Prologue: I opened my eyes and, at first, saw nothing but darkness. Blinking again, my eyes started adapting to the night, slowly recognizing those little twinkling objects as stars. Sitting up, I felt the lazy wind crawl on my face. It was sickeningly quiet. Although I'm a loner and the whole world's society would very much like to banish me from the populace, I didn't like the peace at all. It just didn't feel right.

I eventually stood up, not bearing the feeling, and started pacing. Just a few meters from were I slept was a blonde haired guy with a black tribal tattoo on his cheek. He looked younger than me, and he was currently snoring. I met him on a train station-Central Centra, I think-and from then on was having a pointless journey with the guy. His name is Zell. Zell Dincht. Noisy, but well, he's nice.

A sudden hushing noise came from the bushes nearby, and I, always in alert, was ready to reach for my gunblade. The hushing came louder, sending my heart into a complete red alert for an attacker was just five feet away from me and would be starting to do "God-knows-what" in a couple of minutes. I narrowed my eyes and affixed a death glare on my "potential attacker's" location.

"Who goes there?" I exclaimed, almost in a growl that had sent the villagers of the last town scampering for cover. Hey, it wasn't my fault! I was naturally born to have an awful, scary voice like this!

No response. And hell, that was dumb. I mean, attackers don't answer questions from their victims while under cover, right? They just kill. Nonetheless, I expected one, maybe because amateurs were the only careless ones who'd lose their cover and be heard rustling bushes. I began to walk closer to the bushes, my guard still up and attentive. I was close to three feet away when a foot sprang out-a brown booted foot to be exact-and then materialized the legs, and then the short yellow dress and the head. My supposedly attacker became a small, brown haired girl who looked like she'd been entangled in those bushes for light years.

"Selphie..." a raven-haired girl whispered as she paced around the room, her heels softly clicking on the cold marble floor with every step. A blonde haired girl was just nearby, wearing the same forlorn and worry on her face as realization and possible risks clouded her mind in one utterly disgusting unison.

The raven haired girl's name was Rinoa Heartily, the crowned princess of Deling and the only daughter of the present monarchy. However, unlike most princesses, she was not under Ecqhuantrion's (the Deling Imperial Palace) roof tonight. She was miles away from her country, from her people. She was in Winhill, a small town (the safest town right now) she and her bestfriends had ran into...after the overthrowing attempt that Octavius Hunter had concocted.

The attempt was close to victory if it weren't for Kiros Seagull...the legendary Kiros Seagull that had once swore allegiance to Rinoa's grandfather. He was a knight, a popular knight in Deling that Rinoa couldn't believe he came to save her and her friends. He retired a couple of years after she was born, and because of that, Rinoa didn't really know him.

The other girl, slightly older than Rinoa, was Quistis Trepe. She was a close relative, a cousin in Rinoa's maternal lineage. She was one of the few who could actually be with Rinoa-up close and personal- and Quistis was very well acquainted with her "so-called" perfect life. Quistis thoroughly understood her cousin. She was always lonely-although she didn't show it-and without a normal social life...and they call that perfect. Hyne!

"Quisty?" Rinoa stopped pacing, Quistis saved from further dizziness because of her actions, "We shouldn't have let Selphie go by herself...Octavius knows her!"

Quistis almost nodded. She was also thinking about that, and Hyne (again), that was a bad omen. However, a flint of hope spared them from worrying all night. The other distant cousin had with her, Irvine Kinneas, Lieutenant in Command and sexy for all women in the palace.

"They'll be fine," Quistis almost added "I suppose" but dared not, "Irvine will handle the ladies with his charm, and Selphie, handle the men with lot'sa bugging."

For the first time, Rinoa smiled, but her worry didn't cease. Selphie and Irvine should find this man that Sir Kiros Seagull had suggested and strongly branded as "the next savior of Deling City".

Author's Notes: Okay, hope everyone gets a gist of what I'm thinking about. Read and Review, please!!!
