The Guardians of earth

Chapter 5: First Confrontation

Ranma and Ryoga were on their way. They didn't really know where they were
going, only that there was a good chance of them
finding another guardian in Juuban. It worked for them, just as long as they
could stay away from Nerima.

They rented a small apartment in Juuban using Ranma's savings. What had
surprised Ranma was that Ryoga had a lot of cash on
him. So they could buy a lot of food for themselves.

In addition to the apartment they got themselves a job. Now both of them worked
at a construction site, and got paid pretty
well. Their strength, speed and endurance all came in handy while working. They
got paid enough to pay monthly rent, and
always had enough for food. They even had some leftover cash for extra clothes
and some other stuff for entertainment. Which
they used either to buy books, CD's or rent movies.

The two martial artists in question were currently in their small apartment.
Which consisted of a small living room, a small
bathroom and a little kitchen. In the living room they had a couch big enough
for three people. A dresser in which they kept
their limited amount of clothing. A shelf which had a few books, a few music
CD's, a travelling stereo, a TV, and a video
player.

The two boys were each doing their own activities. Ranma was lying in bed
reading one of his newest books, the book was
called 'The Wheel of time: The eye of the world'. Ranma really enjoyed these
books, even though they were in English.
He had bought two box sets, one set containing three books each. He had bought
them in an American shop not far from
where they lived.

Ryoga on the other hand was currently watching TV. There was a comedy on. Some
old American movie called 'Dumb and Dumber'.
Throughout the movie almost the only thing that Ryoga did was laugh. Those
Americans really cracked him up.

"Hey Ryoga? It's almost ten o'clock. Time for our night shift." Ranma said
putting away his book and turning off his reading
light.

"Already? Damn, and I was having fun. These Americans are funny as hell." Ryoga
said turning of the TV. He then turned to
Ranma. "So, how's the book?"

"Oh, this? It's pretty damn good actually. Glad I started reading. I'm enjoying
it." Ranma said, answering Ryoga's question.

"Heh, who would've though. Ranma Saotome the most arrogant and egoistical
martial artist in the world, reading." Ryoga said,
standing up from the floor and chuckling to himself.

"Hey! The arrogance and ego is just so I can fire off a Fierce Tiger Domineering
okay? I know I'm arrogant and egoistical
enough for a whole army, but I'm changing alright? So just gimme a break!" Ranma
said with annoyance in his voice. He wasn't
angry at Ryoga, the lost boy was telling the truth. He just hated to be reminded
of his bad attitude.

"Yeah, yeah. Sorry, sorry. Let's go alright? We don't wanna be late." Ryoga said
quickly changing the topic.

Both boys quickly got dressed into their usual clothes. They had bought some
other clothes too, but they only wear them
as casual clothes. When they didn't work or train.

After getting dressed they bounded out the window from their third floor
apartment and onto the rooftops. It didn't take them
long at all to get to the construction site. It was a building at it's earliest
stages, when you put up floors of the building.
Currently the 16th floor was being built, that's where Ranma worked, while Ryoga
worked at the bottom.

Both boys quickly put on their helmets and went to their stations, letting their
supervisors know that they had come for
the night shift one the way.

Ranma had a pretty easy job, or at least he thought he did. He had to drill
holes in the metal planks they used, and he had
to hammer in lots and lots of nails in lots and lots of places, which was a
piece of cake thanks to his speed.

Ryoga on the other hand, had to move a lot of different heavy material and
equipment to different places. Thanks to his inhuman
strength he had no problem at all moving it with his body alone. But he had to
be watched at all times by other workers so that
he wouldn't get lost.

After working well into the morning, both boys quit at around 6 am. They bounded
home the same way they did to work and went
to sleep the moment they got home. Ranma slept in the couch, while Ryoga in a
futon.

For some weird reason Ranma and Ryoga always woke up the exact same moment. This
happened again at precisely 12 am that same
day. Both of them sat up in their respective sleeping places, stretched and
yawned. Ranma got off the couch, put one his pants
and went into the kitchen to put together a quick meal. Ryoga on the other hand
stayed in his futon. He never went anywhere
in the apartment unless led there by Ranma, so he wouldn't get lost.

After five minutes of waiting Ranma exited the kitchen with a few plates of food
balanced on his hands and arms. He gives some
of them to Ryoga. They both finish their food in only 2 minutes eating with
usual gusto. Ryoga quickly got dressed and went
over to Ranma as he thought or rather felt that he had something to say to him.

"So Ranma. What is it you want to tell me?" He asks the pigtailed boy while
approaching him.

"Heh, your getting more perceptive by the minute. Good, I don't have to waste
any time. Ryoga we need to change our plans."
Ranma said, looking rather serious.

"What do you mean? We just got here, and now we gotta leave?" Ryoga asked,
confused and disappointed.

"I never said anything about leaving. I just said that we needed to change our
plans. What I mean is, one of us has to leave
here, to search for the other guardians. We can't both stay here, one of the
guardians is here while the others are out
there somewhere." Ranma answered.

"So, one of us has to leave huh? I'll do it." Ryoga said. Knowing that Ranma was
actually asking which one had to leave.

"You sure? With your sense of direction, you'll have a very hard time finding
your way. Even if it has been getting better."

"I've been getting a lot better. And in case you want me to go the right way.
Point in the wrong direction." Ryoga said,
chuckling slightly at the joke.

"Yeah, I will. Anyway back to the plan. You're gonna have to go to the
mountains. I heard there are many shrines in the
mountains in Okayama. Go there, 'cause I've been getting a weird feeling from
that place."

"Okayama huh? Okay I can go there. So, when do I leave?" Ryoga asked.

"Right now!" Ranma said, throwing Ryoga's travelling pack at him out of nowhere.
Ryoga caught it with ease. He grinned at Ranma,
stood up and quickly got dressed. Then he turned to Ranma.

"Heh, I knew you'd say that. So, which way to the Okayama mountains?" Ryoga
asked, still grinning at his friend. Ranma pointed in
the exact opposite direction from where Okayama was, and Ryoga, doing what they
both knew he'd do. Went the right way. "See you
later Ranma. Good luck around here" he said waving and then ran off.

"Heh, good luck Ryoga. You'll need it." Ranma said quietly, grinning. "Now,
first order of business. Guardian hunting." that said he
jumped out the window and roof hopped into the streets of Juuban.

That day Ranma searched the whole Juuban district. Stopping sometimes to either
extend his senses or to have a quick bite.
By the time evening came Ranma was no closer to finding a guardian than when he
had started. So, tired and hungry he decided
to go home. But before he could he suddenly felt an enormous aura in the
distance. A very dark aura.

So he did the only thing that came to mind. He quickly jumped to the nearest
roof, and bounded in the direction of the aura.
After hopping at full speed for almost a minute he saw something that made the
hair at the back of his neck stand on end.
Standing there, or rather walking around and blasting buildings with energy
beams was a 20 foot demon. What made it look scary was the fact that it had 15
foot long bat like wings sticking out of his back.

Secondly, it had a murderous glare on its dark face. Like these buildings had
murdered its parents. It was covered in darkness,
which made it scary as hell.

Thirdly, it radiated a darker aura than Ranma had ever seen. It showed that it
had incredible power. The fact that it took only
one of its blasts to completely obliterate a building proved that fact.

*Holy shit! This thing's radiating more power than Saffron and Herb combined!*
Ranma screamed in his mind. He had never sensed
something as powerful as that thing. *If this keeps up the whole district will
be destroyed, and when it finishes here where'll it go next?!* Ranma thought in
alarm, ready to pounce on the thing, whatever it was.

"I Sailor Moon, in the name of the moon will right wrongs and triumph over
evil!" This was a voice that happened to interrupt him
just as he was about to fire off one of his ki blasts. What he saw would have
made him laugh if the situation weren't so serious.
There stood, nine females dressed in weird clothes with extremely short skirts,
each a different type of colour.

Then Ranma felt something that surprised him. Each of these girls we're giving
off rather powerful auras. All of them pretty much
evenly strong, although in different ways. The power of the girls didn't even
come close to matching the demon. *But if they fight
together as a team, they might hurt it.* Thought Ranma. *Hope they won't mind
some extra help.* With that though he
jumped toward the roof the girls were currently standing on.

Before he reached them he heard almost simultaneous battle cries that he
recognized as attack names.

"Moon Spiral Heart Attack" Sailor Moon shouted out. Releasing her attack.

"Shine Aqua Illusion" Sailor Mercury's shout.

"Burning Mandala" came from Sailor Mars.

"Sparkling Wide Pressure" from Sailor Jupiter.

"Crescent Beam" came from Sailor Venus

"World Shaking" was Sailor Uranus's shout.

"Deep Submerge" last but not least, Sailor Neptune.

While seven of the females fired off attacks, the other two just stood there. As
if ready to back the others up. Then Ranma turned
his head in the direction of the monster to see how much damage the attacks did.
He saw that it had fallen back and thought that it was
dead, but his instinct and senses said otherwise.

*Holy cow! Those attacks didn't effect him at all. Then why the hell fake pain?
Oh shit! A trap!* Ranma quickly gathered his wits as he felt
the creature power up. He bounded in front of the scouts that were all rather
surprised to see him. *It's gonna fire! What to do?!*
Then he felt the actual power of the demons attack, which was huge! *Shit! It's
too strong! I gotta deflect it's blast. Only got one shot at this!*

Ranma powered up as quickly as he could. Radiating a cold aura, he finished just
as the demon fired a huge energy beam at him.
Ranma felt the power, and hoped will all his spirit that he could deflect it.
His dream came true when when with the shout of
"Heavenly Dragon Accession, horizontal blast!!!" a giant tornado extended from
the ground around him and hit the giant blast.
It effectively deflected the strike right back and into the creature, which was
blown back into a building.

*Son of a bitch! T-that took a lot out of me. I dunno if I can do that again.*
Ranma panicked. He quickly turned around to look at the girls
that he just saved.

They were all rather shocked by the looks of it. Most were gaping while a few
were only staring. Although the two girls that had not fired
off attacks earlier caught his eyes. The girl in the purple skirt that looked to
be around 14 and was also wielding some kind of halberd was
smiling at him, a pure smile of gratitude. While the girl, or rather woman,
which had long dark green hair and a matching skirt and was holding
a staff that kind of looked like a key, was looking at him all over as if trying
to read his body like a book.

Before he could say or do anything he felt the creature, whatever it was,
standing up. He turned back into its direction, getting into a fighting
stance, ready to fight for his life if needed. Then what really scared him, was
that demon spoke.

"Hehehe...figures that one of the Guardians would be strong before his powers
surfaced. Too bad that I'm not allowed to kill you yet.
I would take great pleasure in ripping you apart." It spoke in a very dark and
focused voice.

"Who the hell are you?! How the hell do you know that I'm a Guardian?!" Ranma
was rather surprised that this creature knew what he was.

"I am Kirac, the first of the 13 Generals of the Underworld, as for how I know
who you are...Guardians and Generals are bitter enemies.
I know my enemies." he answered Ranma's questions with his dark voice. Then for
a moment he seemed surprised because of something. Then
after quickly collecting himself, the I General spoke once more.

"Well, well, well. I come in search of testing one of the Guardians and I find 3
instead. Too bad I'm not allowed to kill you yet. Oh, well
I'll have my time. I hope we meet again Ranma Saotome Guardian of Lightning,
although the next time one of us will not survive the meeting."
he said, then he flapped his wings a few times and disappeared in flash of white
light.

*Ok, that was weird. I'm alive though. Wonder what he meant with that he wasn't
allowed to kill me...* Ranma wipes the sweat that had formed on
his forehead from the strain of his attack. Then he realized something that
Kirac said. *Wait a sec! Three Guardians?!* he turned around at the
speed of a bullet.

That's when he felt it, the power he felt Ryoga radiating before they were
'awakened'. He notices it's those two girls that didn't fire off any
attacks. He noticed the marks on their foreheads. 'Wood' and 'Wind' they read.
*Whoa, two more already...* But before Ranma could continue
thinking he was bombarded with shouts and questions from the other seven girls.

Shouts of things like 'Who the heck are you' 'How on earth did you do that' and
'Can I have your phone number' bombarded his ears. *Wait a sec..
my phone number?!* Ranma decided to completely ignore persistent girls in shorts
skirts and walked towards the new guardians. He stopped right
in front of them and looked more closely.

The girl with the halberd had short purple hair, which he didn't quite notice
earlier. What really caught his attention was the bright green
kanji that was on her forehead, which said 'Wood'. Then he turned his gaze to
the other one. She was one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen,
the short skirt just added to the beauty. Then he noticed her forehead, there
was a grey kanji that said 'Wind'. *So...Wind and Wood eh? Cool.
Now...time to do this.* And before anyone could stop him, he put his hands on
the girls foreheads...
