Chapter 2

- - Kagome's POV - -

I woke up and looked around. I had no idea where I was. I was lying in an unfamiliar bed
that was very comfy. The last thing I remembered was . . . falling asleep on Sesshomaru's
shoulder. My face heated up at that memory. Sesshomaru had actually been nice to me, he didn't
even glare at me. I got up and started to look around. After a little walking, I discovered that the
room I was in had doors that led to a hallway; a bathroom complete with a huge, full, round tub;
a walk-in closet filled with beautiful kimonos; and a balcony overlooking a small garden with a
cherry blossom tree in the center.

I heard knocking coming from one of the doors. I wonder who it is. I said, loudly, "Come
in." And so, the door opened. I looked over and saw, once again, Sesshomaru. So am I at his
castle? I wonder if Sango and Shippou are worried about me, and if Inuyasha even noticed that
I've left.

"Kagome, there is no need to worry. This Sesshomaru has brought you to his castle - you
are in the guest wing. You fell asleep, and this Sesshomaru did not think you wished to go to
back to the half-breed."

"Well, you were right, Sesshomaru, I don't really want to go back. I've given up on even
the thought of Inuyasha ever choosing me over Kikyo," I replied.

Sesshomaru crossed the room in big strides. He stood near me and asked "You aren't
going to cry again, are you, Miko? This Sesshomaru can't handle crying women." He almost
twitched when admitting that he can't handle everything. I started giggling, then full out
laughing at the expression on his face. "Are you laughing at this Sesshomaru?"

"No," I managed to say over my giggling, "Of course not. Why would anybody laugh at
someone who refers to themselves in third person?" Sesshomaru blushed. The great and noble
Sesshomaru, blushing - just the idea of it set me off laughing again.

"Are you okay?" Sesshomaru asked, grabbing my shoulders in worry. Or, at least, I think
it was in worry. I let myself fall backwards onto the bed behind me. However, Sesshomaru fell
with me, landing on top of me. Our noses touched, both of us freezing immediately. Then his
golden eyes softened. Sesshomaru leaned down, pressing his lips against mine. He is . . . . .
kissing . . . me.

Sesshomaru then closed his eyes and got off of the bed, and started walking towards the
door he had come from. "I have to go now Kagome," He said. After a brief silence, he continued,
"I will have a servant sent to help you prepare for dinner and take you to the dining hall." He left
quickly.

- - Sesshomaru's POV - -

Why did I . . . kiss her? And what is this feeling? And these emotions that are swelling
inside of me? Are they all caused by one human?

- - Kagome's POV - -

I left the bedroom, drifting into the bathroom and stripping off my clothing. I slid into the
steaming water in the tub. As I soaked my body, I recalled the way he kissed. His gentleness, his
concern, the beauty in the way he moved - Sesshomaru. Am I falling for him?

I heard a knock at the door and a woman calling "Lord Sesshomaru sent me to help you
prepare for dinner." I told her to come in, and in walked a tall, thin woman. She had tan skin and
hair that edged on the color of indigo. She introduced herself as Sorabai, a bird yokai whose
family has served Sesshomaru's for generations. She brought into the bathroom with her a dress
for me to wear to dinner. It was a silky gray kimono, white embroidery showing a dragon roaring
across the chest. For the dragon's eye, there was a small gray pearl, and for footwear, a pair of
gray flats.

Sorabai washed my hair and then dried me off, bringing me through a door I hadn't
noticed in the bathroom. It led to a small dressing room with many mirrors. She piled my hair up
into a bun, letting a few small curls escape. She strung a necklace of small gray pearls on my
neck. Then, Sorabai showed me out the door and through the hallway I had seen, stopping at a
set of two big doors. Two men in uniforms stood on either side of the doors.

"This is the dining hall. Go on in, I'll be out here to show you the way back to your
rooms when you are done eating." She gently shoved me into the room as the two servants
opened the doors. I walked in, noticing the crystal chandelier and the mirrors on the walls. I also
noticed the table in the middle of the room. On one end of the table sat Sesshomaru, and on the
other sat an empty chair and a glass.

"Sit, Kagome," Sesshomaru ordered me. I sat down and immediately servants began
pouring out the doors to fill my glass and set a plate of food in front of me. "You may eat."

"Why aren't you eating?" I asked, noticing that there was no food set in front of him.

"I have already eaten," Sesshomaru responded. After I finished my delicious plate full of
food, he asked "Would you like dessert?"

No thank you, but I would like another kiss. "No thank you. So, Sesshomaru, am I going
to stay here?"

"I would . . . like you too, if you so wish."

"I would like that. But, could I visit my friends Sango and Shippou? They are probably
worried because of my disappearance."

Once I agreed to stay, he relaxed some. "We will go tomorrow. You are probably tired;
go get some rest . . . good night, Kagome."

I left through the two doors through which I had entered. Sorabai sat waiting like she had
said she would be. She asked, "Is everything okay?"

"Yeah! I'm going to be staying here for a while apparently, but I'm going to talk to my
friends tomorrow so they know where I am." Sorabai nodded, and then started to walk back to
my rooms. She stayed for a while, helping me change from my gray kimono into a silk
nightgown. I laid down in the bed and fell asleep instantly.
