"That's good to know. I would feel rather foolish if I was the only to wind up lost in this behemoth."

Leia walked to one of the intercoms. "Prepare dinner...something Mr. McClain will like." Someone said 'yes ma'ma' and she turned to him. "I did some research on you...found out your favorite things and gave them to the cook."

"You did research on me?" He looked at her curiously. "You could have simply asked...."

"This saved time. Is there anything you would like to do before dinner?"

He sighed. "Yes. I'd like to at least know where your room is."

She walked down the hall and to the master bed room. Opening the double doors she revealed a large room with a large canopy bed. "This is my room. You are more than welcomed to share my bed at any time."

Despite the fact that he was slightly miffed, her offer did make him smile. "I will probably be taking you up on that offer for quite some time."

"The only reason I gave you a room was so you could have you own space. And if doesn't even have to be that room. This house is your house. Pick any room, use anything. This house is something I paid for so it's all mine...and now yours." She kissed his cheek. "And don't worry...I plan on keeping you around of a little bit of forever."

He smirked, his anger completely forgotten. Wrapping his arms around her he chose to deepen that kiss. "Well, you just better hope that I plan on letting you keep me."

"Oh, don't you know?" She smirked big and pulled his tie for him to follow her. "I own you now."

His eyes widened as he was suddenly pulled along by this little girl. Reaching down, he grabbed her, lifting her into his arms. "You don't owe me," he teased, sticking his tongue out at her.

"I love it when you man handle me," she whispered sweetly.

"You can't say things like that," he smirked. "It makes me want to do naughty and terrible things to you."

"In this house, nothing is terrible when it comes to the naughty things."

He nuzzled her neck, sucking on her flesh sweetly. "I'll remember that," he whispered, already planning things for tonight. Staring into her eyes, he let his lips curve. "Tell me you own me."

"I-“ She was about to finish when the door bell rang. Pushing from him, she rushed down stairs. Opening the door she noticed the local blacksmith. "Oh wonderful! You've come. Out back is the area I want the metal gate for. Were you able to do the design I asked? The one my mother once had?"

Patrick paused as she left, disappointed that she hadn't said what he wanted. He felt his heart stop as he heard a familiar voice.

"Of course lass! I do only the best work," he told her.

"I'm so happy. I'll show you where I want it. Mr. McClain, want to come see the garden? It's covered in the winter chill, but it's very lovely none the less," she said to Patrick.

"Uh, not right now. Perhaps later," he said, making sure to stay out of sight and cover up his accent as best as possible.

She turned back to the blacksmith.
"Please come in," she said and let him in. The maid gave him some coffee. "It's easier if we walk through the house to the back then around. It's such a large place. Mr. McClain, come say hello. I'm known this man since I first bought the place. He's done the whole fence himself and I've finally been able to get him to make this perfect gate for the garden."

Patrick groaned as the blacksmith stopped and stared at him.

"Patty my boy? I didn't realize that ye knew little Leia."

"Yes, Samuel. She use to be a student of mine back in the states," he sighed.

"I'm not so little anymore," she smirked. "Mr. McClain...you lived in this part of Ireland?"

Patrick nodded. Might as well drop the act now. "Aye. I've done a lot of traveling over the past month, but I use to live not too far from this area."

"Hmm small world." She turned back to Samuel. "Mr. McClain is staying with me now. He's looking for a job and so am I. Got anything for little old me and big strong him?"

"Of course he can always have his job helping me with my black smithing. If you don't mind me asking, but what on earth would someone like you need a job for?"

"I promised him I would get one," she said. "He doesn't want to live off my money and I don't want him to feel like he has to work for it so it's good for both of us....then again...what do you know about the boarding school's here? Maybe I'll go back to school."

"My daughter is in a boarding school. Patty here was helping her with her classes while staying with us. The boarding schools are all rather nice, and give a good education."

Leia snapped her head to Patrick.
"You didn't tell me you worked for him...or lived with him and his daughter...she's my age." She tried not to look hurt it wasn't like her. "Yes, I think I'll go back. I'm sure your daughter will help me fit right in. Shall I show you the back now?"

"Yes, of course!" He smiled happily, going along with her leaving Patrick standing there inside.

Leia showed him where she wanted the gate then sent some of her workers to help him put it in.
"Why don't you bring your daughter over tonight and have dinner with us? It will be nice to have someone share my first meal here without my mother."

"I'd love to lass, but the wife's not doing all that well. After this I've got to go home and help her with her medicine."

"Were you able to get those herbs I recommended?" Patrick finally came out to help them.

"Yes. They're working wonders for her."

"If you don't have the means for a doctor. Please allow me to get you one. Helena has always been so kind to me and I want her strong and well."

"Oh, it is not that," he laughed. "She just doesn't like doctors. She wants the herbal teas and other stuff." He sighed, shaking his head slowly. "I'm afraid that her stubbornness will be the death of her."

"As long as she takes those herbs I recommended she should be fine."

"Let us hope. Well, send my regards and have a safe trip home."

"Of course lass," he smiled. He finished with the gate, taking one final look at it he nodded. "Everything is ready. Ye should be good to go."

"It looks," her heart warmed at the sight of her mother’s own design on it. She ran her fingers over the crest. "perfect." She was almost in a daze at how much it reminded her of her mother.

"I'm glad I was able to remake it for you." He kissed her on the cheek, waving to them as he started out back to his car.

"Thank you again!" she called to him. She opened and closed the gate with a smile. Once she was satisfied, she turned and started back inside.

"So...you know Samuel and his family?"

She nodded. "My mother and Helena went to the same boarding schools together. She was the reason why I spent so much time here. I bought this house when I was nine and we spent our time here just so mother could see Helena. Samuel always tried to treat me like a daughter since my father wasn't around."

"Samuel is a good man and Helena is a good woman." He stopped her to look at her. "Were you really that upset that I stayed with them and their daughter?"

"We both know how very beautiful Lilith is. She got beautiful fair skin and fire red curls with deep blue eyes. She's a heart throb. I spent half a year of school with her in the ninth grade and the girl had men drooling over her." She turned to him as she stopped on the stairs. "She is very breathtaking."

"And you think that simply because I drool over one school girl that I would drool over them all?"

"Grown men can't resist something that beautiful. Even if I wasn't in the picture, it wouldn't change the fact that she is appealing."

"Yes, she is rather appealing. However, when I have seen someone as exquisite as yourself naked and in front of me, anything else just seems to pale in comparison.,"

She pushed her hair behind her ear as she stood a few steps above him, allowing her to look down at him like he usually did with her. "I'm very average compared to someone like her."

"Not to me you're not," he said, looking up at her and into her eyes.

"Can you look me in the eyes and honestly say that looking at her doesn't make you hard?"

He rolled his eyes. "Yes. I can."

She crossed her arms. "That's a lie because even Gabe got hard when he first met her." Not to mention that she gets a little turned on at the sight of her.

He watched as she shifted.
"Are you attracted to her?"

Leia turned her back to him. "You are impossible!" she snapped and started up the stairs again.

He hurried up after her, taking her arm and turning her to him.
"Yes. I do get hard at the sight of her, just as you get wet."

She pulled from him. "You are horrible!"

"You wanted the truth. I am telling you, and judging by the blush on your face you know I'm telling the truth."

"But you lied to me before!" she snapped. "And I don't get wet at the sight of her! Just hot! And it's not all the time! Only during the summer when we are both swimming! I'm not gay!"

He paused as she screamed that. "I know you're not gay. She is an attractive girl, it's an understandable reaction."

"My skin get's hot and that's it. You get fully turned on. And you spent all that time with her..." She wasn't the type to be so jealous. "This...sucks so much." A bell rang and she started down the stairs. "Dinner is ready. Come on, I'll show you where we eat."

He stopped and looked at her. "Yes. I do get turned on. However, I would never touch her. Not like I touch you. She is a friend of the family, that is all."

"Forget it," she said. He never got hard by just looking at her. She would know...she always watches him. She made her way to the dining room and sat down at the head. Dinner was large and smelt amazing.

Patrick smiled at all the food. They had all his favorite meals.
"Next time, please talk to me if you want to know what I like. I would like some time to simply talk rather than just being...intimate."

When was the last time they really talked? When she was pregnant? They talked all the time then. Maybe that was why he never let her know he was in Ireland all that time... Lilith was a talker...she probably kept him entertained. Lilith was so free and sweet. What was she? Stubborn and closed off. How could Patrick love someone like that?

He ate in relative silence. His thoughts were troubled. Day one and already they were having doubts. He could tell that by the way she looked at him and by the way she didn't eat.

After dinner, Leia grabbed Patrick's hand. She pulled him upstairs and to the back of the house. They were so deep in the house she was sure that if he tried to find his way back, he would get lost. Finally she stopped outside a door.
"I realize I'm very closed off...I don't share my thought or feelings with you. I want you to understand why. My mother was everything to me. Though we didn't live together, she made me so happy. I use to be so free and so open. People read me like a book. When she died...I felt like a part of me was dead too. No one wanted me. All I had was Gabe. My father started selling off my mother's things then...out of nowhere, he tore down the first home we ever had as a family together. Gabe doesn't know, but I went back to it after it was in pieces." She opened the door and inside were broken pottery, sea shells, little knick knacks of things that were broken. There were stuffed animals that were torn and sewn back together. "I got whatever I could and brought it here because this is one of the only places my father can never touch. This...is all I have left of her and of us as a family."

"I know that I can never truly relate or know what it is like to not have a family, but I do know what it is like to lose someone very dear to you. That aching feeling of numbness, sorrow, and an aching void which can never be filled." He couldn't believe that she was actually trying to open up to him. It wasn't like her, but he did like that she was at least trying.

"I can't give you much other than money and sex...but if you give me time...I'll give you all of me. And one day I'm sure I'll be able to say those words out loud," she said softly. Hesitatingly, she hugged him. "I'm...scared to lose you too, Mr. McClain..."

His features softened as she hugged him. That was new.... His arms wrapped around her, nuzzling her neck. "I'm glad."

She hugged him tighter, afraid to be vulnerable, but even more afraid of driving him away. "I will do my best to answer anything you ask of me for now on. And I'll try not to hide my emotions."

"I would like that very much."

She nodded. She would keep that promise.

He kissed her forehead, trying to make things easier for her.
"Is there anything that you would like to ask me?" He would start first. To show her how easy it was.

"First...out of this room," she whispered and pulled him out. They started back the way they came. "I know nothing of your past. I wish to know you better."

He nodded. Once they were out in the hall, he took her hand. "I grew up here in Ireland with my brothers and sister. My father was your typical Irish drunk, but he was a good man for the most part. My mother was and still is tough as nails. She was swift to punish and swift to forgive. I lived in a small house with two rooms until we finally immigrated to America."

"Have you ever loved before?"

"I have."

She nodded. "Will you tell me about it? How many times? What were the names? What happened?"

He had a sad smile on his face. He nodded to the first room they came to. Opening the door, he sat down on the couch with her. "Only once. I was fifteen and a trouble maker. She was the daughter of a banker. Not a care in the world." Closing his eyes, the memories came flooding back to him. "At least, that was what I thought when I first met her. My father worked for her father. Being the youngest, I got dragged around when he worked so we often hung out. I was sixteen when I asked her out. I was so nervous that she had to ask me to repeat my question four times because I kept stuttering."

Leia smiled. He was so confident now. She remembered when he asked her out in the school hallway as if he did it all the time. She found that she liked stories of him when he was her age.

"It was young love. We went to ice cream parlors, drive in movies." He smiled at that. "You have no idea how hard it was trying to go to a drive in movie on a bicycle." There was another pause as he sighed. "We were in love. At least, we thought we were. Back then I got into trouble a lot. Skipping school. Getting into fights. I was once put into prison over night for breaking into a convenience store. She loved the whole bad boy image." He relaxed, though it was obvious the worst was still to come.

Leia moved to him and got to the floor. She laid her head into his lap, feeling much like a child during story time. Yes...talking with him was nice...though hearing of another love made her heart tickle.

His hands automatically started to caress her hair.
"The first time we tried to be intimate ended very badly. Not at all because I had no idea what I was doing. There were so many holes, I didn't know what went in which. However, as soon as I touched her like that she freaked out and started yelling. She claimed I was trying to rape her." He took off his glasses, shaking his head slowly. "We had our spats, and after that night she started acting out. Skipping classes. Getting into trouble. She was starting to act like me...or like how you acted when I first met you.... If only I had realized then what was wrong."

When he first met her? She still acted out even now...she quit school and she was sure it would be hard not to skip in her new school. She closed her eyes and listened to him, not wanting to ruin the moment.

"Finally one day she pulled me into an alleyway after class. We got...intimate, but she was so different from what I remember. Like I said, I wish I had realized then.... After our encounter, we got back together. She seemed to be doing better with me.... But then I found out she was sleeping with other guys. I was about to be seventeen.... I got angry, ran off, and used a fake license to join the military...."

Her eyes snapped open. He joined the military!?! Her Patrick? Of course she didn't read that in the report she dug up on him. She only wanted to know the important things...like what food he ate. She felt stupid.

"I went through boot camp...took the test and was going through follow up to be a Navy Seal." He frowned, the memories taking a darker turn. "I was about to graduate. To get my insignia. It was then that I heard from Rachel that Chrissy was in the hospital. She had tried to kill herself. I reported my fraud to the government and was dishonorably discharged due to my deception."

Leia shifted on the floor. Her hands fisted on his pants. She had seen many bad things in her life, but one thing she could never understand was taking your own life. The world sucked sometimes...but it's a challenge so it's meant to be hard. If it was...then what would be the point?
