Ch.1
Finding A Surprise
Elizabeth sat at her desk trying to figure out what she should
do for Halloween. Her school always threw a party at this time of year and she
had to figure out what to dress as. She'd dressed as a cat last year at the
persistance of her friend Micah. But this year she wanted to dress up as
something better, which she had no idea what it was.
The doorbell rang and she stood up calling to her mom that she
was going to the mall with Micah. When she opened her door Micah stood their,
her dark brown curlly hair pulled back into a pony tail.
"I see you're dressed like always.", Elizabeth said, she'd been
trying to get Micah to wear more girlly stuff but still the change wasn't showing.
Instead Micah was wearing a pair of jeans and a guy's T-shirt. She never wore
makeup and Elizabeth had given up asking her to(or that's what Micah
thought).
"Can we skip this for the day, I really want to make it to the mall
before it closes.", Micah replied stepping back so that Elizabeth could get out
the door. Elizabeth stepped out closing the door behind her.
"Ok, but just for today." she replied laughing at her friends
annoyed expression. They both headed to Micah's black Ford Mustang. "I want
your car.", Elizabeth said running her hand apreciatingly across the hood as
she walked to the passenger side door.
"I know you do.", Micah said impishly. Elizabeth sent her a dirty
look. Micah made it a point to tease her about the wanting of her car. They
both got in and Micah drove to Bancove Mall.

Micah and Elizabeth were walked past a window full of
antiques when Elizabeth had the odd sensation that she should go in. "Hey
Micah, let's go in here.", she said walking through the door.
"Ok.", Micah said following right behind her. Elizabeth looked
around her, there was things from every part of the world in here. She came to
a stop beside a display case full of swords. One sword in particular drew her
attention. It's sheath was black with a wolf howling at a crescent moon in silver
on the side.
"Hey Micah come look at this.", Elizabeth called. Micah came
over from a stack of books she'd been looking at. Elizabeth showed the sword to
her.
"Oh, wow. That's beautiful. Look at the hilt, it's purple.", Micah
exclaimed staring in awe. "Hey isn't that your real last name?" Elizabeth
looked to where she was pointing. Sure enough the name Zaling was written
down the side of the the part of the blade that was protruding from the sheath.
"I need this sword.", Elizabeth said as an ergent need to have
it began to bubble inside of her.
"Elizabeth that swords a hundred and twenty dollars. Do you
even have that much?", Micah said turning to look at her friend.
"I have eighty nine. Could you lend me the rest?", Elizabeth
clasped her hands as if she was praying.
"I guess, but as soon as we get to your house you're paying
me back.", Micah said letting out a sigh.
"Oh, I will, I will. I promise.", Elizabeth said jumping up in
down with joy. "Sir I'd like to buy this.", Elizabeth called to the man standing
at the check-out counter.

After buying her sword, Elizabeth and Micah left the mall.
Micah took Elizabeth home and after Elizabeth payed her back she left.
Elizabeth propt her sword against her wall and got into
bed, they'd gotten in late and it was already way passed her bedtime. She
drifted off with a feeling that something big was about to happen.
