Dragon Knights: The Dark Dragon Sword, Part Six

By Master_Of_Red_Eyes

Hello, friends! ^_^ School started! Joy! (Sarcasm). Here is part six!! ENJOY!!!

Magi Valkyrie- Man you started school before me? Dude, I feel sorry for you…

Silver Frost- Master of Dragons something… You can most likely find it if you visit www.Yu-Gi-Oh!.com/google (I think that is the URL, anyway…) and clicking on `translated cards' or something… Yeah, I haven't been there in a while, so… I DO know that card is on this list of Japanese-to-English translations, however.

Disclaimer: I don't own Dragon Knights. Minako Ohkami does. Heck, I don't even own a copy of the manga, for this story I'm going off of my memories of the book I read… Last June. Now it's September, and I'm surprised I remember. Let's just keep reading, shall we? In my case, writing…

Part Six: Chaos Ensues; Never Enter an Inn…

It was very, very dark. Not a light shone, and, unfortunately for the erstwhile Dragon Knights, they didn't possess a lantern. And once it was dark, the terrible monsters that roamed the countryside would search for food- Namely, humanoids of some sort, be they Demon, Elf, or Human.

Nothing could stop them, not even Dragons.

Rath stumbled along the road, seeing nothing. Until…

"Hey, isn't that a light up ahead?!" he pointed towards a small, glowing speck up ahead. Thatz squinted. "Yeah, I think so, but it could also be a glowing eye of a hungry monster!" Rath pouted. "Well if you're too cowardly to go and check it out, I suppose you could just stay out here… In the dark… With the monsters…" Minora smirked. Thatz sighed. "Fine. I'll come". And with that, the quartet set off towards the desired light.

Rune peeked through the window of the light-giving inn. "I see… Mostly Humans, some Yokai, another Elf, and…" he groaned. "Goblins". Rath, Minora and Thatz groaned as well. Goblins could mean only one thing- Disaster. "Do we have much choice?" Rath asked, scanning the enveloping darkness surrounding them. "Maybe, if we wear cloaks over our faces and change our names, they won't know who we are!" Thatz said, sarcasm evident in his voice. Minora grinned.

"Actually…"

Ten minutes later, a group of four black-cloaked figures stole into the room, towards the innkeeper. One of them, the tallest, whispered harshly, "Four rooms. One night". The innkeeper shook his bald head, seven chins wobbling.

"Only one room, lads, and we need names in order to let `guests' get a room…" He looked at the quartet quizzically. The speaking one cleared his throat.

"I am Uruloke, and those are Lingwiloke, Arach, and Draca". The cloaked figure pointed to them in turn. Then the figure continued, "We will take the one room". The innkeeper nodded, pointing with a chubby finger to a set of rickety stairs. "First to the left". The speaker nodded, and pressed a small bag of coins into the innkeeper's hand.

"Take it" was all he said, before leading his mysterious procession up the stairs and out of sight. The innkeeper shook his head, but his attention was diverted suddenly to a commotion outside, and he soon forgot about his cloaked guests.

For now.

As soon as the quartet was upstairs and had shut the door, Thatz ripped off his cloak. "Arach?!?! Where did that come from?!" He cast a quizzical glance at the still-cloaked Rath. The Fire Knight shrugged. "No idea. Just popped into my head." But he didn't remove his cloak. Rune looked at him, puzzled look on his face. Suddenly, they heard a commotion from below. The Knights looked at each other, straining their ears to hear more.

"LET ME GO YOU"- a feminine voice raged, but then was cut off by a rougher, swarthy one.

"You better be quiet, sweetheart, or else old Milliarr will get you for `is supper…" There were sounds of great struggle going on downstairs. Minora glanced at her companions; Thatz was stotic, not showing much emotion; Rune was worried-looking; and Rath was…

… Worried as heck. "Hey guys, does that lady's voice sound familiar…?" He still had not removed his cloak. Rune looked puzzled. "Now that you mention it, that voice does sound familiar…" Suddenly, Rath let out a yelp.

"CESIA!!!" And with that, he raced down the stairs at breakneck speed. "CESIA!!!" After he had left, Minora got up off her spot on the chair where she had been sitting. "Should we follow…?"

"No" Rune and Thatz said in unison.

Rath strode down the stairs, drawing the hood of his cape up to keep his face for showing. His right hand lingered on the hilt of his Dragon Sword, his courage being drawn from the depths of the enchanted blade. His eyes, black as the dark of the surrounding night, lingered on the base of the stairs. What would he find, once he could see the inn's main room? The Flame Knight never knew, because, at that instant, a very familiar face came dashing up the rickety stairs. Cesia, Yokai maiden of the violet hair and golden eyes, was weak and tired, eyes unfocused. "Huh…?" And with that, she pitched headfirst onto the wood steps, but Rath stood by, waiting for her captors. Just as he thought this, a scarred and bug-eyed Goblin came dashing up to his prisoner. "Now, we can't have you getting away now, can we…?" he growled, reaching towards Cesia. Her eyes were barley open, just enough to get a distressed look through. But just as the Goblin reached towards Cesia, a flash of fiery orange blazed through the dark of the stair. The Goblin screamed, one of his clawed hands gushing vomit-yellow blood. "Gahh!!" he hissed, foaming at the mouth. "Who in the Sacred Flames are you?!?!" Rath stepped partially out of the shadows, cloaked face featuring two gleaming obsidian eyes. The Goblin snarled, and more of his kind came running up behind him, staring up at the `masked' man. Rath grinned; Goblins weren't as smart as Demons, but still…

Rune, Thatz, and Minora looked up from being tired just in time to see Rath- Cloak, sword and all- Come charging through the door, carrying a limp Cesia. Thatz cocked an eyebrow at Rune, who shrugged, and went back to his inquiring look at the Fire Knight. He eyed them all back, glowering, and then shouted "WE HAVE TO GET OUT OF HERE NOW!!!!" He panted heavily, and only then did they see the crimson slash that had torn open much of his cloak, not to mention shoulder and chest. The Fire Sword was in its sheath, true, but it was apparent that it had not been so a minute ago. Rath's face was flushed with exertion and shining with perspiration. Just as Rune was about to ask why they needed to leave, there was a loud screech from below.

"WHAT?!?! YOU LOST HER?!?!"

Rath ran to the window, still carrying Cesia. "Looks like we could jump, it's only the second story…" Thatz's jaw dropped in disbelief. "Are you CRAZY?!?! We'll kill ourselves!!" Just then Rath threw open the window and heaved the Earth Knight outside. "Your support is welcomed" he muttered sarcastically. He looked at Rune and Minora. "Unless you two want to fight an angry hoard of Goblins…" Minora grinned. "What do you think I have the Dark Sword out for, to use as a butter knife?" Rune looked undecided for a moment, and then said "I will as well. Goblins once killed my family, and they will not get away with it". Rath looked at Rune. "You never said that…" But suddenly, the door to the room banged open, and thirty filthy Goblins swarmed around Rune and Minora, shielding them from the Fire Knight's view as he escaped.

Well, what did you think? This took me long enough to write, yet it seems so short… Ah well! At least I have ideas for the next few `sequences'. Breathe Deep, Fly High!
