These Scars
 
These scars on my body
They burn my soul
They are constant reminders
Of my painful past
 
With every hit I took
I fell a little more
I wallowed in the hate
I was never good enough for anyone else
 
I let the harsh words get to me
And I let the abuse take my heart
I was hurt and beaten
But I won't let them ever again
 
Each day I fell a little farther
Every wound hurt more than the last
No one could ever see my pain
Cause I never let anyone see my past
 
These scars burn
And they will never heal
The ones that you can't see
Are the ones that I still feel
 
Go ahead and ask me
If I'm alright
I'll say I'm fine
But we all know it's a lie
