Ch. 8

Sesshomaru refused to go stay with Inuyasha and Elizabeth was
beginning to get irate with him. "Why ever not? You won't be able to protect yourself,
let alone Rin." Sesshomaru didn't reply. He was trying to use his nose to see where they
were. "Lord Sesshomaru!" He turned his head to look at Elizabeth (or the best that he
could). She hadn't been using his title to adress him and it was a surprise that she'd
started to now (though he didn't show his surprise).
"This Sesshomaru will be fine. I am not some weak human."
as soon as he said it Sesshomaru knew he'd upset her. She was pissed and it was such
a strong feeling that he could almost touch it.
"And what, may I ask, is wrong with being human? If I were
you, I'd pull my head out of my ass and take a good look around. You demons have been
trying to kill us off since the beginning ,have you not, but yet we're still here aren't we."
Elizabeth said as she turned her body to face him where he sat behind her on the dragon.
Sesshomaru growled at her superior tone, "My head is not up
my ass as you so rudely put it.", his voice was indignant as he said this and Elizabeth
couldn't help but laugh. He continued to glare at her though he was staring over her head.
"Oh, come on 'my lord'." she said grinning when Sesshomaru's
frown grew deeper at the way she'd said 'my lord'. "Admit it we've earned the right to
stand beside you with our heads held high."
"Their heads would be rolling across the ground if they dared
stand close to me." Sesshomaru said darkly. Elizabeth gave him a disbelieving look that he
couldn't see before she grinned wickedly. Elizabeth had been a flirt in her old time so why
should that change just because she was in the past with a demon who could kill her with
out her knowing? She didn't see any reason.
"If that's so, where's my head going?" She said as she pushed
herself towards him until her back was pressed firmly against his armered covered chest.
Sesshomaru's reaction was automatic, with a deep growl he grabbed Elizabeth around her
waist, his claws digging deep beneath her skin. Elizabeth winced but did not move any
more than that.
"I could kill you right now." to confirm his threat he
released a small drip of poison into her skin, but not enough to kill. Elizabeth felt it burn
it's way up her side, making it go numb.
"Yeah, you could but then you wouldn't know why that
Naraku guy tried to kidnap me." Elizabeth replied with an emotionless face that riveled
the man's whose claws were imbedded into her sides.
"Your not that important." Sesshomaru said catching the
change in her sent.
"I've heard that my whole life. Tell me something I don't
know." she placed her hands on his and gently pulled until he relented. "You didn't have to
poison me you know. I'd do well without." Sesshomaru's brow furrowed, not at any time
durring their exchange had the smell of fear entered her scent.
"Do you not care for your life?" Elizabeth, caught by
surprise by the question, did not reply. "You do not?"
"What good is a life that will be used to do nothing at
all but to destroy a world we have been given out of the kindness of our God?"
"How are you the reason for the worlds destruction?"
Sesshomaru asked not understanding how a human could possibly destroy a whole world.
"I do not know, but I have seen it." Elizabeth had never
talked to anyone about the visions and dreams she had, and she found she wanted
Sesshomaru to know. She wanted him to know more than anything else she'd ever wanted.
"You have seen it?" Elizabeth had gotten Sesshomaru's
attention earlier with her stunt but she now had it fully.
"Yes, I've had a dream where I'm trapped in a giant
gem of some kind and I can see outside where the world is covered by ash and fire. There's
always a dark figure standing beside another man I can see, but I've don't know where I've seen
him, they're beating on my prison, trying to get me to do something but I can't escape and
there's a voice in my head telling me to ignore them and just go to sleep. I used to wake up
screaming."
"Used to?" Sesshomaru had been quiet until she'd
finished.
"I stopped after one my mother's boyfriends
started coming into my room to teach me not to wake him up." Elizabeth was
holding her side where Sesshomaru's poison was at work. She felt sick.
Sesshomaru noticed the change and quickly
lowered himself until he could smell the blood and poison right beneath his
nose. "What are..." Elizabeth sucked in a breath when she felt his tongue slide
across the torn flesh through the rip in her dress. Immediately the numbness
began to fade away.
When he raised back up he answered her half
asked question, "The remedy to the poison is in my souliva."
"Good to know, the next time you poison me I'll
get you to spit on me." Elizabeth said a little unsettled. She didn't see it but
she'd made Sesshomaru smile (a very rare sight unless he's about to kill
something or someone). "Now let's go stay with Inuyasha." And the smile died
right on his lips.

((I used the idea of Sesshomaru's spit being the antidote for his poison from one of my favorite
fanfictions, I thought it was a brilliant idea and I'm sorry I'm so unoriginal that I had to take
someone else's ideas. Don't hate me...))
