Chapter Twenty Four
Pool Side Shenanigans
Hyuuga Neji covered his eyes from the warm summer sun, squinting slightly as the light passed through the spaces between his fingers. It was hot, much hotter than Konoha. Then again they were surrounded mostly by desert with a few oasis's scattered about, so it really shouldn't come as a suprise.
He was going to die out here. Hyuuga's were not meant for the sun. The last time he had gone swimming, it was with Hinata (granted it was when they were children), and both Byakugan users found themselves sore from sunburn after just a few minutes outside.
Neji wasn't sure whose idea it was to have a relaxing day at the pool. They had been in Sunagakure for going on a couple of weeks, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. As a matter of fact it seemed more of a much needed vacation than a very important mission.
Technically, the pool wasn't a pool. It was an oasis located not too far outside Suna. Personally, Neji had never seen an oasis. It was full of tropical vegetation, lush flowers in which one of Sasuke's students, that flower user girl, seemed excited about. There was a small waterfall, yet it was big enough to ensure a good dive or in Naruto's case, a good cannon ball.
"CANNON BALL!"
SPLASH.
Neji found a tidal wave of water coming right for him, and before he could react, well, it got him. His towel, which was casually thrown over his shoulder, was now soaked, and slopped off his wet skin onto the ground with a juicy FRWOP.
Ino and Sakura were playing volleyball in the water, so far Ino was winning by three points but it was Sakura's serve. As per usual, they wore string bikini's of their trademark color. Ino a rich violet and Sakura a rich red.
Kurenai in her black bikini had long since dozed off. Sasuke, well, he seemed to avoid the water despite Naruto's attempts for his lover to join him. Sasuke, like Neji, had pale skin, henceforth the Uchiha would do well to remain in the shade.
Kakashi, well, Neji pondered how he could manage to strip down to a pair of navy blue swimming shorts yet still have his mask and headband on.
The genin were all splashing around, more specifically Riho was trying to drown Azusa for commenting something about her bathing suit a light baby blue. Shiro watched with great amusement only to have Akina shove him down. Yuki and Aiji had joined Sakura and Ino in playing volleyball, Aiji on Sakura's team, Yuki on Ino's.
"You're going down Forehead girl!"Ino declared, passing the ball to Yuki with a bump.
"In your dreams Ino-pig!"Sakura declared, watching Aiji dive for Yuki's sudden spike of the ball. Sakura bumped it over.
Gaara was there as well, watching the volleyball game progress with a small smile on his face. He rested underneath the shade.
"Oy, Neji! You gonna stand there all day or are you gonna join us?!"Naruto shouted out with a wide grin, as he sucessfully dragged Saskue into the water, creating a heavy splash that landed on Kurenai. She shot awake to see Sasuke spitting out water from his mouth onto Naruto's head. Naruto smiled his fox grin towards Neji. "It's the perfect temperature."
"Dobe, he'll burn like me,"Sasuke grumbled, dunking Naruto underwater. "Here!" Sasuke tossed a small bottle to Neji.
"What's this?"he asked to himself, turning the small white container around. "LUBE?!"
"Oops, sorry, wrong bottle!!"Sasuke ran over, and snatched the tube from Neji's grasp. "I meant to give you my sunscreen. SPF 98."
The white bottle was replaced with another small white bottle. Neji let out a breath of relief, and applied some of it to himself.
"Gaara! Are you coming in?"Naruto shouted out, swimming backwards.
Gaara shook his head, earning a pout from Naruto.
"LOOK OUT BELOW UZUMAKI-SENSEI!"shouted out Riho, who sat atop of Kakashis shoulders, waving to her teacher below.
Kakashi jumped and Riho shouted out in excitement. Naruto then realized, they would land atop of him.
"GAH!"he shouted out, diving underwater, just as Riho and Kakashi splashed an entrance.
"POINT TEAM SAKURA/AIJI!"Kurenai said, as the girls managed to sink a good spike. Kurenai, figuring on being up, decided to referee. Aiji and Sakura hi-fived eachother and gave victory poses.
Ino turned to Yuki. "Get ready, Kid. We'll show 'em."
"Oh yeah?!"Sakura asked cupping her hands around her mouth. "Servitude for a week says you can't!"
"You makin' a bet Forehead-girl?"Ino cracked her knuckles with a grin. Sakura repeated Ino's actions.
"Maybe! Loser of this game becomes the winners slaves for a week,"Sakura stated.
"A lot of talk for a girl two points behind,"Ino replied in a cocky tone.
"Hmph. Oy, Naruto-san, Sasuke-san! Kakashi-sensei and Neji-san! Come join us! Loser is the winners slaves!"Sakura shouted out.
Naruto jumped upwards in his enthuiastic tone. "SWEET!" With a fox grin, he placed himself on Sakura and Aiji's team. Sasuke went over to Ino and Yuki's team. Neji and Kakashi gave eachother heavy sighs before joining teams.
Kakashi went with Sasuke and Neji over to Naruto.
"New game?"Ino opted.
"Yeah, and when we whoop your asses, just remember it's because you suck!"Sakura replied.
Kurenai pulled out a whistle from nowhere. "Alright teams, by the sound of the whistle, volley for the serve. After three hits, whoever manages to land a point, gets the first serve."
"Right!"they all nodded with grins on their faces.
Sakura tossed the ball in the air, and swung with a powerful overhand. It flew past Sasuke, and right into Ino's bump that tossed it in the air. Yuki jumped up and smacked it back over the net, where Naruto fisted it upwards and Aiji spiked it down. Kakashi dove for it managing to get it to the other side however both Sakura and Neji smacked it back over. It was flying for Ino, who hit it back, but it hit the net.
Yuki and Sasuke dove for it, Yuki got it back in the air, but no one could get it from there.
"Serve, Team Sakura,"Kurenai replied.
"Don't worry you guys, we'll get it back,"Ino opted for an enthuiastic approach. "How she can see the ball over that giantic forehead, I'll never know."
"TAKE THIS INO-PIG!"Inner Sakura unleashed an all out assault on the ball. Kakashi managed to smack it right back.
Gaara watched with great amusement, but unknowingly caught the attention of Riho, Azusa, Akina and Shiro who randomly swam around.
The two girls were the first to swim over towards the Kazekage.
He gave them curious glances.
"Ne, Kazekage-sama, aren't you going to swim?"Riho asked, her eyes matching the waters shade.
"No,"he replied.
"Why not?"asked Akina slouching herself down, bringing her lowered ponytail over her shoulder to readjust the band.
"I-I can't swim,"he admitted.
The girls smacked their foreheads. Of course he couldn't swim! He's Gaara of the Desert not Gaara of the Water Olympics.
Akina and Riho gave eachother a glance before turning to face the Kazekage.
"We could teach you,"Riho offered.
"No, that's okay,"Gaara replied with a sweatdrop.
"Ne, Akina, do your thing,"Riho smirked.
"What thing? What's she going to do?"Gaara asked, curiously yet slightly panicked. He's seen the extent of damange the girl could do, being a student of Sasuke and all, he expected no less.
Quickly forming handseals, a strange wind passed around, and sakura petals burst from behind the girl in the white bikini, only to wrap themselves around the redhead.
Hoisting him in the air, Gaara found himself being literally kidnapped. By a GENIN! Of course he could easilly escape, for the girls use of this jutsu wasn't strong, for she had to maintain the last seal in order for the flower petals to maintain themselves.
He found himself over water, and suddenly dropped.
"GAH! I'm DROWNING!"
"Kazekage-sama, the water is waist deep,"Riho pointed out.
Gaara paused. He looked down and stood up.
Akina and Riho giggled.
Gaara lowered himself in the water, blowing bubbles out of his mouth, and slowly moved away.
"Gaara-sama, where are you going?!"Riho asked swiming towards him.
Gaara glared playfully. "Away from you two."
"Why?"they both asked with toothy grins.
"Because you're trying to drown me,"Gaara stated simply.
"No we're not!"Akina protested.
Sasuke smacked the ball downwards towards Sakura who jumped out of the way of it's deadly path.
"YEAH! GO SASUKE!"Ino shouted out.
Splashing the Kazekage, the girls giggled. "C'mon play with us!"
"No,"Gaara replied.
"Please?!"Riho asked.
"No,"Gaara answered.
"Alright then...,"Akina sighed. She turned around and suddenly turned back, eyes watery wide and bottom lip pouting. "Pwetty pweese wit suga on top?!"
Gaara was about to reply no, when Riho tossed a beach ball at his head. The poor object fell to the water with an airy smack sound. Gaara turned to Riho with a deadly look.
"Play with us dammit!"Riho commanded.
Gaara scooped up the ball. "Are you girls familiar with water dodge ball?" An evil grin formed on his face.
"W-water dodge ball?"Riho asked. "Like dodge ball in the water."
"Good. Then you already know what I'm about to do!"
A girly pair of screams were heard, but Naruto was too focused on getting the ball once again.
"Yeah, Naruto!"Sakura cheered.
"Take this Dobe!"Sasuke passed it back.
"Oh yeah, well here you GO!"Naruto replied, making a motion to punch the ball hard. Sasuke prepared himself for his blonds hit, when suddenly, Naruto tapped the ball.
"GET IT!"Ino commanded, suspense getting her.
Sasuke dove for it, but the ball had already hit the water.
"Point, Team Sakura."
"You're not going to win this game, Sasuke-teme,"Naruto gleamed.
Sasuke flashed a grin over towards Naruto. The rivalry had started up again.

"I can't believe it. We lost. To FOREHEAD GIRL!"Ino growled.
Sasuke couldn't believe it either. Aiji had scored the winning point, when Naruto had bumped it in the air. Currently, Naruto was hoisting Aiji in the air, shouted, "WE WON!" Over and over again.
It sucks too, because Sasuke wanted an entire week of bedrest with his Naru-kun.
"Sasuke,"whispered Naruto from behind his black haired lover.
"Hm?"Sasuke stood straight up, making a sound of suprise.
"You're my slave for an entire week. What to do. What to do?"
Sasuke could practically feel Naruto's wicked grin. He felt himself starting to grin too.
"I have an idea,"Naruto began, slowly tracing his hands lower. "It sounds a little crazy, but I just love doing it."
Sasuke gulped. "Yes?"
"How about..."
"Naru-to,"Sasuke breathed.
"We make...."
"Yes?"Sasuke asked. He was so closer to touching...
"RAMEN!"
"WHAT?!"
Sasuke fell comically to the ground.
"Now slave, swim!"Naruto ordered, bouncing back into the water.
