"You're not staying with me?" Kagome asked

"Can't," Inuyasha responded. "You'll be fine."

"Yeah," Sango said. "I'll be upstairs if you need back up and don't worry I won't make it worse."

"Yeah but -"

"Look," he began, "You convinced your mother to take off work early come now didn't you?"

"No!" she shrieked. "Minako did that!"

Inuyasha sighed as he bent over to tie his shoe laces, after his talk with Kagome he realized that he had to face his fears as well and he had to do it alone. So, after the call to her mother was made he decided that, that was what Kagome needed as well. To face her fears alone because he felt it would be better for her in the long run.

"Listen Kagome," Minako began, "Inuyasha and I think this is something you need to handle alone."

"What!?!" she screamed. "I thought you said you'd be there to mediate!"

"I'll be in the next room if you need me but if you don't make her listen Kagome then she never will."

"But- but -"

"You'll be fine." Inuyasha repeated standing up.

"But I don't think I can do this, my mother is unbelievably stubborn."

"And so are you." Inuyasha said with a chuckle.

"I am not."

"I thought you trusted me?" Inuyasha asked as he walked up to her.

Kagome looked up at Inuyasha before dropping her head to look at the floor, she thought he would stay with her but now that he suddenly thought that she needed to confront her mother alone she wasn't so sure. She could've gone through it if Sango or Minako was right there too but they all just decided to be somewhere else.

"I do, but -"

Before Kagome could finish her sentence Inuyasha moved his hand under chin and brought her face up to look him in the eye.

"Then believe me when I say that you'll be fine, okay?"

Kagome blinked before bringing her hand up to take his clasping it tightly before looking at him straight back.

"Okay."

"Good." he said with a smile, "I'd better get going."

"Yeah." Kagome responded as she reluctantly dropped his hand.

"Good Luck," he said before turning around and walking to the door.

"Yo Inu!" Sango called from the top of the stairs.

"Yeah, what up, Pinky?" Inuyasha asked turning around.

"Give him hell." she said with a smile.

"Nothing less." he responded before turning back around, walking through the front door and closing it behind him.

As soon as Inuyasha left she began to pace rapidly while fiddling with her black t-shirt. She knew her mother would yell at her for what she was wearing as soon as she walked through the door. Even though all she had on was just a t-shirt and blue jeans, her mother always wanted her to look perfect without a hair out of place. She was tempted to go upstairs and change or at the very least change her hair from the messy ponytail she had it in to something else, but she kept telling herself that she wasn't her mother's doll she was her daughter and one with feelings and opinions. She could feel herself getting more anxious as her pacing began to pick up more speed. She wished that Inuyasha would walk back through the door, because for some reason just being near him made her feel just that much stronger.

Sango watched Kagome from the top of the stairs before shaking her head, she knew her mother was strict but the way she was carrying on it was like her mom was going to walk through the door with gun and shoot up the place or something.

"Where's everyone else?" Sango inquired suddenly.

"Oh, Kohaku and Shippo went out, Shiori is in the library , and Nazuna is at the indoor pool." Minako responded.

"Okay."

"Why?"

"Curios ity, and to make sure no one walks in on the discussion." Sango said making air quotes.

"Right."

Minako looked at Kagome who seemed about to have a heart attack and when she paced in her direction, she grabbed her shoulder, stopping her in her tracks.

"Deep breath Kagome," she started, now holding both of her shoulders.

"Right, deep breath." she responded before she heard the door-bell ring, making her jump.

"Oh gods! Oh gods!"

"You can do this Kagome," she said looking at her, "Just believe."

"I can do this." she repeated as Minako let go in order to answer the door.

"Ready?" she asked as placing her hand on the door knob as the door-bell sounded again.

Kagome repeated the words in her head a few times trying hard to make herself believe. She believed that Minako would help her if she needed and believed that Inuyasha really did believe in her. That's when she realized she should have just as much belief in herself, she took one more deep breath as the door-bell sounded a third time.

"Ready." she said back as Minako turned the door knob and opened the door, revealing a very professional looking woman in a business suit.

"Good-evening Mrs. Higarashi."

The woman looked up at Minako anger flashing through her brown eyes before she barged in the front door, slamming it behind her before facing a surprisingly calm Minako and only asked one thing.

"Where's Kagome?"
