goddess, Affluentheartache and Venus of love. Shout-outs to: Venus groupies

(Aino Yuy aka Usagi-hater, Transcendent, Serenity-Kaiba and Jd-anney) and

whoever else I forgot to mention.

Summary:

Milliardo never bargained for a wife but to his scorn. His wife was a shallow,

spoiled and rich debutante named Mina Aino or so he thought? He despised women

after he was jilted by his unfaithful fiancé. He vowed never to leave his heart

unguarded ever again. Above all else, he was a respectable lieutenant even if

it means sacrificing his honor to be caught in a most compromising situation?

Though her exquisite beauty and youthful exuberance drew many admirers, she hid

a mask of pain and loneliness. She was a runaway, escaping the past that she

left behind. Her short-lived happiness threatened once again, fated to a

loveless marriage. To her surprise, she was granted a freedom yet despite the

indifference that her husband felt for her. As an exchange for her gratitude,

she pledged to remain loyal by his side which he easily dismissed such a foolish

notion. The test of her loyalty was about to be questioned when her husband's

career was at stake - for his life…

His wife's action astounded him and thus, his admiration for her grew…. Without

realizing, that he was falling for his own wife… He set out to prove worthy of

her love as an officer and a gentleman…

Prologue: The age of innocence - Part 1

Ten years ago

Hawthorne Estates in Liverpool, England

It terrified her. The never-ending screams and outbursts vibrated

through the walls of her room as if a thunderous storm swept pass by causing

havoc and destruction. The depths of her pain stricken soul crying out for the

turmoil to end.

Every night, she would hear her parents argued. It was a vicious cycle of

violence and hatred between married couples who were supposedly in love with one

another or so she thought?

A bitter, sad conclusion came to Mina's life that night. It would carry out the

heavy burden of her past for the rest of her life… A different kind of

betrayal!

A large, expensive oriental vase was hurled as it crashes loudly against the

wall. Soon, a heated argument erupted inside an enclosed bedroom.

"Damn you to hell, the day I met you!" A woman cursed, her eyes brimmed with hot

tears running down on her cheeks.

"You are no means of a lady but a whore!" The man spat back. His fearsome eyes

glared dangerously.

"Unlike your other mistresses?" The woman answered scornfully, her hands

clenched at her side. Her husband stepped forward and gave a resounding slap on

the face.

Mina was awaken by a loud noise next to her room. It came from her parents'

bedroom. Gripped with fear, she immediately took the covers off and bolted out

of her bed. She headed towards the door and clutched at the doorknobs. She

opened the doors slightly to take a sneak peek outside. She was surprised to

find her mother scurrying out of her bedroom, carrying a baggage in tow.

"Mother! Mother! Where are you going?" She questioned. "Mother!"

Her mother ignored her but continued to trail down the stairs. Panic-stricken, Mina

pursued behind.

"Mina, get back to your room this instance!" Her father barked an order.

"Mother, don't go" Mina pleaded, sobbing uncontrollably. She tried to reach for

her mother's hand as they raced down the stairwell.

Her mother turned to her, a forlorn look on her face. "I hope you can find a

way to forgive me, Mina." Her mother said sincerely, kissing tenderly the top of

her forehead. Taking a close good look at her daughter for the last time, she

hugged her and said her final goodbye. She walked out of her life, forever…

"Why mother why?" She asked herself in disbelief. It was a question that

haunted her until now…
