Sometimes we write about our families, and how they inspired the current poem.
In this one I have given tribute to those loved ones that supported me in my efforts as a writer, and those that were very close to me and have passed on.

Lonely are the Brave
**Lonely are the Brave**
Dedication: For "Athena, Jonathan, Johnny, Violet, & Bill."
As I look back upon my childhood I see a happier time
In my teenage years all that changed,
then came the misery and the pain.
Father left us, Mothers' health deteriated over time
I got married, then Father befell an accident and died.
In 1979 I bore a daughter, named "Athena"
6 years later, I bore a son, named "Jonathan"
Doc say I had a light stoke and son & I pheumonia,
now "Mother,son and I" all in the hospital in 1986
Mother had several surgeries,but then she passed on too.
Just when we all thought everything was going great
My brother,Johnny was snatched away in his prime.
Johnnys' death was too much a shock for Uncle Bill,
In 2001 Uncle Bill died,then later on Aunt Violet too.
It's said that when ye get older, thats our Golden Years?
Then why does it seem to just get worse, says I?
This year my spouse left me, I know not why
My kids trying their best to provide
Relatives out of touch or just dont care
And all my true friends all over the world are online.
Thus, Alone again and not; yet must be brave to survive
As I lay here and look back upon the good & the bad times,
Waiting for test results,not knowing if I will Live or Die
Death...How do we face it, when it cometh our time?
