A/N: Booyaka! Hiya guys, I'm back with another Selvine fanfic. The reason this one is kinda soon is cause all the reviews I read on it. Yeah, it was kinda a lot to me. So, I decided to write another one. Ok, move over Zelphie fanfics, cause Cherry's taking over!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! *Ahem* Excuse me, I got a little carried away there....

Disclaimer: Too bad that I don't own Final Fantasy 8. I wish I did, but you all know I didn't create it.

Chapter Two "The Secret's Out."

The alarm clock 'beep' for nearly an hour before it caught Selphie's attention. She rubbed her eyes, and turned it off. It was a Saturday, and she didn't feel like getting up. She didn't have any classes today, so why did she have to awake from her slumber? Ah, yes, the Garden Festival called for her help. Being the president wasn't easy. She made her way to the bathroom and took a quick shower to wake up. She brushed her teeth, fixed her hair, and put on her yellow dress she loved so much. She made her way to the cafeteria so she could have a decent breakfast to start the day off.

"Hey Selph!" Rinoa waved to her from her table.

That reminded Selphie, she needed to tell her what happened last night. Rinoa was the only one who actually knew about Selphie's crush on Irvine. Selphie and Rinoa were best friends (Well, sorta, Irvine was Selphie's best friend since childhood). They told each other everything (well, almost everything).

"Oh Rin, I have to tell you something." Selphie took a seat next to her best friend.

Rinoa grinned, "I know what this is about. It's about Irvine, isn't it?"

Selphie clamped her hands over Rinoa's mouth.

"Not so loud so everyone can hear you. Remember, you are the only one who knows I like him."

"Ooops, my bad. Ok, so what happened?" Rinoa pushed aside her studying to hear Selphie.

"Well, to make a long story short, he asked me to the festival!" Selphie said excitedly.

"OH MY HYNE! Are you serious?" Rinoa was in shock.

Selphie nodded.

"I never thought he could go to a festival without having more the one woman. I'm so happy he asked you." Rinoa hugged Selphie.

"Hehe, it's not that shocking, is it?" Selphie asked.

"Well, I guess not, but I'm so happy for you. It's such good news," Rinoa released her hold, "you are gonna have a great time with him."

"With who?" Irvine took a seat in front of Selphie.

Shocked from him appearing all of a sudden, Selphie fell out of her seat and hit the floor.

"Oww!" Selphie stood up and rubbed her butt.

She was a beet red color cause of...

1) Irvine appeared.

2) He might have heard the conversation.

3) Cause she fell on the floor in front of him.

"Ah, man Sefie, you ok?" Irvine asked concerned.

"Yeah, I'm fine, but you shouldn't sneak up on people like that." Selphie sat back down in her seat.

"When did you get here?" Rinoa asked to make sure he didn't hear them.

"Oh, I just got here. What were you ladies talkin' 'bout?" Irvine asked curiously.

"Oh, ah, um, er.... nothing really, haha." Selphie scratched the back of her head.

"Really?" Irvine said sarcastically.

"Yes, really," Rinoa backed her friend up, "you shouldn't be so noisy."

"Ah, can't help the way I am." Irvine smiled.

Just then, two girls walked by their table. Irvine tipped his hat, and winked at them. The girls giggled and waved back.

Rinoa turned and looked at Selphie, who looked pretty upset. She then kicked Irvine's shin under the table.

"Ouch, why ya do that?" He said rubbing his leg.

Rinoa gathered her stuff, "I'm gonna go now, need me, you know where I'll be. Seeya Selph."

"Is she mad at me?" Irvine asked.

"I don't know, she tends to be unpredictable at times." Selphie stood up.

"Reminds me of someone I know. Where are you goin'?" Irvine asked.

"I have to go to the Quad, remember?" Selphie smiled.

"Want me to walk ya there?" Irvine offered.

"Nah, I'll be fine, but thanks for the offer." She walked away, and left the cafeteria.

During the whole way to the Quad, Selphie's mind kept scolding herself. She couldn't believe she didn't take up on his offer. She wish she could just run back and tell him she would like to, but it was too late, she was already at the Quad.

"Hey Selphie!" One of the members on the committee waved to her as she walked in.

Selphie immediately looked up and put on a smile. She hated for other people to see her upset. That's why she was know as the cheerful one to all her friends, in fact to everyone. She was the one who cheered everyone up. So, she always tried to keep her cheerful personality around others, but lately she had been trying too hard. Irvine has been on her mind, he was always on her mind.

"Selphie? Are you ok?" Selphie snapped out of her dreamlike state.

"Ah, yeah, I'm find." Selphie smiled.

"Are you sure?" Her friend asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine, just thinking."

Being a good friend of course, he didn't want to invade on her personal life, so he just nodded and went to the stage. Selphie followed him. At the stage, all the members met. They talked for a while, and informed Selphie on the things they did.

"So, that's it and we're through." One of the members said.

"Booyaka! We finished kinda early though, don't you think?"

"Well, we can always add more though, right?" One of the members suggested.

"Well, that's true. If anyone has an ideas, come to me, ok." Selphie dismissed her fellow members, and she also left.

Selphie went to the cafeteria, so she could speak to Rinoa. Usually, Rinoa was in the cafeteria studying, or talking to her friends. If she wasn't, she most likely was with Squall, doing who knows what (no not that!). Squall has been too busy lately, and is always working. Rinoa has been upset for the past two days, 'cause she hasn't seen him, but with Selphie around, she hasn't been too upset.

There she was, at the usual table. She was talking to Quistis and Zell. Selphie walked over to the table and sat across from Quistis.

"Hey Selph," Rinoa grinned, "any good news on Herman?"

Selphie couldn't help but crack up laughing, neither could Rinoa. Herman was the name that they made up for Irvine, so that no one could figure out that she like Irvine.

"Nope, not at all." Selphie chuckled.

"Herman?! Who's that? isn't that the guy from that monster show?" Zell asked.

"No, Herman is the guys she likes, silly." Rinoa giggled.

"With a name like that, I'm afraid of what he looks like." Quistis commented.

Selphie stood up, "Irvy is not ugly!"

Rinoa and Selphie froze.

"I wasn't talking about Irvine." Quistis answered.

Good, Rinoa and Selphie thought, she didn't catch on, or so they thought.

"But why did you bring up Irvine, I was talking about Herman." Quistis placed her finger on her chin.

"I meant to say Herman. That's all." Selphie nervously spitted out.

"Really, so that means Irvine was on your mind." Zell added.

"No, he isn't!" Selphie desperately tried to defend herself.

"Then why did you say his name?" Zell grinned.

"Oh stop that you two!" Rinoa said.

"We were just joking, we all know Selphie and could never like Irvine." Zell said.

"Why not?" Rinoa asked.

"You see him all the time, flirting with all the girls. How can anyone like that?" Quistis answered.

"Even a guy like that can stay true to someone." Selphie added.

Zell looked at Selphie, "I think...you like him."

Selphie started to sweat, "What makes you think that?"

"You are always defending him, that's why."

"So, he's my best friend, and what's wrong with defending someone." Selphie stood up, "I'm leaving, see you guys tomorrow."

Selphie turned around to leave, but right when she did turn around, she bumped into someone.

"Ah, sorry Sefie." Irvine apologized.

Selphie turned a crimson color, Quistis and Zell caught on, "It's ok. I should have been looking were I was going."

"Where ya headin'?" Irvine asked.

"Oh, I was just leaving." Selphie responded.

"Ain't ya gonna stay and talk to us?" Irvine sat down next to Zell.

"Well, I guess so." Selphie took a seat next to Irvine.

Quistis and Zell started to giggle, they have found out.

Rinoa looked at Zell, then at Quistis. Selphie didn't pay any attention to Zell and Quistis, so apparently she didn't know.

"I see what you meant about Herman not being ugly, Selphie" A giggling Quistis commented.

Selphie gasped, "What?!"

"Yeah, you were totally right." Zell chuckled.

"Herman, who's that?" Irvine looked at Zell.

"Oh, well he's this guy that Selphie likes." Quistis responded.

"Herman?! He must be some loser. What does he look like? I bet he's ugly." Irvine asked.

Zell, Quistis, Rinoa and even Selphie couldn't help but laugh, he was making fun of his ownself without realizing it.

"If only you knew." Zell patted his back.

"Come on guys, I wanna know." Irvine got impatient.

"Ok, well he's yoooooooooooOOOOOWWWW!!" Zell screamed.

Rinoa had pinched his hand before he could finish.

"Ok, this isn't funny anymore, come on tell me," Irvine looked at Selphie, "you are gonna tell me, right?"

The look he gave her shocked Selphie. He looked as if she was cheating on him, not a mad look, but an upset, sad kinda look.

"Um...well, I-I-I," She looked at Rinoa.

Rinoa nodded her head, giving her a 'you should tell him look.'

"I-I have to go." Selphie got up, and rushed out of the cafeteria.

Irvine looked confused, "I didn't make her nervous, did I?"

The three of them shook their heads, they shouldn't have been teasing her in the first place, and they shouldn't have brought up 'Herman' in front of Irvine.

"Maybe I should go talk to her." Rinoa stood up and left.

---

Selphie's dorm was dark and cold. She sighed and turned on her lamp. She didn't want him to know, not know that is. She wanted to tell him at the right time. Now wasn't the right time. Maybe at the festival she could tell him. She would be in his arms during the last dance, which she will make sure is a slow dance. She wanted the last song to be 'Eyes on Me.' She loved that song, and it was very romantic. She signed dreamily to herself.

*Knock Knock Knock*

Selphie snapped out of her little day dream and went to the door, "Who is it?"

"It's me, Rinoa."

Selphie opened the door, "Oh, come in."

"Are you ok, you look pretty upset back there." Rinoa asked concerned for her friend.

"Yeah, I just didn't want to tell him now. It's not the right time, or place, or moment. You get the picture, right?" Selphie offered her friend to sit down.

Rinoa took a seat on the bed, and Selphie sat down near her desk.

"Oh, I get it. You know, Quistis and Zell found out." Rinoa fiddled with 'Irvy' (the teddy bear).

"Oh, I know." Selphie looked down.

"Don't be upset, I don't think they will tell him." Rinoa tossed 'Irvy' to Selphie.

"I hope not, I'll be mad at them if they do." She hugged the soft teddy bear.

"I think they can keep a secret. Hey, um..." Rinoa looked around.

"Yes,?"

"I was wondering, you said you and Irvine were best friends."

"We have been since I came to the orphanage, why are you asking?"

"It must be great being in love with your best friend, I mean you know everything about him, and you are so close to him." Rinoa smiled.

Rinoa's smile looked like she was longing for something Selphie had. A look that Selphie could tell that she wanted that kind of relationship with Squall.

"Oh no! Don't think that!" Selphie stood up.

"Squall and me aren't that close. I hope he hasn't forgotten me."

"Rinoa, please, it's been two days, I'm sure he is thinking of you right now." Selphie comforted Rinoa.

"You're right! What am I thinking? Squall does love me." Rinoa smiled.

"Right, now why don't you wait for him at his dorm, and tell me everything tomorrow." Selphie suggested.

"Ok, great idea. Thanks Selph, I'll talk to you tomorrow. Bye." Rinoa gave Selphie a hug, and ran towards Squall's dorm.

Selphie smiled, she was amazed at how good she could cheer her friends up. She changed into her yellow pajamas with the ducks on them and hopped in bed. She reached over and turned her light out.

"Ok, sweet dreams Irvy." She snuggled up to her teddy bear and closed her eyes.

To be Continued...

A/N: Ok, true story. I got the name 'Herman' from my own personal experience. My friends and I called my crush 'Herman' when he was around talking about him. When he asked who 'Herman' was, we totally made up some funny stuff, and we couldn't help but laughing. I don't think he ever caught on, but it was so funny. Anyway, I hope you liked this chapter. I'll write more shortly. Bye.
