note: I'm making up the names of the places they go because I don't know anything about Japan
geography. ((...)) - these meen I'm talking to you. Not a part of the story.

Ch.7

Sesshomaru landed Ah-Un on a ledge of Hikori Mountain. The ledge lead to a
cave that Sesshomaru knew housed the demon Umi. He had heard that she was a sea-serpant
youkai that had been taken from the ocean and placed into a small pond inside the cave. She was
supposedly able to see the future but Sesshomaru thought it nothing but the stupidity of human
nonsense ((wow, I think I just insulted myself)). Even so, Sesshomaru could feel her power and
knew she was strong.
Elizabeth hopped off the dragon (which she'd finally given up the whole
'lizard' thing) and followed behind Sesshomaru as he entered the cave. She kept far enough away
from Sesshomaru so he wouldn't assume she was scared but not far enough that she wouldn't be
able to grab him in a choke hold if something caused her to go into berzerker mode. Her dress
dragged in the back but was thankfully made so that the front was barely above the ground so she
wouldn't trip on the it. That would be embarasing Elizabeth thought as she rest her hand against
her sword. No one had noticed it except Kagome who had only commented on how pretty it was.
That was probably because of the yards of fabrick covered it most of the time.
By this time Elizabeth was so lost in her thoughts she hadn't realized
Sesshomaru had stopped. She walked into him but because she hadn't been going fast, neither
of them were dumped on the floor, but it did cause Sesshomaru to grunt which made Elizabeth
giggle before the look he shot over his shoulder at her made her quiet down.
When Sesshomaru turned his attention back to the front of them, Elizabeth
took a peek around him to see why he'd stopped. What she saw made her blood run cold. There
was woman, who looked like a mermaid except she had no fins on the end of her tail, chained to
the wall of the cave. She looked like she hadn't eaten for a month the way you could see her bones.
The only thing covering her was her hair, which fell over shoulders to lay on the surface of the
water that she was submerged in.
Elizabeth couldn't see her face because her head was tilted forward, but
when Sesshomaru growled the woman slowly raised her head. Immediately Elizabeth jumped
back behind Sesshomaru. The woman's mouth was covered in dried blood and her eyes were an
eery green. Deciding she didn't like this place any more, Elizabeth huddled against Sesshomaru's
back and was relieved when the only movement he made was to stiffen a little.

Sesshomaru felt Elizabeth push into his back, the sudden scent of fear made
his adrenaline run. Which made him stiffen in anticipation. The demon who sat in front of him
with her hands clasped was staring at him hungrily. "Lord Sesshomaru. What a pleasure to
finally meet you.", she said in creepy-beyond-all-reason voice.
Even Sesshomaru had to admit this creature was unsettling. She was slowly
starving to death, but the blood on her face sugested she'd managed to eat something, and by the
smell Sesshomaru could tell it'd been a human.((What kind of idiot would walk up to this lady?))
Sesshomaru nodded his greeting to the woman. "I've heard you can create
spells, this Sesshomaru wants you to make a spell so that this human can understand me.", he said
tugging Elizabeth out from behind him with his only arm. Elizabeth sqeaked in surprise but other
than that she did not express her fear. If Sesshomaru hadn't had the ability to smell emotions he'd
never of known that she was scared. He held her by the arm, presenting her before him.
The demon, Umi, looked at Elizabeth with open curiousity. "Um, hi."
Elizabeth greeted. The demon's eyes flashed for a moment before she raised her eyes to meet
Sesshomaru's.
"This girl already understands you.", she said a little smile on her lips
as she stared into space.
"She does not speak this language. How could she understand what
we're saying?", Sesshomaru was becoming annoyed.
"She already knows that too, she's just forgotten the memories.", she
replied mysteriously. Sesshomaru glared at her smiling face. If wasn't so damn useful he'd have
killed her already.
"Then make her remember." Umi sighed, he wasn't very fun to play
with, all her other customers had been fun. She'd usually make them so mad they forgot she was
a threat and would come closer to try to beat her, ending up as her next meal. She was hungry
again but these people weren't stupid. She would love to get her hands on the young lord, but
she did not even dare touch the girl or him. She knew whose child the girl was and
she saw the end of her own life if she ended her's. Umi'd been warned that she would come here,
bringing along her demon. She'd also been told that if she helped them she would be released and
returned to her home, but if she did not she'd rot in Hell for the rest of eternity.
Giving up her game, Umi finally agreed to help, "I will cast the spell,
but I'll have to use something of your power to do it." Sesshomaru didn't like the sound of that.
"Don't worry though, once the spell sets you'll return to normal." Umi added grinning.
"What exactly do you mean?" Sesshomaru watched her as she
answered.
"The spell needs demon or holy energy to be able to connect with
its host, but since she's just a human..." for the moment. She thought then cotinued,"You'll have to
provide it. It has to be one of your five senses though and I get to choose which one." Sesshomaru
glared at the woman.
"How long?" Umi looked up from the water where her gaze had
drifted while she was pondering which sense she shoul choose.
"Oh.", she said when she realized what he meant,"Until the next
full moon." (three weeks)
"Fine." Sesshomaru growled out,"Pick one." Umi sat for a
moment thinking about which one. I could pick sense of touch, no he'd end burning alive or
something. I'm not alloud to do anything that would get them killed. Maybe hearing... no that'd
get him killed too. Oh! I've got it!
Grinning widely she exclaimed,"I've got one!" Grabbing the knife
that she hid behind her, she gestured for them to step toward her. Sesshomaru cautiosly stepped
forward pushing Elizabeth in front of him. "Give me your hand." Umi commanded,"I'll need your
blood." Sesshomaru watched her carefully as she cut open his finger.
Elizabeth looked on, shocked about what the other two were
doing. The woman had cut open Sesshomaru's finger and then proceeded to take hold of his hand.
Before Elizabeth realized what was going on she found her arm gripped by the woman's other
chained hand. Pulling back Elizabeth's sleeve, she then took Sesshomaru's bleeding finger and
began to draw on the inside of Elizabeth's lower arm, just beneath the bend of her elbow, making
sure that Sesshomaru's claw didn't touch her skin.
Elizabeth grimmaced when she felt the slight burning that began
when the woman let go of the both of them. When the mark began to glow a deep green color she
looked up to see the woman grinning, "Let me assist you in leaving." Elizabeth didn't even have
enough time to gasp in surprise at the realization that she'd been able to understand her before
suddenly they were standing somewhere in the forest below the mountain with AH-Un sleeping
casually to their right.
"Damn it." Sesshomaru said causing Elizabeth to jump. She
stared at him watching as his kept searching around like he couldn't see. Elizabeth watched him
some more before she slowly lifted her hand to wave in front of his face. His eyes didn't follow
her hand at all but he did stop blinking. "Stop. I can't see anything but I can still my sense of
smell and sound.", he said before slowly (for him) grabbing her wrist.
I can understand him? Is that why we went up there? she
thought, but instead asked, "Why did she take your ability to see?" She'd realized that the woman
must have done it because he hadn't been blind before they'd went there.
"So it worked. The mark on your arm gives you the ability
to speak this language and understand it. The price was my temporary inability to see.", he didn't
look too happy about not being able to see.
"Temporary? When will it return.?" Elizabeth asked fearing
the answer would not be good.
"My sight will return with the next full moon." Sesshomaru
replied, he didn't realize that Elizabeth didn't know when the next full moon was. I'll have to ask
Kagome when I see her. I just hope it's not too long.
she thought as she grabbed his hand and
helped (though he'd never admit he needed it) him to Ah-Un. The stoic lord would be traveling on
the dragon with Elizabeth for awhile.
