damn, that's pretty deep,' he thought. 'Shadow's my repressed self...
How can I beat him...?’ Then the answer came to him. Fire.

The icy shell had to be melted. He had to melt his own before he could melt Shadow's. His
emotions: hatred, anger, sadness... He let them all go.

He let his emotions burst forth. He couldn't beat Shadow if he was too busy defending
himself or his emotions. He yelled in anger as his red aura burst forth again, exploding
and dropping a blanket of red upon the area.

Shadow felt a drop of water on his shoulder. He looked up, and saw the impossible. The
Glacier was melting. 'No way!' he thought with wide eyes. He turned again to TM. 'What kind
of energy is he releasing?!' Shadow tensed, struggling to control the temperature of his
blade. Control, control, control... All he needed was to control him and the water around!
Nothing could stop him!

He saw winds gathered around TM. He saw TM hold out a right palm, where the winds gathered.
TM's left hand moved close and away from the other. The winds flowed around his palm,
concentrating into a sphere. The winds flew out of control as TM's motion continued all the
more quickly. And finally, the winds died.

Shadow saw it, no longer caring that the Glacier had melted into a puddle around him. His
struggle to control had lost to TM's surge of emotions. He saw the concentrated ball of
energy in TM's hand. TM smirked. "Now, it's concentrated," TM announced. "This will be your
end."

TM then dashed forward, letting out a gigantic war cry. Shadow's face twisted into a glare,
and in one last ditch effort, clapped his hands together. The water around the platform
immediately surrounded TM in the form of ice needles, again suspended in the air.

TM couldn't let that stop him! He let out another war cry, and another explosion of his
aura filled the area. Shadow felt it. The ice everywhere instantly sublimed; he even felt
the ice in his skin melt just a little, and he knew that was bad. The kid's energy alone
was frightening!

And in one final effort, Shadow pulled back his arm and threw one punch at TM. It hit dead
on, smashing into TM's armor. There was a giant crack. TM's armor had shattered upon
impact. Even the chain mail under the main armor became bent and broken. Shadow knew he had
hit TM's body and most likely shattered his bones.

But still, he felt TM grab his arm, and a strange feeling came over it. He saw TM's hand
was glowing red. He looked down and saw TM's feet glowing red. He was suddenly struck with
the idea, "You... You took my hit by sticking onto the ground with chakra?!"

TM grinned. "Yeah. And now, you're not going anywhere." This was definitely bad for Shadow
as TM pulled back his right arm, sphere of wind twirling ever the more violently.
"RASENGAN!" TM yelled as he thrust his hand forward, letting the spiral hit Shadow's gut.

Shadow was suddenly struck with an intense pain. He had never felt such pain before as the
storm raged on. It clashed and tore at his body, slashing up his insides and erupting into
a giant swirl of sharp wind. He was in too much pain to feel TM's hand let go of his arm.
TM pulled his left hand back and finally let out one gigantic punch upon Shadow's face.

Shadow writhed in pain as he was suddenly shoved back by the energy of the Rasengan. He was
thrown back, the torrent raging out of control and putting slight cracks into the platform.
Frank noted it, 'Damn. TM has sure become something.'

And finally Shadow came to a screeching halt, twitching in pain as he struggled to get up.
There was no way that Flame incarnate could have done that much damage! The armor still
would have protected him! He still tried, feeling the intense pain as he struggled to move.
No avail. He finally coughed and gave up. But, he felt something strange. He hacked up
something he rarely ever saw. Blood. He saw his blood.

Now he understood. He swore, "Shit... That attack..." He couldn't continue as he hacked up
more blood.

TM panted stepped to Shadow, looking down upon his alter ego. "This attack is perfect
against you," TM said. "You may be protected by the Armor of Ice, but your internal organs
are just as normal as anyone-" And suddenly, TM felt a stabbing pain in his chest. For some
reason, it hurt.

And Shadow hacked up still more blood. He let it fall onto the platform as he thought,
'No. My internal organs... They're weaker. This is too much blood I'm coughing up with just
this attack.' He then looked upon TM, seeing the boy grip his chest. 'Heh, so the
adrenaline and shock is wearing off.' Shadow then rest his head back, letting it lay upon
the platform. "Well, this is it. Good night." He then closed his eyes and dozed off. He
couldn't stay conscious anymore.

TM then collapsed to the ground, heaving in pain at what happened. SSJ, Davis, and Cindy
rushed to him. He heard SSJ yell, "Damn it! Was it that guy's attack?!"

Cindy swore, "Crap, this is bad! His bones are broken," as she saw TM's collapsed sternum.

Davis added, "And with Shadow's strength... Shit!"

Then, Amiko's voice suddenly spoke behind the three, "I'll heal him."

They all wheeled around, seeing Amiko glow in her green aura. SSJ was suddenly filled with
relief. She was finally done. He then turned back to TM, working with Davis to get off the
shattered armor. Amiko saw the damage. 'Damn, that much,' she thought.

She turned to face Mauzel, seeing her nod. Amiko nodded back and put her hands together.
After a pause and a closing of her eyes, she placed her hands above TM and let her magic do
the work. Her hands began to glow. A green light came from them, and a river of energy flew
from her to TM, whose red aura had faded.

Everyone was amazed to see TM's bones fall back into place, his chest seeming to rebuild
itself. And after the flow stopped, TM began breathing normally again. He looked up at his
friends. He weakly smiled. "Damn, you take too long, Amiko."

Amiko smiled, and then heard a cough in the distance. She remembered that another was still
there, turning to look at Black Amiko right in the eye. They glared at each other. Amiko
then turned to Cindy and Davis. "Do you guys know why she's here?"

Davis and Cindy exchanged glances, wondering who should tell. Cindy then began, "She's
after Mauzel."

Davis nodded. "She wants to kill her."

Amiko looked back at Davis. "No way!" she said with surprise. She then turned back to Black
Amiko. Why the Hell did she have such a grudge? Why did she want to do it? "Why?" she
blurted out. "Why are you doing this?!"

Black Amiko just smiled as she took up her staff and stood up. She answered as she faced
her opposite, "I have my reasons. It's nothing you need to get worried about."

Amiko and Black Amiko faced each other. They knew what the battle would end up as. It'd be
a battle of wits and magic. But how would the other act, neither knew. Amiko called her
bows and arrows, keeping them ready to attack.

And finally, Amiko saw Black Amiko begin by holding her hand before her. She yelled her
spell, "Firebolt!" Amiko was fast, letting an arrow fly straight into the center of the
racing bolt of fire that came towards her. It split apart, diverting away from her.

Amiko held her own hand in front of her and muttered a spell she just learned from Mauzel,
"Aero". Another green aura came from her, sending a knife of air straight at Black Amiko.

Black countered, yelling, "Grip of Amnesia!" And quickly, a brown hand of her aura raced at
Amiko, gripping her by the head.

"What the?!" Amiko uttered as she suddenly felt the hand tighten. She felt her memories
being pulled out from her. Her memories, her feelings, her identity were flowing away. Her
spell stopped in mid-flight, disappearing as her aura faded. And finally, her eyes widened
in anger, feeling the unpleasant memory of her friends get pulled away; She saw SSJ, TM,
Cindy, and Davis pulled out from her. She saw Kensou disappearing from her memories.

And she burst in anger, yelling, "Tornado!" Black was surprised to see a tornado form out
of nowhere, pulling upon her. The grip on Amiko relaxed, and her memories flowed back;
Black was too busy to finish the spell. Amiko broke free, the brown aura fading away.

She glared at Black, hating her for what she nearly did. She saw Black Amiko clapping her
hands together, the staff resting on her back. Black gave Amiko an evil smile, muttering,
"The Words of Wilding. Instinct calls for Nature's aide!" She released her palms and
slammed them to the platform. Amiko saw lines of text suddenly appearing around her palms,
and there was a boom of smoke. Amiko was surprised to see what her alter ego had done.

There were two gigantic bears there, standing in front of Black. Black commanded, "Go!" The
bears charged at Amiko, surprised that Black could have summoned those. She dodged this way
and that, casting Haste on herself to keep ahead of the bears.

As Amiko was doing that, SSJ froze. He thought he knew the words. "The Words of Wilding?"
he uttered. "She mastered every green spell?!"

He saw Black smile. Black gave a haughty laugh and explained, "No, not just every green
spell. I've mastered every spell in existence."

Amiko let fly two arrows, both piercing through the bears' skulls. The two things collapsed
as Amiko slid to a stop. She got an idea from what was just said. "No, you didn't master
every spell," said Amiko. Black turned to her, wondering what nonsense she could be talking
about. "Yeah, you may have mastered every spell in those books, but even then... You don't
have enough mana to cast the powerful ones."

Black Amiko smiled. She had figured out that part. "Yeah, and then?"

"And then this," Amiko said as she was suddenly behind Black. Black was taken by surprise
as Amiko punched her right to the face. Black skidded back as the guys wondered how much
that should have hurt. It was Amiko, after all.

Black glared at Amiko, pulling out her staff as Amiko continued, "You're so sure of
yourself in long range with your magic, but in close range, you have to rely on your staff!"

Black gritted her teeth. She had hit it on the nail, again. "Yeah, so?!" she yelled. "You
can't win just by figuring out those two." Black pulled on her staff, and immediately it
broke into its six pieces. She swung it like a chain at Amiko. Amiko took a blow to the
shoulder, to the gut, and finally the chained weapon grabbed onto her arm and swung her
around, throwing her painfully into the platform.

"AMIKO!" SSJ yelled. He leaned forward to dash. Cindy put a hand on SSJ's shoulder to keep
him from going. SSJ looked back to Cindy.

"Trust her," Cindy advised. SSJ relaxed. Of course, Cindy knew her better than he did. He
looked back at Black Amiko, seeing her put her hands together just above Amiko. Cindy and
SSJ tense as Black Amiko almost finished a chant.

It was just then that they heard Black Amiko scream, "WHAT THE HELL?!"

They both looked up, for that was where they heard Black's voice come from. They saw that a
ribbon had wrapped about her leg, and mimicking Black's own move, it slammed her painfully
down into the platform. They saw the ribbon fall down, seeing Amiko at the end of it,
smiling. "Are you glad Kamui-kun kidnapped me now?" she asked with a smile.

SSJ thought, 'I guess so...' He then saw Black stand up and face Amiko.

Amiko docked an arrow, aiming it straight at Black. She proclaimed, "I have plenty of
tricks up my sleeve, and I'm glad I get to use them."

Black Amiko fumed. She painfully pushed herself off the platform and got to her feet,
swearing at Amiko. They then saw Black Amiko bite her finger and press it onto her weapon.
There was the sound of cracking. Everyone was taken aback as the chains holding her weapon
together released, splitting her staff into six floating pieces. They all saw it. A thin
brown wire of her aura connected the staff. She glared at Amiko and said, "Time for my
weapon's other form."

It grabbed again onto a surprised Amiko's leg, pulling her towards Black. Black twisted her
weapon around, and as quickly as it broke, it pulled together again, solid as a rock. She
aimed the butt of the staff straight at Amiko's gut. "Take this!" she yelled.

She thrust it forward. Amiko skidded back. Black grinned. But then she saw something on the
contrary to her expectations.

She saw Amiko using her bow to push on the tip of the staff. She muttered, "Shit!" She
looked at Amiko's face, seeing her smile. She swore at herself, 'Damn it. She figured out
how to beat it.'

Amiko just smirked as she announced, "Yeah, if I push here, you're not going anywhere."

Everyone looked ahead, amazed at seeing Amiko outsmart Black. Black replied, "It seems by
calculations were off by a bit." She threw a glance at the sleeping Shadow. "That guy
wasn't up to par of what I expected."

She then heard Amiko say, "Don't blame others for your weakness. You failed to see this
outcome; you underestimated me."

Black Amiko glared at Amiko. 'Who does that bitch think she is?!' she thought. Black Amiko
then reevaluated the situation. She looked at Amiko, keeping her at bay. If she moves
forward, Amiko can shift and attack. If she moves back, that'd be allowing Amiko room to
move. There was only one answer. Sideways and away. Black Amiko sighed, "Damn it. Mauzel
will have to wait another day to die."

With that, she twisted away and dashed towards the still open Gate, grabbing Shadow's scarf
along the way. She dragged him through, and both were gone in the Gate as suddenly as they
had came. The five breathed a sigh of relief as the Gate finally closed.

Amiko fell to the ground and panted. Man, was she tired from the battle. She looked at TM,
who still lay on the ground. He, too, was extremely tired from his own battle. Though she
didn't exert as much energy as him, she felt, in her own way, that she had overcome her own
obstacle.

But then they had no more time to waste in Mauzel's plane. They had to hurry up in order to
return to the Other World. They turned to Siria and Frank, who both were smiling. "Thank
you," said Siria, "Amiko and TM. You have done well."

Frank added, "Yeah. Quality stuff. Don't lose momentum when you fight my avatar."

They nodded. Everyone felt lighter, released of the burden of not knowing. SSJ then turned
to his friends. He spoke, "Now that we know of the truth... I am definitely sure if we were
to tell it, their heads would explode."

Everyone nodded in agreement. It certainly was a wacky, freaky story. But, it was a truth
that they could buy into. Davis said, "It's best if we don't say it, then." They all nodded
again.

With that, Frank clapped his hands together. Another Gate opened in the white sky. The wall
of many colors greeted their eyes as they took one last look at Frank and Siria. "We'll
meet again," Frank assured. "I'm still trying to get back some of the things the virus took
from me."

"I'll be watching over you all," said Siria. "You all will have my protection and my
hopes." She smiled, a genuine smile of her hope.

The Five grinned. "Don't worry," said Amiko.

"We'll take care of things," Cindy assured.

They then turned about and leapt through the Gate. They were gone soon enough, leaving
Frank and Siria alone in the plane. All the whiteness seemed to now weigh on them. "They'll
do it," said Frank. "I know it."

***

Kensou still sat in the boat with Momo as it moved swiftly along the river. It went with
the rushing flow, the high flood season nearing. The moon hung overhead, bright as it
showered the scene with dim light. The Red Mountains loomed in the distance of the river, a
reminder of their trek. They were still a long ways, and already it had reached their eyes.
Kensou knew how massive they were, always amazed at their size.

During this, Kensou kept watch over their party of two. No one had bothered them since
leaving Komachi earlier that day. Momo was wrapped up warmly, sleeping on the boat as it
continued on. Kensou looked at her, and felt some pang of familiarity. 'Do I know her?'
thought Kensou as he turned to look at the sky. 'She seems awfully familiar...'

And then there came a strange event. Just above the side of the river, he saw a rip in the
sky. It silently tore open, revealing a familiar shaft of many colors. 'They're back?!' he
thought. And sure enough, five bodies landed painfully on the ground.

As the grasshoppers and cicadas sounded in the background, Kensou took an oar and paddled
to the edge of the river, pulling the boat to shore and dashing to the Five.

SSJ groaned as everyone else had landed on him. They all groaned in pain, for they had
fallen quite a distance onto each other. Kensou sighed and relaxed. "It's about time you
all returned," he said.

"Damn it," said Amiko. She pulled herself up and saw Kensou. She sighed with relief, "So,
the Gate did lead us back to our stuff." Then a chirp came from the dark. Amiko was
surprised as a small bird came from nowhere and jumped onto her head. "Tenpi!" she
proclaimed as the chocobo chirped and welcomed her back.

Everyone pulled off of SSJ, who lay with an imprint in the ground. There was a "puu!" and
Cindy saw Mokona popping out of a bishie ball. Cindy looked at him and crouched down to
look at it. She poked it, "That's where you've been hiding?!"

"Puu!" was what Mokona said back.

And after much excitement, they returned to the boat and to their journey. They were filled
with hope as the boat continued down the Great River. As they neared Rantmon's palace so
far away, they knew what they were up against. Well, except Kensou and Momo, one of whom
was still sleeping. Kensou turned to the rest, "Where were you guys?"

The group exchanged glances, remembering what they said in Mauzel's plane. "Nowhere,
really," they all said in unison.

[1] Yep, again, no anime, so I shortened it myself.
