I forgot the rest
(This means my one and only Original Character, Kizu no Sankon {Reaver of the Wind} [She's what we'd call a Yoko— an enchanted spirit-kitsune]
is talking. She's here to fill you in about stuff I forget to rite.)
(Write.)
Right!
(No, baka ningen...up ^ there! Write!)
Left!
( -Puts head in hands- `I don't WANNA be a normal Yoko,' I said. `No, mom, I'll skip college in the Spirit World...I wanna go help the ningens!'

Slowly, not really wanting to, Richard turned the body over and gasped.
She'd been...eaten.
By a human.
As he poked at the mound of black buried deep within her not only did ants begin to march out but an eerie cadence of words began to play...
Nothing there
Nothing there
There was a man who married she
A hateful woman full of greed
And it rubbed away,
Was gave to him,
The fateful day where things turned grim,
She said
Husband, husband please
Please let me buy some meat and cheese
Our ribs, they show;
Our joints, they screech;
Please let me buy some meat and cheese.
But he said
No you greedy thing
I gave you a home, a nice gold ring.
I spent on you till our gold was seized
You may not buy some meat and cheese.
One day she came to him and said
I can't draw water, I can't make bread.
The well's too far but our horse is weak
The pulley sticks and then it squeaks
Please, my husband, pretty please,
Just let me buy some oats and grease.
But he said
No you greedy thing
I gave you a home, a nice gold ring.
I spent on you till our gold was seized
You may not buy some oats and grease.
He died, then, and she kept his ring,
Sold the hay and got some bling
And cheese and meat and she ate well,
And oats for the horse
And grease for the well.
But that very night
She went to bed
And a voice, it sounded inside her head.
And it said
No you greedy thing
I gave you a home, a nice gold ring.
I spent on you till our gold was seized
But you have left me unappeased.
She said,
A cat crying in its lair
Surely it is nothing there.
The voice came louder, clearer still, coming from his whiskey still.
And it said
No you greedy thing
I gave you a home, a nice gold ring.
I spent on you till our gold was seized
But you have left me unappeased.
And she said
Some drunkard singing to the air
Surely it is nothing there.
Outside the window, by the door,
The voice called louder than before.
And it said
No you greedy thing
I gave you a home, a nice gold ring.
I spent on you till our gold was seized
But you have left me unappeased.
And she said
The drapes, they rattle with nighttime air
Surely it is nothing there.
Then there were footsteps up the stairs
The loud voice caught her unawares
And it said
No you greedy thing
I gave you a home, a nice gold ring.
I spent on you till our gold was seized
But you have left me unappeased.
And she said
A lowly mouse upon the stair
Surely there is nothing there.
Now the voice wasn't in her head
It was screaming at her, right next to her bed
And it said
No you greedy thing
I gave you a home, a nice gold ring.
I spent on you till our gold was seized
But you have left me unappeased.

-There was a long pause on the tape.-

And then a footfall on the stair
A gleam of gold,
Then nothing there.

By now everyone had gathered round to listen.
Conan sat, perplexed, watching the ants as he listened.
Ayame was squashing Yuki (We're pretty sure he was trying to hug him) and crying,
at times using the unlucky nezumi for a Kleenex.
Kyo, for the first time ever, sat perfectly still.
Wide-eyed.
His mouth hung open.
Shigure lifted his jaw to shut it and eventually had to enlist the help of an old friend: Duct Tape.
With Kyo's lower facial area covered in adhesive, they were ready to begin.
Shigure had gone a bit crazy with the duct tape...
He was actually duct-taped
Spread-eagled (Easiest way, not for that you bunch of Hebi gutterbrains.)
To a bed. (Not for hentai purposes, let's hope.)
Kagura's, to be exact. (Abandon all hope, ye who are Kyo fangirls...)
And Akito, having by some miraculous co-inky dink come back from the dead as a Yorkshire Terrier (Okay, so she's only read up to volume 8 and hasn't figured out Akito's zodiac spirit.) yipped loudly at Shigure. He spoke Inu Yokai, the only thing they were both fluent in. (;Akito's voice; /Shigure's/)
:That's crazy Gertrude! What are we interfering here for?;
/Richard couldn't resist./
;And the two kids. They know hmm?;
/Yeah.../
;The girl has a crush on Kyo.;
/Kyo has a crush on her./
;This bites.;
/Yeah...wanna belly-rub, Akito-san?/
;Why not?;
Whilst the great and powerful Akito Sohma rolled over for a tummy-rub, the rest of the group investigated the corpse, finding a tape recorder and a mini-ant farm underneath the right lung.
They also found marks indicating that she'd been hanged, and liver damage indicative of drugs. Recent, new to her system. But excessive, way more than needed.
Crazy Gertrude was an old miko who'd found out before meeting any Sohmas and picked up on it. A family friend, of sorts. But she was nice. Like a cross between a grandma and an auto mechanic, yes, but nice. Who would murder her?
Back at Kagura's......
Kyo was lying on the bed, twitching from side to side as it was his only way to fidget and he needed to fidget, he was so terrified of what would happen if he could not find a way out. He'd thought of slipping his bracelet and putting it back on once the change broke his bonds but decided it was only a last resort.
The TV was on, droning on about a new type of garage door that had a remote that could open the door from 1 mile away.
Then the discovery channel returned, also droning, about a new Astronaut being brought down from orbit a few blocks away. Kyo had been wondering what all those noises were outside. But as he craned his neck to look, the TV showed a close-up of the astronaut's picture.
Kyo froze, his blood trying to decide between freezing right there in his very veins and/or arteries, and curdling even though neither was possible.
The news came on, flashing ghastly photos of the body of Crazy Gertrude while explaining that just as the astronaut launched, about a block away from her house, she hung herself with her garage door.
The bracelet slipped off with a flick of his wrist.
He changed as quickly as he could, forcing it faster even though it hurt to do that.
He grabbed the bracelet and forced himself back, holding back tears as the news droned on and on.
