I know the storm outside the window
Is hurling all it's fury at the two of us
I know the seas are raging
I know your heart is breaking
What does your heartbeat say this has to do with us?
The lighthouse shining through the window
Means there's nothing but our skin between the two of us
I know the storm's abating
I feel our pulses racing
What do you think our pulses say this means to us?
You're thinking years and years ahead
It fills your heart your soul your brain with dread
Meanwhile I'm just trying to breathe
Trying to keep my head above the waters that have become you and me
Struggling to stay afloat, and keep a lookout for a boat
To pull me in
Living day to day with you is all I have to offer
It's the best I can do
For you
I feel the waves lapping on the shore
I lean into you and whisper, “Tell me more.”
You know me better than anyone has before
You understand me
You get me
I'm just trying to breathe
