Partick nodded slowly. "I take that Gabe is the...girl, in the relationship." He wanted to make certain that he was getting his analogy correct.

"Most of the time. He has his moods though," Leia said smirking. "You are very curious." As she looked him over, she noticed that he must have been a heart throb in high school. He really was handsome with his wild locks and deep set eyes.

He shrugged, filing the last of his paperwork. "I like to get to know my students so I can be there if they need me."

Her smirked dropped. "Oh God...I just lost all respect for you." She hopped off the desk. "You are one of those teachers that are too nosy for their own good."

He shook his head slowly. "No, it's nothing like that," he promised while grabbing his coat. "It's just that I don't want to be one of those teachers that sees students as nothing more than pests."

Right. Like she was really going to believe that he didn't have much of a life of his own...if she were him she wouldn't care less about her students. She would be out all the time on dates and having fun. Then again...she couldn't get a date...

He smirked at her obvious disbelief. "You walking or swimming rather?" He looked outside as the rain continued to drown the people who were brave enough to face it.

She groaned. Her phone was dead and she had no ride. "I swear it was sunny out this morning..."

"Yes, well if you had been here on time today you would have heard the warning about flash floods."

"Damn it," she said. She looked out at the parking lot. "Looks like you are stuck here too," she pointed out. His car was stuck in washed up mud and water. "Unless you know someone who lives close and will drive out in this, your best bet is to run home with me and wait it out or we can wait it out here."

He groaned when he realized that he wouldn't be getting home anytime soon. His stomach growled at the thought of the Chinese place closing. "If we stay here we don't have anything to eat," he sighed.

"Then we can make it to my house if we hurry," she said. "Better leave now before it gets worse." She grabbed her things and headed for the door.

Yes, because this was just how he wanted to end his day. Grabbing his briefcase and jacket, he covered himself with them as they hurried outside. He would have to leave his car there until the rain cleared. Even though they had only been outside for a few seconds he was already drenched. He let her take the lead since he'd already forgotten the way to where she lived.

The water was up to Leia's caves. It would take twice as long to get home, but she pushed on without complaint. After nearly forty minutes, they were finally there. Leia closed the door behind him and started stripping. "I'll get you some of Gabe's clothes to put on."

She pushed the button on the answering machine as she stood in her bra and panties. "Leia, we went out for dinner, but got rained in so we are at a friends house for the night. Call me so I know you are ok. And don't eat cereal for dinner. Eat something that is actually a meal."

She groaned and called him back quickly, letting him know she was ok before hanging up the phone. "I'll be back." She disappeared into a back room then came back with clothes for him. "Here. The bathroom is the first door on your left."

He searched around her apartment, trying to keep his eyes on anything save for her. Why was she so comfortable in just her bra and panties? "Yes, thank you," he said, taking the clothes from her. "Though perhaps you should get dressed first. I don't think you want to go around in just your underwear...."

"I have a bedroom. You can use the bathroom," she said. Shaking her head she was sure that was a stupid thing for him to say. Of course she would change...in her room. She headed to her room and closed the door.

He just nodded slowly. Going to the bathroom, he smirked. It was hard to tell that any males lived here. Stripping into nothing, he shifted through the clothes grabbing the boxers, he slid them on and then the rest of the attire. It was a rather snug fit, but it looked well enough. A little feminine for his tastes, but still good.

Once his wet clothes were hanging from the shower, he ran his hands through his hair before going out to see what he could do. Hopefully the rain would let up soon and he could go home.

Leia came out seconds after him wearing so night shorts and a tank top. She ran a brush through her hair then pointed to the couch. "Have a seat. Make yourself at home. I'll make us something to eat." She went to the fridge and saw that Rio left her something to cook. Stir fry. Her favorite. She pulled it out and began cooking it.

"Thank you. Is...I mean, is there anything that I can do to help?" He didn't just want to sit in some strange place while one of his students cooked him dinner.

"No, not really," she said as she cooked. She threw some spices in the pan and watched it simmer. "This shouldn't take long. If you want there is a liquor cabinet to your left. Help yourself. It could help you warm up."

He smirked at that. "Just because I'm Irish doesn't mean I drink." Of course while he said that he slowly made his way over to it to see what they had. "Though I am curious how a bunch of kids have a liquor cabinet."

"My father likes me to have the finest of things even though I don't want them. He sends the most expensive alcohol and the oldest wines for stupid holidays like President's day or something. It's his way of saying 'we are rich, bask in it.'" She rolled her eyes. "Well, Rio and Gabe like the stuff so they drink it once in a while. If you see something you like, take it home. It won't be missed."

He chuckled as he pulled out a bottle of scotch. "One of these bottles costs more than I make in a year."

She pulled out two plates and filled them up with food. She sat them on the table then handed him a glass. "Enjoy," she said and sat down.

He smiled. It smelled delicious. "This looks a lot better than any of the fast food places I've been frequenting," he laughed. "Thank you."

She nodded. "Would have been better if Rio made it. He's mother is a master chief."

"It's still far better than anything I could have prepared," he assured her.

She nodded. They were quiet for awhile, eating in silence and listening to the storm that wasn't letting up. She glanced at him. How did she end up inviting him into her home? How did he end up accepting. He was so much older than her and she should feel like a child in front of him, but she didn't. In fact, she was physically attracted to him. Not that she would act on it...he was just really hot.

"So, you have no problem living with two guys?" It was a random question to ask, but he couldn't imagine why a girl would want to live with two guys on her own free will.

"I grew up with Gabe. We were engaged before he found out he was gay. After his parents kicked him out, I offered him a place to stay, but he decided not to leave. Next thing I know, Rio showed up." She shrugged. "I don't mind it. Rio helps our where Gabe doesn't and Gabe takes care of me when I need it. They are the only friends I have really."

"They don't sound like friends. They sound like family."

"They are what they are," she stated. "They get me and I don't have to worry too much when they're around. Don't tell Rio, though. He thinks I don't like him and I like to see him sweat a bit."

"So let's see, you're smug, vindictive, malicious, and a little bit of a bitch." He smirked as he took another bite of his food. "So you're an average teenage female."

"Sure if that's what you call normal," she said and finished her meal.

"Nothing is normal," he smirked. Setting his fork down, he took a sip of the scotch and sighed. That was good. Taking another sip, he shuddered. Very good.
She took their empty plates and put them in the sink. "If you like the scotch, you should take it home," she said. She moved to the couch and sat down. Turning on the news she sighed. Schools were closing and stores were doing the same. The flash flood was taking over and wasn't suppose to let up until Sunday. "You might be stuck here for the weekend..."

"Huh? Why's that?" He stopped when he heard the news bulletin. A soft groan escaped his lips as he plopped down on the couch beside her. "Well, that's lovely. My car is probably floating down main street by now."

"Sorry about that..." she said as she watched the screen.

"It's not your fault," he said. Getting up, he figured that he could use another drink. "Will your friends be alright, wherever they're staying?"

"Should be. As long as they are together, they are fine," she assured him. Suddenly, the power went out. "Well...this sucks..." She got up and started lighting candles.

"Two days and no electricity. This is going to be fun." He got up and began helping her with the candles. Without television there really was nothing else to do but to sit down and let the silence consume them. The awkward silence.... He tried to think of something to talk about, but whenever his mind began to wander it drifted to the images of her in her underwear. Really, he didn't need that. She was a child! It was so wrong. "Hopefully the electricity won't be out too long or it's going to be freezing in her by nightfall."

She went over to the fireplace and lit it. "It won't be too bad. We have a fire and can camp here in the living room for warmth. Rio keeps the wood stocked up so we should have plenty."

An apartment with a fireplace? Will wonders never cease. "Well then, it seems that we'll be roughing it," he smirked.

"Not really. My dad got me to top floor and fixed it up. He put the fireplace in and I have a battery powered camping stove so we should be good if we don't open the fridge too much," she said.

"That...was a joke," he explained. Kids today.... "Seeing as how the television is off, do you have any books?"

She pointed to the large shelf. "Obviously."

Making his way over to the book shelf, he selected the first title and began flipping through it. Sitting back down on the couch, his hair fell over his eyes as he fell into the silence of reading. Two days trapped with an adolescent girl.... If it got too bad he could always swim.

Leia looked over at him. She had already read all the books so instead she went to her room with a candle and pulled out a drawing pad.

While she was in her room he read and drank. Eventually he relaxed and laid out on the couch, his eyes growing heavy both from general exhaustion and from the scotch. Yawning, he set the book down on his chest. He was already halfway through. It was a fairly compelling story.

Leia yawned and put her pad down. She went to the hall closet and pulled out some blankets and an air bed. Going back to the living room, she pushed at button and the air bed blew up. She put the blankets on it then some pillows. "There you go," she said. "Need anything?"

His only reply was the steady rise and fall of his chest. Sleep had already taken over, and he was the middle of a dream.

She threw a pillow at him. "I so did not get my ass up and fix this for you so you could sleep on the damn couch," she snapped. "Use the fucking bed!"

He groaned as the pillow hit him. "The couch was perfectly fine," he yawned. In all honesty he could have just used Gabe's bed if she wanted him to sleep on a bed so badly. "But thank you." He got up, stretching slowly as he did so.

"Yeah, whatever," she said and started to her room.

"Goodnight. Sleep tight," he said. Taking off his shirt, he laid down on the air mattress, pulling the blankets over him as he started to drift back to sleep.

She ignored him and shut her door. Crawling in her bed she shivered a bit and closed her eyes for sleep.

Despite the chill in the air and being in an unknown environment, sleep came easy to him. Due in part to the alcohol as well as to the fact that he slept like a rock. Curled up on the air mattress, he fell into a dreamless state of sleep, one that he wished would last for quite some time.

On the other hand, it took Leia hours to fall asleep. Mainly because it was odd being in the house without Gabe or Rio just down the hall. It made her a little uncomfortable.

Though today was a day off for him, his body didn't know that. He woke up at his usual time, groaning as he tried to go back to sleep. He shuddered at how cold it was in the house. Getting up, he held his head as he looked around. This wasn't his apartment....

Then everything came to him. Right. He was staying at a student's place. Wonderful. He checked the power, which was of course still off and it was still pouring outside which meant that they didn't have anything to do today but wait.

Leia got up, wrapped in blankets and looking like death itself. Morning was so not her thing. She went to the living room and threw some logs in the dead fire. She re-lit it and sat in front of it for warmth while she shivered.

"Do you have a coat or anything to put on? You look like you're frozen stiff." Of course he was saying that while wearing only jeans, not bothering with his shirt. He felt cold, but he just hadn't bothered to put it on yet.

"Until I have coffee...don't talk to me," she said. By now, Rio would be bringing her coffee while Gabe went on and on about his dreams. Yes, it was an odd morning.

Now she was speaking his language. Of course without electricity that was going to be very hard to do. "I'm afraid we're both going to have to survive without coffee today."

"Then no talky."

"If that's what you want." He smirked. She looked so pathetic and dead right now. She was kind of cute. Grabbing his book from last night, he plopped back down on the bed and started reading once again. She didn't feel like talking, he was fine with that.

After a few seconds, she tipped over and laid on the floor next to the fire. No coffee. No Rio or Gabe. Today already sucked.

He eyed her from his seat. "If you don't put on some more clothes you're going to get sick."

"I don't need you telling me what to do," she said as the fire warmed her. "I miss my coffee..." she pouted.

"You're too young to be drinking coffee anyways," he said. Still.... Walking over to the liquor cabinet, he pulled out the bottle of scotch. Pouring her half a glass he offered it to her. "It will warm you up and wake you up."

She pushed it away. "I don't drink."

"Smart girl, but unless you want to be all pitiful and groggy all day I would suggest you do something."

"You are the guest in my house. Either be quiet or I break that bottle on your head. Your choice," she said and yawned.

"Yes ma'am." What an odd thing to say. Taking the glass, he downed its contents and put it in the sink. No use letting it go to waste.

Obviously he liked to drink. She went to the pantry and got out some cereal and started eating it from the box.

He watched as she started to eat the cereal. "At lea-" He stopped and held up his hands in mock defense as she glared at him. "Okay. Do what you want. It's your house."

"Yes, it is my house," she said and shoved a handful of cereal in her mouth.

He just shook his head as he sat back down on the couch. A loud crash of thunder landed nearby. It seemed that the worst part of the storm was still to come. Grabbing his book, he flipped through the pages, only half bothering to read as the skies darkened outside.

Leia jumped, cereal flew everywhere. "Damn it!" Dropping the covers, she grabbed the broom and started to sweep it up. With the house so cold, her chest was rather perky.
