InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Miko's Love ❯ Sesshomaru's Confusion ( Chapter 1 )

Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha. That's the series and the characters. No, really. I don't.
A.N. This is the kind of story that tries to use correct grammar and doesn't have Kagome
portrayed as a sex bunny. Just btw.

Chapter 1

- - Kagome's POV - -

I was walking through the woods after Inuyasha and I's latest fight - he had called me a
wench again and said something about me only being good for finding jewel shards - when I saw
Kikyo's soul catchers.

"What is the point? I'm never better than her," I said to myself. So I sat down, back
against a tree and eyes stinging from the tears that were streaming down my face. I closed my
eyes, then opened them to see Sesshomaru standing in front of me.

"What do you want?" I asked.

"Miko, this Sesshomaru only wants to know why you are not with the half-breed," he
replied.

This, of course, only caused me to break down further. "Why do you care?"

- - Sesshomaru's POV - -

"This Sesshomaru is not saying he cares. This Sesshomaru is saying he does not
understand." I stood there in front of the miko, silently urging her to stop crying. I'm not good
with crying women! Please stop crying miko! Standing there awkwardly, I decided to try and
comfort the weeping woman.

I kneeled down in front of her, and said, "Miko, crying is for the weak. You are a miko,
not some powerless fool."

"Can't you even call me by my name?" she demanded. "My name is Kagome - not Miko,
Kagome. Say it with me Ka-Go-Me."

"Kagome, please stop crying. This Sesshomaru's half-breed brother is not worth your
tears. The hanyou is an idiot - proven by his choice of Kikyo, and not you." Look at me, where
has the powerful demon gone? Every time I'm with her, I try to comfort her! She's just a miko.
She might be a powerful miko, but still she is just a human.

I looked up, searching for some guidance on the new complication of my feelings.
Kikyo's soul catchers were once again wandering the sky above. I sat down next to Kagome on
the mossy floor of the woods. She dropped her head onto my shoulder. She continued crying,
until she fell asleep. I tried to wake her, but to no avail. I can't just leave her there. That
wouldn't be a noble deed worthy of this Sesshomaru. I called Ah-Un to me, placing Kagome
lightly onto his back. "Jaken, stop," I said, halting his whining speech mid-word.

She stayed asleep on the entire way back to my castle. I placed her in a bed in the guest
wing of the mansion. "Jaken, notify me when she wakes." I left the room, leaving to sit in the
garden under the cherry blossom tree.
