Neon Genesis Evangelion Fan Fiction ❯ World Conflict II: Evangelion ❯ Freedom ( Prologue )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
I'D LIKE TO WARN YOU! This is NOT suitable for children under 13! By reading this, you have acknowledged that you are 13 years or older. I CANNOT be blamed for whatever content you may view that is appropriate for the rating. With that done, this is part TWO in a saga that I am writing! The first IS NOT FINISHED, HOWEVER! Still, I recommend that you read the first part, or there will be many things that you won't understand. I will NOT explain anything that has happened, since it is written in the first part. Anyway, you have been warned about everything. On with the story! *rewinds* Okay, erm.... I don't own NGE until pigs fly. However, I own any and all custom characters(except Shade, that would be RedMageNeko's) within this story. Seeing as how Squad 208 is a squad of real people(Ian McGowen, Dylan McGowen, Robert Suezo, Amber Lyles, and myself (Zachary Duarte)), you can't use them unless you would want to get sued(I don't care if I misspelled it!).

General Mac was a tall man, his short blonde hair spiked slightly in the front, and his golden eyes gave him a strange appearance. His grey-ish brown military uniform was decorated with very impressive ribbons, neatly formed into rows as it was a requirement. He was in his late thirties, and he still looked young enough to be 25. He typed in his response to the computer's question.

<<Password required. Please enter password.>>

Mac did so, and a series of field reports, as well as research projects, opened on the computer's screen. The general clicked on a project marked "Angel". A picture of a 13-year-old boy popped up, along with his profile.

Mac chuckled and supported his head with his palm, his chin sitting in his hand. "Prep Angel specimen for field mission and inform the remaining living members of Squad 208, excluding 2nd Lieutenant Suezo, that they are to accompany him, along with SA Colonel Shade, Private 1st Class Yuko Mishima, Seargent Lucius Marrero(Mah-reh-roh), and Special Class Civilian Avira Rapier," Mac said, taking a sip of his coffee when his wife walked in. "What are you doing?" Maria asked, then looked at the screen, "Sending him on another mission, even after all the trouble he's caused? Take a look at his record, for god's sake!"

<<Deployment of Lieutenant Duarte is not recommended>>

"See? Even the computer agrees with me!" Maria Hyde said, planting a passionate kiss on her husband's lips. It lasted for a few moments before Mac broke it, "Not now, dear. I'm working. And I'm sending him because of the project. We need to collect more data on his abilities and his weaknesses, so that I can get rid of those weaknesses, so that he will become stronger." Maria shook her head, "You know he's going to become even more obssessed with killing you then he already is. The boy's a complete lunatic since his last mission." Mac chuckled, "But the fact is he'll never be able to reach me. He's too worried about that catgirl he's in love with." He looked over the other projects, making arrangements and meetings of all sorts, and his work continued in it's usual pattern.

The long, brown-haired German-Portugese boy sat at the desk inside his cell, reading the book he was studying so he could write Amber a letter in kanji. His mud-brown eyes flicked over each character and each word, then wrote down a few Japanese characters on the piece of paper he had next to it in pencil. Over the year that had passed since he had been captured at the end of his first mission, he was imprisoned for life for all the crimes he had committed. Zack's hair had grown from short to shoulder length, and it stuck out wildly in the pony-tail he had put it in. The silver sword earrings he wore swung back and forth as he turned his head at the sound of a familiar voice. "Yo, Zack! You're still wearing those earrings? They make you look like a faggot, man!" a tall white man said, grinning as he stuck his arms through the metal bars on his cell, leaning on it for support.

"If you want to live a long life, Mark, I suggest you shut the fuck up," a black woman said in the cell on the left to Mark's, coming into the light provided by the hallway. "Why should I listen to you, bitch?" Mark said, glaring at the wall that divided them. "Because either of us can beat your ass any day of the week, that's why!" the black woman said, then smiled to the boy who was in the cell opposite her's, "Right, Zack?" Zack shook his head and yawned, "Sorry, Jess. Too tired to kick his ass. Have fun!" He waved to her while still looking at the book and his letter, looking for any mistakes he might have made. "Jesus, kid! You're always studyin' with those books that catgirl always brings you. She yer girl or somethin'?" a large black man said, getting up from his bed and trying to look around the wall at Zack's cell, which was right of his. "I guess you could call her my girlfriend. She certainly likes to act it," Zack said, sighing as he folded up his letter.

"I thought you were sleeping, Kyle?" a short oriental boy said, looking at Kyle from across the hallway. Kyle yawned, "Well, I was, 'til these two started arguin'," Kyle said, glaring at Jessica and Mark. "Hey, Miroku! What's up?" Zack said, standing up to full height. Even though oriental people are normally short, Zack only stood at 5'4", which was shorter than Miroku, who was 5'8". "I heard that girlfriend of yours talking to a security guard, asking if she could come see you during lunch. So, you get any action from her yet?" Miroku asked, grinning at the short white boy who fell over, a loud clattering coming from the wooden chair. "WHAT KIND OF QUESTION IS THAT, YOU SICK BASTARD!?" Zack said, getting up. Miroku shrugged, "So? Have you? Or are you still a sad, sad virgin?" Everyone laughed at this, while Zack looked thoroughly mortified. "Yeah, sadly, I'm still a virgin. Twenty years old, and you'd think I would have lost it by now. though, I'd really be 15 BECAUSE OF THIS STUPID BODY! I WANT MY OLD ONE BACK!" Zack said, throwing the chair across his cell, and it burst into a pile of splinters as it hit the wall.

"Chill out, little boy. Nothing wrong with being a virgin. Although it is sad," Jessica said, covering her mouth as she tried not to laugh at the last part. "Oh, SHUT UP!" Zack yelled, spreading his angelic wings, one white, the other black, as he stretched. "You need to get some muscle. You're too scrawny," Mark said, still grinning. Zack gave him the finger. Suddenly, catcalls rang out along the cells. "Hey, baby! When can I catch you at the bar?" someone yelled. Either it was a new female prisoner or someone stupid enough to visit the high security section. Some of these were probably child molesters and/or murderers. "Lord help the prisoner they dragged in," Miroku said, sighing heavily as he attempted to see who was coming. The catcalls grew closer, as did a group of people. With them were some familiar looking people. "Hey, Zack, aren't those your ex-teammates? Oooh, and Avira's with them. Meeeoow. Hahahaha-- SHIT! WHAT THE FUCK, MARK!?" Miroku yelled as the food bowl bounced off his head, rubbing the mark it left on his forehead.

The group stopped in front of Zack's cell, and the security guards moved forward. With a swish of a card through a scanner, the laser grid evaporated, and the guards took out all of Zack's restraints, who let them put the devices on without protest. "Hi, honey!" Avira said, hugging Zack tightly. Zack smiled slightly, then the smile grew wider when he saw who was behind her. "Shade, what are you doing here? I doubt the third-in-command should be in here. You're the one who put most of us in these cells." His eyes met a familiar looking brown-haired, brown-eyed womanizer and they locked into his. The image of his older brother flashed through his mind, as did the incident that had felled him. "Hello, Ian. Drinking heavy lately? I heard rumors you have your own unit now," Zack said, smiling a bit. Ian smiled weakly, "Yeah, I do. These are two of them. Lucius and Yuko... ANd what's with those earrings? They make you look like a fag." Zack groaned, "I'll pretend I didn't hear that." Ian put his hands on the shoulders of a boy and girl, who looked to be about 18, and looked like they were about to burst out laughing at any moment. Lucius was a white short-haired redhead, standing at 5'10" with a build on the brink of a jock, and his green eyes held a shine in them that told Zack he had yet to kill anyone. "Avira, could you let go now?" Zack asked of the girl clinging happily to him, who nodded and complied. (For a description of her, check out her bio on my site via my profile. Yes, she has brown hair. Amber couldn't get it any brown-er. Avira is 5'8")

Yuko stood at 5'7", with waist-length raven hair and soothing purple eyes, which also held the shine of the boy next to her. Despite the name, she was not oriental. Maybe half, though. Her body had a shape that reminded Zack of an hourglass. "Great. Fresh meat for the slaughter. I imagine with a leader like you they're definitely worthless," Zack said coldly, which made their eyes sharpen into glares. "You're pickin' the wrong guy to fuck with!" Lucius said, lifting Zack up by the collar of his shirt. A hand in a black glove grabbed Lucius's wrist and bent it in a way that didn't look healthy. Lucius dropped the angel-winged boy onto the floor and glared at the mysterious man who had stopped him.

Shade stood there, looking down on him with a look of indifference. His eyes were much like Zack's wings; they were complete opposites. One of them was a blood-ridden red and the other an icy blue, which looked evil as they were shaded by his raven hair. Neither held any emotion in them, as if he had been drained of his soul. He loomed over the entire group at 6'4", wearing a green poncho over a black T-shirt and black jeans, along with hiking boots. A strange-looking belt wrapped around his pants, on it were two pouches on either side. One held his stealth device, the other his picture of a group of soldiers. On his left shoulder was the Grim Reaper, enclosed within the tattoo-ed circle surrounding it, with "Death is only the beginning" written in a strange language. "I don't reccomend doing that. Our orders are to take him on our mission, and he is NOT someone to be trifled with. Tread carefully with him," Shade said in a cold voice that sent shivers down the boy's spine.

Avira helped Zack up, then clung to his arm again, playfully rubbing her tail up and down his front. He looked clearly humiliated as his cellmates looked on, smirking as if it brang them memories. "Well, I guess this is goodbye, then? Take care of yourself, kid. And don't forget us little people!" Mark said, leaning against the wall and closing his eyes. Zack nodded, then looked around, "Where's Robert and Amber? Aren't they coming?" Shade looked down at him, though he looked distracted while Avira was cuddling the boy like that. "2nd Lt. Suezo won't be coming with us due to his newborn daughter with the general's daughter," Shade said, then paused before speaking again, "We haven't picked up Lt. Col. Lyles yet. We're going to get her once we board the Basroil."

"Basroil? There's more than one ship?" Zack asked. Shade nodded, "The Ragnarok is the size of a planet. It contains many smaller ships within it. We will be living out of the Basroil on our new mission, since most events will take place in one city, although we may have to move once in a while." Zack nodded a bit, then began walking with Avira at his side, which made the guards and the two teenagers nervous. Zack was an infamous murderer and criminal on the Ragnarok, mainly because he had attempted to kill the general's daughter multiple times. However, he had killed many people, and was considered one of the most dangerous people on the ship, on par with Shade. Despite the nervousness, the rest of the group followed him.

"So, how old is the little rascal?" Zack asked, looking over his shoulder at Ian. "Two or three months, tops. I still laugh when I think of the time Amber walked in on them," Ian said, laughing. "Sir, how can you be joking with him!? He's listed as one of the most dangerous criminals on the ship, and you're being friendly with him!?" Lucius said, tossing Zack a dirty look. Ian turned around and gave him an enraged look Zack had only seen once: the time Dylan was killed. "HOLD YOUR TONGUE!" Ian roared, making the boy back away, and made Avira jump, while Zack only grew slightly nervous. "I don't care what you've read about him on those stupid computers! He's no psycho. He's a good friend, and if you don't like it, you can ask to be removed from the roster for the mission!" Ian said, then began walking away. Yuko kissed Lucius on the cheek after a few moments to make him snap out of it, and this led to cuddling of their own.

"Great. Just great. Avira, your loving personality is contagious," Zack said, kissing the 17-year-old walking beside him on the lips. She blushed and stuck out her tongue when the kiss ended, which resulted in Zack grabbing it. "Le' gah o' 'ah 'ongue," she tried to say, and Zack released her tongue. She tapped him on the nose with her tail, "Bad boy. No sex for you." Everyone gawked at her as if she had just taken off her top, while Ian laughed and a grin spread across Shade's face, shaking his head. "Uh... Okay, what do guys normally say to that?" Zack asked, looking to Ian. Ian tried hard to stop laughing, "You're supposed to say 'GOD, NO! PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME SLEEP ON THE COUCH!'" He then burst out laughing, and Zack couldn't help but laugh. "Alright, so shall we go get Ms. Lyles. By the way, I hope you all studied the kanji and japanese books I sent you, because we'll need to speak Japanese in order to complete our objectives," Shade said, and looked at the hangar he had led the group to, pointing to a very large and beautiful looking spaceship, "That is our ship. We'll need to board so that we can get Ms. Lyles."

"HO-LY SHIT!" Zack said, looking up at it, noticing the emblem of a sword and axe crossed together, setting against a yellow background surrounded by a red circle. "Emblem needs work. Anyway, did Robert really get Castilla knocked up back in my adoptive father's castle?" Zack asked, looking at Ian. "Yep. Can't say much about his choice in women, but fuckin' A. You heard about those new mechs the factories are turning out, right? The Armored Cores? We have a lot of parts, so you can build one later," Ian said, walking to the door to get on the Basroil. "There are already personnel on the ship. Try not to kill them," Lucius said, giving Zack a dirty look as he went by, and was shushed by Yuko. "Don't be stupid, Lucius!" she said, pushing him along. Zack glanced at Avira, "Get on. I need to talk to Shade." Avira kissed him on the cheek and ran off, her skirt flying up and down as she ran off, giving off a few good looks at her panties to anyone who was paying enough attention.

"What do you need to talk about?" Shade asked, heading towards the Basroil. "It's about the mission. What realm are we going to?" Zack asked. Shade closed his eyes and sighed, obviously tired, "A city in Japan on an Earth similar to yours is being attacked by these creatures the people call 'Angels'. You're appendages may make the mission complicated, but I won't question the general's orders." Zack nodded in understanding, then laughed, "I just realized this is probably the most you've ever said within 15 minutes. You've broken a record for yourself." Shade grinned, "Don't expect it to continue." The the two men boarded the ship, one of them scratching at his security collar in frustration.

The crew turned their heads and stared at the young boy in every kind of restraint imaginable, then saluted the man they saw beside him. Both saluted, only that one of them scared the daylights out of everyone he saluted back. The two silently made their way to the bridge, which was at the front of the ship. The entire vessel was shaped much like an eagle, only it was half the size of a city. The entire thing was unpainted, besides the emblem and the name, which was in English. Once they reached the bridge, the air-tight doors opened automatically and closed once they were inside. "Begin undocking." Shade said. A series of commands and responses were broadcasted throughout the ship. "Begin the launching sequence," Shade said, and a bright flash flared at the end of the runway.

"What the hell is that!?" Lucius asked, covering his eyes. "Please tell me we aren't going through that," Zack said nervously, "This is going to feel like a rollercoaster isn't it?" Ian laughed, "Probably." Shade ran his hand through his hair, "Launch." The cords that bound the ship suddenly whipped forward, and the ship flew towards the dashing light in front of it. The ship went through and disappeared, the light fading back to nothingness.

"Vincent, are there any diapers left?" Amber asked, trying to untie Naomi's diaper, although the struggling of the baby made it much more difficult. The orphanage was filled with children running around and squealing with joy as they played together. Vincent checked the closet used to store baby supplies and took out a diaper, then walked to the table and put it down for Amber to use. Amber smiled at him and wrapped Naomi's bottom in the fresh diaper, tossing the old one away in disgust. "I need to go wash my hands, so could you feed her?" she asked, walking away. Vincent picked Naomi up and began bouncing her up and down in his arms, sticking his tongue out at her. The little girl giggled and grabbed his tongue.
"Sometimes running an orphanage can be so tiring," Amber sighed, washing her hands. Just as she was finished drying off her hands, the doorbell to the mansion rang.
======================================================================== =============
Ian looked down at the small town below them, which was very familiar to him. It brought back memories of their mission here, and also of the time his brother was still alive. "Well, we going down there or stay here like morons, hoping she flags us down on her magical runway?" Zack's voice said, and ian turned around to face him. Zack walked to the window and looked down on Nibelheim, then raised a brow at a building that was amazingly familiar, but looked like it was in much better condition. "Is that the ShinRa Mansion down there? I guess Amber and Vincent really ARE living together. Can't wait to see their kids," Zack said, laughing. Ian chuckled and walked off, and Zack gave the mansion a final glance before walking away.

The two walked into the dock for the dropship, where everyone was waiting. "Alright, get on. You won't be needing weapons since the dropship has turrets," the pilot said. Everyone boarded, and Avira instantly began clinging to Zack's arm as they sat down. The interior of the dropship was dimly lit, the black-colored seats provided with extra cushioning incase of emergencies. There were two kinds of seatbelts, one for combat, the other for just dropping personnel off. It looked more like a car's saftey belt, but everyone except Avira put it on. The chairs were put against the walls, facing each other.

"Could you please let go of my arm?" Zack asked, raising a brow at Avira. She sighed and let go, "You don't like me, then?" Zack rolled his eyes, "You can drop the act now. It's not like I'm going to chase after every girl I see. That's Ian's job." Ian made a V-for-victory sign and jerked somewhat as the dropship lifted off. As it began to turn, Avira fell out of her seat and onto her head, her underwear completely visible as her skirt flipped upside down. Zack glared at Ian, who was practically drooling, and kicked him in the chest. "Ow! Shit! That hurts! Alright, alright! Jesus!" Ian said, rubbing his chest as Avira got up. Avira blushed and fixed her skirt so that nothing could be seen, then slapped Zack across the face. "Ouch! Why did you hit me!?" Zack said, rubbing his cheek, now sporting a handprint.

"I'm not going to let you see me naked or in my underwear! Atleast not yet," Avira said, blushing and her eyes glazed over as she spaced out in her seat. Zack buckled her in and sighed, "My life sucks.... Wait, did she say NOT YET!?" Ian laughed, "Oooh, Zack might finally get some action!" Lucius shook his head, "I can't believe you are being friendly with him." Ian glared at him, and everything jerked again as the ship landed. Everyone got their seatbelts off and watched as the door unfolded to let them out, and they unloaded in the middle of town. "This place sure has grown in a year," Ian said. "We need to find Amber. I'm willing to bet she's at the mansion with Vincent," Zack said, grinning slightly. "Well, I'm going to buy some food. I'm hungry," Avira said, turning around and walking right into someone, then fell to the ground.

"Sorry! I didn't see.... Cloud!?" Avira said, looking up at the smiling blonde before her. "Hello, Avira. What are you doing here?" Cloud said, helping her up. He looked at the others, then stopped when he saw Zack, who was once again in shackles and whatnot. "Don't ask or I'll be forced to castrate you," Zack said, then noticed all the new houses in the area. The center of the town had grown quite a bit, which was probably the reason why they hadn't hit anything while landing. On the mountain nearby were dozens of windmills, which now took over the previous power source of the Mako reactors. The mountain itself, however, still looked like a barren wasteland with a foreboding presence taking over as he looked at it. The houses themselves looked like they were made of limestone, the wooden frames overlapping at some points. It reminded him of an Old World town.

"What's with the earrings? They make you look like you're gay," Cloud said, raising a brow at the swinging swords clinging to Zack's ears. "I suggest you shut up now, Cloud, or you won't live a very long life!" Zack growled, then his eyes darted towards the young woman walking towards him. "Cloud, leave his earrings alone. I think they look cute," she said. Her waist-length brown hair, auburn eyes, and overly large breasts would let anyone know who she was instantly. Zack blushed slightly, "Thanks, Tifa! I see you still get lots of looks from the guys and IAN QUIT STARING AT HER ASS!" Ian stood up straight and whistled innocently, although he looked extremely nervous. Tifa was wearing a pair of long, tight blue jeans with a black tank top, which showed off her curves nicely (^-^ hehe).

"Figures he's still looking at girls, since he can't get any!" Cloud said, laughing. Tifa hugged Zack, who now felt as if he was going to die from a nosebleed. "What's with all the bondage stuff, though? You and Avira trying stuff out?" Tifa said, then laughed as Zack and Avira went through their bi-daily process of freaking out about suggestions about their relationship. "It's not like that! I got arrested last time we saw each other, remember?" Zack asked, although he wasn't looking at her face but further down. Tifa realized what he was staring at and punched him in the cheek, making him fly back off his feet. "Quit looking down my shirt, you pervert!" she said, glaring down at him. Zack got up and laughed nervously, then received a nice handprint on his face. "You're not supposed to do that with other girls, you jerk!" Avira said, getting ready to slap him again. Ian grabbed her hand and moved between the three. "That's enough punishment. I think he's learned not to do it again. Besides, it's not like you two have gone on any dates so technically.... Shutting up," Ian said as he noticed his friend glaring daggers at him.

"Anyways, we have to go see Amber," Zack said, waving a bit. "Oh, no you don't! You're staying in town for dinner, even if I have to drag you back... which wouldn't be too hard cause of these," Tifa said, pulling Zack forward with the chain on his shackles. Zack stumbled forward and groaned, "Fine! Alright! We'll stay, dammit! Let me go find Amber first," Zack said, walking towards the mansion. "Looking for me? And what's with the earrings? They make you look gay," a familiar voice said. Zack turned around to see Amber gettin water from the water tower, holding a bucket. She was wearing baggy jeans(blue, obviously, as I haven't seen it in any other color) and a long-sleeve yellow shirt. "I'M SICK OF PEOPLE SAYING THAT! And could you pick a worse outfit to wear in summer?" Zack said, looking her up and down. Amber put the bucket down and walked towards him, hugging him as tight as she could. Zack squealed and writhed after a few moments, although the first few were filled with a friendly hugging competition.

"Okay! You win! Leggo!" Zack gasped, falling to the ground as he was released. "Amber, you have to come with us on another mission. And, no, you can't reject the offer!" Ian said, adding the last comment when he saw Amber open her mouth. Amber's index finger stayed in the air for a moment, then fell and her mouth closed. "Fine. BUT YOU'RE COMING TO DINNER WITH US! We're all having dinner, and Vinny-poo's coming!" Amber said, smiling. "Vinny-poo?" Zack and Ian said at the same time, then burst out laughing. "Alright, let's go!" Yuko said cheerfully. "Wait! First, GIRL SHOPPING!" Amber said, dragging Avira and Yuko away before they could object, and Tifa ran off. "I suppose we'll be waiting until tomorrow to leave, then?" Shade said, looking at Cloud. He sighed, "You are NOT staying at my house. It'd be too noisy... forget I said that." Zack sighed, "You always manage to get everything I can't. You remind me too much of my brother. Fuck you, man!"

With that said, the men walked towards the Strife(no more Lockheart, hehe >:D) residence.

Most of you are like, "Where's the Evangelion people!?" Have patience, people. I'm trying to give you an idea of how much has changed since the original, if you bother reading it. NGE probably won't actually appear until maybe Ch 2 or Ch 3. In any case, check out my original and leave a review for it. Note: it isn't as good as this one will be since I've gotten better at writing and there aren't as many plot holes. Also, check out my site via my profile if you must. Still, there is no NGE section yet. Waiting for Amber(yes, this story stars me and my friends) to make new signatures. We're still making the FF7 signatures @_@
