Chapter 6 
Zechs and I have been&n bsp;dating for about four months. Before you& nbsp;even ask, no we have not 
had s ex. Come on people, I’m only&nb sp;16. He comes over to the church regul arly, in fact he is 
there so frequently that people&nb sp;are beginning to think that he lives  there. I know his parents 
are away on business&nb sp;a lot, but really parents donâ€&trad e;t just give up there kids because they 
work&nbs p;a lot, right? Besides Zechs is 18. Legally he’s an adult.&n bsp;
Mei has adopted him as her older brother and Mia still mine. The girls do not give us much 
alone time. So, make o ut session at the church are infrequent and very rushed.&nb sp;We barely 
have time for a few ki sses let alone anything else. I think that is why Sister Helen allows th e 
girls to hang around us so much. They’re preventive maintenance. Just  ;the other day we 
took the girls ou t for ice cream and a day in the park. While we were at the p ark the girls 
were slightly ahead of&nbs p;us skipping and laughing. Zechs and I  were holding hands keeping an 
eye on&nbs p;them while talking when a woman in her fortie s walked up to us. 
“It&aci rc;€™s nice to see a gay couple&nb sp;out holding hands while taking their littl e ones to the park. Not 
to mention& nbsp;that they are letting more gay couples&n bsp;to adopt. I never thought I would se e the 
day. When I was a little girl there were so many protests  for gay rights, riots and hate 
crimes&nb sp;committed against gays. Those were horrible times.†
Maybe she is older than I initially tho ught. Before I could refute her claims Zechs piped up 
with, â€œWell, it i s a nice day out; we were both off. Besides we have&n bsp;nothing to be ashamed 
of, we love&nb sp;each other and our girls. You will ne ver guess how long it took me to convince 
him to adopt and that we were ready for  ;children.†I was standing there with& nbsp;my mouth 
hanging open. Mei and Mia obviously heard the conversation or at least part of it because 
they ran t o us saying â€˜Papa’&nbs p;and â€˜Daddy’. Mia jumped into my arms and Mei into Zechs&a circ;€™. Mia 
decided I was attract ing flies and closed my mouth. 
â&e uro;œAngels.†With that she turned&nb sp;and left. 
Turning on Zechs, â€& oelig;I cannot believe you said that to  her.†
“I was just having a little bit of fun and look  ;how happy she is thinking we are a family.&a circ;€ He 
gave me a sweet kiss  ;and I could not stay mad. I did roll my eyes just f or good measure. 
By the end of the& nbsp;day all for of us were exhausted. The girls& nbsp;had us running all over the 
park, inside and&nb sp;out of the jungle gym. We pushed them on the swings. Twirled th em on the 
merry go round. We even&n bsp;fed the ducks by the pond. Once we&n bsp;buckled them into Zechs car 
they were fast asleep.&nb sp;They slept the entire car ride, which  ;was no more than a 15 minute 
ride. Gett ing out of the car we gently shut t he doors. Opening the back doors we each  
unbuckled one of the girls and sco oped them into our arms. Careful not to wake them and 
carried them to their room. Sister Helen met us at the door knowing that we were going to&n bsp;
have our hands full. 
“ They are just plum tuckered out. What do you all do today?& acirc;€ 
“Everything there is&nb sp;to do at the park, we did it.†
â&eur o;œDid the four of you have a nice  time?†

I looked at Zechs and turned back to Sister Helen. â&euro ;œThe best.†
I walked Zechs back to car. I was immediately in his&nb sp;arms and being given the slowest most 
sensual most passionate kiss that we have ever shared.&nbs p;“Today is now the best day of my 
life. I cannot remember when I had so much fun.†
“Yeah…me  too.†
“I’ m looking forward to the day when we can do that with our own ki ds.†Zechs released me 
got into&n bsp;his car and drove off. 
â€&oeli g;He wants to spend his life with me?!&a circ;€ I heard footsteps approach and tu rned to see Father 
Maxwell standing not five feet away with a small smile gracin g his lips.
