Earning the Sky

I always wanted the sky,

Yearning for it in a way that didn't seem natural

Always wondering if it had something to offer the sunshine and rain,

Is it strange to want something like that?

The Sky was always so beautiful,

So clear,

Why?

Is it because it was a barrier to another place that only someone who was worthy?

Or did you just have to want it?

I gave up everything for the sky, my family,

Career,

Friends.

Does “Dream” mean that it's just something made up?

I've lived all my life in a closed off society,

Always doing the same thing every day,

I choose the path towards the sky,

Wishing to know why it called to me.

Would the sky answer?

Or will it be silent and not want to open its arms to me?

I wondered that every day till…

It answered.

The Sky zoomed into my life in a flash

Pushing itself for me to notice

When I asked why?

Because of love.

The sky loved me and I really did wonder why.

Someone like me that gives up on everything I spent my whole life knowing

Being loved by the sky?

The Sky… said I had earned it.

I wonder if she was right.

I had earned the sky
