The next morning had Patrick waking up with a weight on his chest. Looking down he saw Leia snuggled against him, all but laying on top of him. He smiled at the sight of her sleeping so peacefully. His hands graced her cheek, tucking a stray stand of hair behind her ear.
Leia stirred and looked up at him. With a yawn, she looked at the clock then groaned. She sat up and slowly got out of bed to get ready for school. "You know...you haven't used your driver..."
"I have a driver?" He rolled over, watching her bustle about to get ready.
"Well yes, you didn't think I would let you walk in the cold all the time? I just assumed you knew when I left in the morning with my driver. All you have to do it tell the maids you are ready to leave and your driver will pull around for you." She opened her closet and pulled out a box then tossed it too him. "Forgot to give this to you. It's a new cell. It has all the numbers you need in there for emergencies plus mine and the drivers. Never go anywhere without it. Mine has saved my life countless times."
He looked at the cell phone in adoration. "Thank you. I will keep it always." He yawned, finally managing to work himself out of bed. His muscles were starting to get sore from all the work, but it was actually really fun so he didn't mind. Giving her a hug, he kissed her neck where his mark was. "Tell your teacher I said hi." With that, he started back down to his room.
Leia smiled as he left and only a few minutes later, she grabbed a pop tart and was out the door. When she got to school, she put her beret with its little feather. Today was test day and another day of detention. This week would prove to be a pain for her.
That whole week, Leia was surprised that her highlight of each day was detention. The time she spent with Mr. Daniels was more fun than she thought. He brought them both dinner each night since they both had to stay so late. Of course, it meant she didn't have dinner with Patrick, but he never voiced that he was upset about it. Leia found herself laughing at all of Mr. Daniels's jokes and beating him at the many games they played. Detention wasn't really detention. As long as she spent three hours with a teacher, it didn't really matter what she did. On Friday, Mr. Daniels told her they wouldn't be staying at the school. He had to do some running around so she had to tag along.
After grocery shopping and going to the post office, they stopped at his house to drop off the groceries. Leia smiled at how small and cozy his place was. It reminded her of Patrick's old house. However, when she walked in, it was spotless. She carried the groceries behind him to the kitchen then put them down next to where he set the others. Her eyes wandered around the room, taking in everything.
"This place suits you. It's exactly how I thought your house would look."
"Do you always think about teachers' houses?" he smirked as he started to put things away.
"Something like that...I have a history of ending up at the teacher's house," she said as she walked through his dining room looking at the pictures and things.
"You must have got a lot of detention in America too."
She smirked. "Sure, we can go with that."
Her eyes traveled over everything then suddenly stopped. In the corner of the room was a glass case with vases. Slowly, she walked over to it and opened it. Reach out she took hold of one. He rushed to her nervously.
"Please be careful. These are my most praised possessions," he said as she looked it over. Leia turned the vase upside down and her heart picked up. "The person that made these came to visit during the summers a long time ago when I was about your age. She sold them just because-"
"She loved doing them," Leia said.
"Yes..." He looked at her. "How did you know?"
"These are my mother's vases...." she said slowly. "And you have a large collection...none of them are broken or cracked. I searched for years to find someone that had one that was still in perfect condition..."
He placed a hand on her shoulder. "I loved her vases so much...I bought them whenever I could...I didn't know she was your mother. I really didn't put the pieces together even though you both have the same last name."
"All I have of her is broken pieces and a room of old things that are too fragile to touch," she said softly as her fingers ran over the details of the vase. "It's so beautiful." Her eyes welled with water.
"Leia...please take it," he said over her shoulder.
She turned to him. "You...don't mind?"
He shook his head. His hand went to her cheek to wipe a stay tear. "You should have something of her that isn't broken. I'm glad I could help."
Hesitantly, she leaned in and pressed herself to him in a hug. He was taken back, but didn't pull away. "Thank you so very much."
"Easy lad. If ye keep it up like that then you're going to end up breaking the metal."
"Metal doesn't break. It simply bends," Patrick muttered. The hammer fell to the ground as he slumped into a nearby chair.
"What is wrong with ye lass? You look like a lost puppy."
Patrick's lips curved lightly as he leaned his head back and closed his eyes. "Sure. We can go with that."
Hands rested on his shoulders. They began to rub and soothe his tired frame. "You should take a rest," Lilith offered. "I can help you take your mind off of things."
Leia cradled the vase in her hands protectively as Mr. Daniels drove. "Where are we going?"
"To the local blacksmith's house. He did some work for me a few days ago and I owe him. He said I could pay him on pay day and today is pay day."
"Samuel is a good man," she said as they pulled up.
"You know him?"
"My mother and his wife were good friends."
He smiled. "This is a very small town...for all we know, we could have seen each other when we were younger and didn't even know it."
Leia laughed. "It's possible."
He got out and opened her door. "After this, I'll take you home."
"Yeah, I'm sure Mr. McClain is waiting for me there."
"You call your boyfriend Mr.?" he asked as he helped her out.
She thought a moment then shrugged. "I always have. It's just something that's stuck with me I suppose."
He nodded. "He must really care about you. He's always leaving marks on your neck," he said as his fingers went to her collar bone to the small mark Patrick had left her with from the night before.
"Oh," she said as she watched his eyes while his fingers danced on her collar bone. "Yes, he does."
"That enough ye two. It seems we have a customer." Samuel disappeared, leaving Lilith and Patrick alone.
"Well, until next time," Lilith said with a smile, leaning down and kissing Patrick's lips before darting off to her room.
Patrick licked his tingling lips. Grabbing his shirt, he pulled it on as well as the metal workers apron. It was thick enough to hide certain parts that were excited.
Leia quickly pulled from Mr. Daniels. "Maybe...you shouldn't-" She stopped when she saw Samuel. "Oh, hello," she said walking over to him with her vase. "Look...Mr. Daniels actually had one of my mother’s original vases. He was kind enough to let me have this one."
Mr. Daniels smiled. "Well, it's nice to see you happy." He handed Samuel some money. "Thank you for the work and for waiting for the money."
"Aye, ye know that I don't mind," Samuel laughed. He pulled Leia into a hug, being careful with the vase. "That is a treasure in a half right there."
"Yes, that it is," Patrick said. He had a large box thrown over his shoulder so that he could carry it through the house. The contents inside were safely wrapped to keep it from being jostled about. "I assume that this is for you." He was careful as he swung the large box around and let it rest before him. His eyes stayed on the box and this man whom he could only assume was the Mr. Daniels he was hearing so much about.
"I see you have finally gotten some help, Samuel. It's nice to meet you. I'm Vince Danels," Mr. Daniels said with a smile. "Leia, you should get back into the car. It's getting a little too cold out here and I don't want to you catch a cold."
"It's alright," Leia said. "Since Mr. McClain is here I'll just ride home with him."
"Oh..." he said slowly and in shock. "This is your boyfriend?"
"Something like that," she smirked.
"I didn't except him to be so much older," he said with a light laugh.
"Yeah. Big shocker," Leia said as she went to the car to grab her books.
"Just leave them in there. I'll bring them to you tomorrow," he said.
She smiled. "Oh, thanks. Saves some time."
"Patrick McClain," he said with a small nod. "Her boyfriend or something like that." He smirked as he watched her. Taking her hand, he pulled her into him protectively. "Leia speaks fondly of you. I'm glad that she's being taken care of at school."
"Yes well, someone has to bandage the marks left on her," Vince said. He took the box. "I'll see you Monday, Leia. Get some rest so you don't sleep in class and get more detention," he smirked.
She laughed. "But then what would I do after school?" she joked.
He put the box in the car and got in. Waving to Samuel and Leia he drove off.
"You could always spend some time at home," Patrick whispered into her ear. Letting go of her, he watched as her teacher drove away. Stifling a yawn, he rubbed his shoulders and nodded to Samuel. "I'm done for the day. I'll be seeing you tomorrow."
"Take the day off lad. We've done well. Ye deserve a break."
Patrick smirked and nodded. "Thanks. Sounds good to me."
Leia looked up at him. Her fingers ran over his lips and her heart fell. "Strawberry lip gloss..." she whispered. "I suppose you have decided to sleep with her then..." She turned from her and pulled out her phone, calling for her driver. She shouldn't feel so upset by it, but she really cared about Patrick...though she told him to sleep with Lilith...she didn't like that he was making out with her.
He reached for her, his hand taking hers. "I haven't decided anything," he whispered. "Right now I simply want you."
She pulled her hand from his. "It's kind of hard to let you have your cake and eat it to when all I can see is strawberry lip gloss on your lips," she said as the car pulled up. The driver opened the door for her and she crawled in, moving over so Patrick could get in.
"Fair enough." He wiped his lips on the back of his hand and slid into the seat beside her. "See? No more lip gloss."
"It doesn't change the fact that you and her kissed. I thought it was just going to be sex. I didn't know you were getting involved with her." She waved to the driver and he started to the villa. "Are we having an open relationship again?"
"No," he said quickly, realizing how hypocritical he was being with that one statement. "I'll keep from kissing her." There was always sex. He wasn't going to get involved. It would simply be a quick and easy screw. Nothing more. Nothing less.
She nodded. "Alright." As they pulled up to the house, she held her vase closer to her when she stepped out onto the icy pavement. Walking inside, she set the vase on the table in the center of the room. "I want flowers in this and I want this vase treated like gold. If it's so much as cracked, I'll fire all of you," she said to the maids. Quickly, they all nodded. "Good."
"Did you already eat?" He tossed his apron over his shoulder and slid his shirt over his head. "If so, then I'll just grab a shower and probably head to bed early."
"Yes, Mr. Daniels brought dinner before we started running errands," she said as she started pulling her uniform off while walking to her car.
"Would you like to join me in the shower?" His eyes traveled over as she stripped. He felt a longing and a tug at his heart.
"No I think I'll just take a long bath...I have a lot to think about." She looked at herself in the mirror and placed her fingers on the mark on her collar bone where Mr. Daniel's fingers had last been.
Leia stirred and looked up at him. With a yawn, she looked at the clock then groaned. She sat up and slowly got out of bed to get ready for school. "You know...you haven't used your driver..."
