Yo, I know I haven't updated in a while, but please forgive me! I just read most of Rosefire's fics and I feel ashamed of the weak writing skills I though I had. *sobs!*

Chapter 4

Side 2

~-~

"Kaede, I can't see the spot!" whined Kagome hopping up and down on one foot, the arrow pointed at the sky.

"Hai, I'm aware of that." Said Kaede lighting a candle lamp

"Hey, what's with the old timey stuff? Haven't you ever heard of a flashlight?" asked Kagome lowering her bow and putting notching the arrow

"Do not yet shoot, put some of your energy into the arrow first." As an after thought Kaede added quietly "Ye will do us all a favor,"

"Kaede, are you sure Kagome is up to this? After all, she was seriously injured a few minutes ago. Are you absolutely sure she is totally healed?" asked Sango skeptically

"Does this look like a sick woman to ye, Sango?" asked Kaede gesturing sadly to the dancing girl with a strung bow and arrow in her hands

"Well… no," Sango admitted cocking her head to get a better look at the now upside down Kagome, she was in a tripod

"Kagome please shoot now," said Kaede turning her full attention towards the girl

"Kay," said Kagome readying her bow

Kaede helped her with her posture and then told her to fire. The arrow shot forward, an oval of light wrapped around it. The arrow was perfectly infused with power, but it was headed for the north star.

"Kagome, try to aim a little lower." Said a sarcastic and arrogant voice from behind the girls.

"How long have you been there? That's the second time you've done that since we met!" said Kagome still slightly melodramatic

"I glad you're back to normal Kag, well, as normal as you can get at least." Said Inuyasha dodging a kick to the face. His eyes widened when he felt her foot on the side of his head

"ohhhh," Inuyasha moaned, his voice cracking as he fell to the ground

"You still have much to learn, novice Inu. Just because I attack head-on (no pun intended) does not mean that I can't change the attack to a side or downward movement." Said Kagome matter-of-factly

"Fuck off, I'm just out of practice." Said Inuyasha said getting up, his ego bruised

"Now now, that's not nice," said Kagome mockingly

"Go to hell," said Inuyasha threateningly holding his fist up to her face

"I'm already going there," said Kagome her eyes flat, obviously unfazed by the fist in her face

"See ya there Kag," said Sango watching the argument from a safe distance

"So, your goin' too?" asked Kagome turning towards Sango

"Yea, but I don't like to think about it really." Sango sighed "Everyone here except Kaede is going to hell. I think it's because we were chosen and when that happened, our souls were sold to the devil. Oh well"

Inuyasha and Kaede facefaulted at the sad conversation. Kaede was the first to resume normality and gave orders to Kagome to try once again. Kagome notched her arrow and prepared to shoot.

"Please don't try to help steady my arrow, I think that's what messed me up last time." Said Kagome dryly to Kaede, shrugging her hands off her and aiming. Twang, the arrow was released. It sped towards the point on the tree, and hit it's mark. When it hit, the oval of energy around it demolished the tree to a mere stump.

"Hey, I hit it!" Kagome exclaimed happily lowering her bow and smiling towards the others

"Yo, I'm glad you didn't use that much energy on me a few hours ago." Inuyasha said slightly stunned. Kagome turned her head and looked confused,

"But I used more on you because I was mad," Inuyasha sweatdropped and then got cocky

"Well then, that means that I must be really strong!"

"No, that just proves that you're a demon, well, half at least." Sango said with her eyes narrowed.

"Hey, what's that supposed to mean?" whined Inuyasha, his ears flattened

"Let us go inside, for it is merely two or three hours till sunrise." Kaede said starting to return to the house.

"Yea, I think so too," said Kagome in agreement following after Kaede

"Well, that leaves you Inu," said Sango turning to leave. Inuyasha stood there looking at the other three walk off into the darkness. He sighed and looked up at the sky. For some reason he felt calmer knowing that Kagome was safe. He decided not to think about it anymore and leapt into a large tree.

The tree brought back unpleasant memories that he tried with all his soul to push back and forget them. He gazed up at the sky and just remembered. No matter how hard he tried to not think about her, his mind kept wandering to the woman who would haunt his being until the end of eternity.

<<Flashback>>

Inuyasha ran, no, he flew. His feet hardly touched the ground he was moving so fast.

"Inuyasha!" yelled a familiar voice from behind him, and then the familiar sound of a gun cracking

"Kikyo," he said under his breath, "I'm sorry." He jumped off the cliff into the sea just as he was hit with the bullet, thick crimson liquid filling the air around his falling form. A small smile reached the falling boy's lips just before he reached the dark water.

<<End of Flashback>>

"Why, why did you do that?" Inuyasha asked the slowly lightening sky, "Why did you betray me, Kikyou?" he whispered as he fell into a light slumber.

"Inuyasha? Inuyasha, are you out here?" called a familiar voice from below him. He looked down to see the young assassin Kagome looking slightly annoyed calling out to no direction in particular.

"What do ya' want wench?" asked Inuyasha through a yawn. Kagome chose to ignore the name he just called her and looked up at him.

"Where have you been? It's almost noon!" scolded Kagome her arms crossed and her toe tapping, her death glare penetrating him from below

"Here, where else would I be? Kaede should have known I would have been here." Inuyasha jumped down from the up most branch and landed gracefully on two feet, his hand touching the ground infront of him to absorb some of the impact. He stood up and looked Kagome in the eye.

"Well," Kagome said thoughtfully looking away from his amber orbs, "Kaede has been asleep all day since she healed me last night. That must have been really tiring, Sango and Miroku didn't know, Sesshomaru I don't think would give a fuck as long as you weren't dead, and I just met you the day before yesterday. So…"

"Save it," Inuyasha muttered waving his hand brushing off her comments already on his way to the house. Kagome sweatdropped, but her surprise soon turned to anger

"Inuyasha!" Kagome said in a tone almost exactly like the woman's from Inuyasha's flashback. The hanyou froze, his heart pounding in his chest.

"D-don't say my name that way," Inuyasha said turning towards Kagome, his voice almost a whisper, and his eyes shaded by his bangs. Kagome's anger suddenly melted away with his words, she let out a small gasp when she saw his face. He tilted his head slightly so that he could look into her eyes

"I-I-I'm so sorry," Kagome stammered out the apology mesmerized by his golden stare. She could see pain and sadness behind his eyes. She had only known him for a short time, but she had a feeling that he hardly ever let his mask slide like this. Something about her voice had triggered a terrible chain. It felt as if he was transferring some of his pain into her and it was terrible. She felt betrayal, physical pain as well as emotional, fear, but worst of all, a sort of tragic love. She felt a silent tear run down her face on it's own. He was the first to break the gaze by hiding his features with his bangs.

"I...I...I just…" He had trouble forming the words. He sighed and turned around. His walk changed to slow to fast, to a jog, to a run, to a all out sprint. He ran, ran from the pain, from the sorrow, from the memories, and from the girl he now slightly feared, Kagome. Kagome reached out to stop him, but he flew off. She lowered her hand and lowered her head. A small sad smile reached her lips; more out of self-disgust than pity.

"Who am I kidding, we're too much alike. And I would never want anyone's pity." Kagome said quietly to herself. She walked off towards the house, the smile never leaving her lips. She wiped the tear away and regained her normal appearance.

When she reached the house, Sango was waiting at the door.

"Kagome, where were you? We were getting worried!" Sango picked up the girl's ora

"Did you find Inuyasha?" She asked hopefully. Kagome looked up from the ground and into her friend's eyes. She gave her the sad smile

"Yes, I did."

"Well, is he coming back? Is he alright?" asked Sango nervously

"Hai, and you know, I think I understand him better now." Kagome said with a slight chuckle with the same feeling as the smile. She looked down again and walked past her. Kagome went to her room to get clean clothing and then went on to the bathe.

Ya ya, it was a short fic, but who cares? The last one was long so you can just live with a short one this time. Sorry if I seem a bit grouchy, I only got 2 hours of sleep last night and I'm kind of tired. I think I'm a little old for sleepovers, but not for anime nights! Please review! I give a special thanks to Hanyou Queen, Foreverchan, SesshomaruFanCall911, and Equida for reviewing! Thanks! ^_^
