Chapter Three: Moving On

 

It was now one month after his death. Everyone's now treating me like a loony bin, push me the wrong way and I'll commit suicide. All I had wanted was to die with the only person that had truly cared for me, or at least I thought he did, until he plunged himself over the bridge. As much as he said he was a filthy half-breed I thought I would NEVER see the day I saw him die.

 

The only thing that kept me going was my promise to Shippo. But even then that only barely registered in my mind when it came to Inuyasha's death. Was this what it felt like to be him? To feel so alone? To be reminded of those who perished because of you by every rock or tree you see? I can't take it anymore. I'm done crying, my own tear ducts run dry.

 

Lately the only place I seem to go are the places he's been. Knowing he was there hurts but at the same time brings me some peace. Sometimes I would even sleep in Goshinboku just to remember the feel of his arms around me, holding me protectively and to some extent, possessively. I could still smell his woodsy scent lingering towards my nose as I fell asleep feeling him put me in his lap for the hundredth time, knowing he wasn't truly there.

 

~Dream~

 

The tall grass billowed around my ankles, my skirt saying in the wind. I was standing alone on the hill over-looking Kaede's village. Looking around I saw everyone paired off; Miroku with Sango, Kouga with Ayame, Shippo with little Souten, even Kikyo had found someone. I then realized that I would be alone for the rest of my life. Everyone was paired off with his or her soul mates while I had no one.

 

“ That's not true Kagome. You'll always have me.” Turning around I saw a man with a strange aura sitting up in the tree. He seemed so familiar yet at the same time not so familiar.

 

“And who might you be?”

 

“The one to mend the Mistaken One's heart. I am the one to make things right again.” That was probably the most vague answer I could have received.

 

“Who is the Mistaken One? Whose heart are you here to mend?”

 

“I think you know the answer to that one Kagome. Take a good look at your life right now and tell me what's missing”

 

“The one I love. The one named Inuyasha. He was the one constant thing in my life and now that constant is no more. Is he the Mistaken? Because if he is, you are sadly too late, Inuyasha has passed on to the realms of the dead.”

“You may think so Kagome, but are you certain he is not with you this very instant? Watching you sleep as he normally does? No. He is not the Mistaken One. In good time the answer to your question will be answered.” He turned to leave but heard a soft “wait” called from the broken hearted girl.

 

“Who are you? How do you know so much about Inuyasha and myself? Are you trying to tell me that Inuyasha is still alive? Where is he?”

 

“So many questions from such a young woman. You may call me Kiyoshi. As for how I know so much about the two of you, you may say I have protected you from time to time, watching to make sure you are safe, you could say I am your Guardian Angel. And yes, Inuyasha is alive but not in the sense that you mean. He is walking around the living realm as one of the un-dead. It seems as if he cannot pass because of some promises he does not want to break, he is un-rested because he left the person he loved for selfish reasons, an unbearable pain if you will. Now I know what your next question will be: How do I know all of this without actually being Inuyasha? That is simple; I came to him soon after he passed and demanded-I mean asked for an explanation. Simple as that.”

 

I stared at Kiyoshi in awe. How he had known all of this slipped my mind, even though he had already told me. Then a thought entered my head as I looked up into the tree. Maybe, just maybe…

 

“Kiyoshi?”

 

“Hai?”

 

“Can I ask you just two more questions?”

 

“OK. Shoot”

 

“How can I not see Inuyasha though you claim he is standing next to me in Sengoku Jidai? If he were there he would have wanted to make his presence known to us.”

 

“He knows you are going to be angry with him when you do finally see him. He wants to see you so badly but can't because you need to get over his death before he comes back to you. Otherwise people will think you have gone over the edge and that would put you deeper into harm's way than you already are by him not being there. He only wishes for your safety Kagome, he does not wish to torture you any further than he has in the past.”

 

“Alright. I guess I could accept that as an answer…next question! Can you come down so I can see you? So that I know who my `Guardian Angel' is?” It sounded as if he was a bit hesitant, but he finally came down. What shocked me was that he looked almost IDENTICAL to Inuyasha's youkai for with the exception of the crescent moon on his forehead and the pointed ears instead of his normal dog-ears. I gave a little gasp and stared straight into his amber orbs.

 

“Alright Kagome. It's time for you to wake up now.”

 

~End Dream~

 

 

“Kagome…wake up wench. We gotta go find the last shard.”

 

 

I sat up in bed with a shocked look on my face. I should have known that voice anywhere. I turned to the right only to come face to face with the one person I feared seeing, yet desired to see at the same time.

 

“Inuyasha…”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A/N

 

 

OOOO was that a cliffy or what?? Next chapter will explain more about Kiyoshi and Inuyasha. NO THEY ARE NOT THE SAME PEOPLE. Kiyoshi is not Inuyasha and Inuyasha is not Kiyoshi. I thought Kiyoshi's name fit in perfectly with this story because his name means purity. He has been sent on a mission to mend the Mistaken One's heart so he/she won't suffer the same way Inuyasha did after losing his Mother and being bullied and beaten. And no, Inuyasha is NOT the Mistaken One (as I mentioned earlier in the chapter) he is the Loved One. The title of the story actually poses three different people intertwined by fate. So you know Inuyasha is one of them…the question is, who are the other two??
