Chapter 3

- - Sesshomaru's POV - -

I woke Kagome early the next morning and ordered her to dress for travel. Her assigned
servant brought her to where I was waiting - under the cherry blossom tree. Her travel clothes
looked just as beautiful on her as the gray kimono she had worn to dinner yesterday. Her deep
brown eyes were almost completely covered by her eyelids. I formed my demonic power into a
cloud and picked her up so my arms encircled her waist, beginning to move towards her friends.

When we were halfway there, she fell asleep on my shoulder once more. I shifted her so I
was holding her up off the cloud and into my arms. I held her close, breathing in her scent of
vanilla and earth. I found her friends - the demon hunter and the demon fox. I started to wake her
up as I lowered the cloud. She was awake once we reached the earth and jumped off. "They are
this way," I said, pointing. I led the way to her friends.

"Who's there? Is that you Kagome?" asked the demon hunter. Kagome ran over towards
her friend and hugged her around the shoulders.

"Sango! Sorry I disappeared, but I'm done with Inuyasha. Where's Shippou?"

"Here!" came the squeak of the small demon fox as he jumped onto her, almost knocking
her over. I growled slightly, setting both the demon hunter and the demon fox on defense.

"Sesshomaru! Why are you here?" asked the one called Sango angrily and accusingly.

"Sango, calm down, he brought me here. Okay? I fell asleep in the forest after I left the
camp, and he brought me to his castle." Kagome said. "I'm going to stay at his castle for a
while."

"What?" said both of Kagome's friends loudly.

"Well, I'm not going anywhere near Inuyasha anymore, and I kind of like it at his castle."
She glanced shyly over her shoulder at me. I was stunned slightly by her small smile.

"I will protect her. While you are a human and a child demon, I am not only an adult
demon, but also the Lord of the West." I said, almost smugly. Kagome's smile widened.

Kagome's friends accepted that she was leaving and said their good byes. "You'll come
back, right, Mama?" asked the child fox demon. Kagome nodded and directed her smile towards
the small demon she was holding in her arms. He hugged her and said good bye again.

Once we finally got to leaving, Kagome was crying. I held her as we drifted over the
trees on the cloud. This time, I didn't comment on her tears. I dropped the cloud down next to
my cherry blossom tree, and carried her over to it. I sat leaning against it and holding Kagome in
my lap.

I put my hands on the sides of her face and gazed into her eyes. I leaned forward so our
foreheads touched and said, "They will always be there for you to visit." With that, I leaned even
further forward and placed my lips on top of hers. Her lips parted, making way for my tongue.
Her hands came up onto my back pulling me closer. "Kagome, have I told you that you have the
prettiest eyes I've ever seen?" I whispered against her lips.

"No," she gasped.

"Well, then, Kagome, you have the prettiest eyes I've ever seen."

I moved my lips to the hollow behind Kagome's ear, then began to lightly nibble on her
ear lobe. She moaned, but then put her hand on my face to pull my lips back to hers. Kagome's
tongue dove deep into my mouth, and I started to suck on her lower lip. She incessantly drove

me back to where I was before. My tongue, this time, dove into her mouth. I placed my hands on
either side of her face.

Kagome drew back from our kiss and laid her head on to my chest. This is nice . . . but
what are these feelings? Is she the one meant for me as my mate? That would explain why I've
been drawn to her. I'm not sure, but these feelings she brings to me seem . . . right.

Lord Sesshomaru, Lady Kagome, dinner will be served in one hour!" called Kagome's
servant.

"I would like for you to dine with me again tonight." I say softly.

Kagome lifts her head up off my chest and looks into my eyes, saying, "And I
would love to eat with you again, Sesshomaru." Her servant came, rushing her away so she can
dress Kagome for dinner.

- - Kagome's POV - -

Sorabai had chosen a pale pink kimono with flower designs embroidered on it for me
tonight. Apparently Sesshomaru had liked it, as he stared and said, "That color looks good on
you, Kagome." Now, we were eating dessert, which was a terrific cream served with hardened
chocolate spoons. I found myself having to remember to not stare at Sesshomaru's graceful
movements.

Sesshomaru . . . his kisses, his gentleness, just him. I think I'm beginning to fall for him.
We said good night and I left with Sorabai to my room. I laid down in my bed and started to fall
asleep.
