They made the last month of travel under the falling red and orange leaves. It was now the week of the full moon and the group made another little break to allow the horses to catch their breath. Lyra went into the forest to find some firewood and she walked between the bushes to find dead branches. She bent herself and heard a small mew. She automatically turned around and stared through the leaves. She returned to what she was doing and heard another light noise.

“-It's been a long time since Lyra is gone…I'm starting to get worried, said Midoriko.
-Don't be, if anything had happened to her, she would had scream, and Kohaku would have start running for her…”

A loud scream pierce through the air and Kohaku went into a blow of wind into the direction where the cry had come from. He ran as fast as he could, many branches scratching his cheeks and arms because of the speed they hit him. He jumped a bush and asked, panting heavily:

“-Lyra! Are you okay?!”

She turned to him and hung him a big fur bowl under the nose. He stared down at it and noticed two blues eyes with a black vertical pupil in the middle of each of them. It was a cat. Kohaku sighed and asked politely:

“-Lyra why did you scream?!
-It scared me a little bit…
-Oh…Is that so…
-Isn't it so cute?!
-Huh… Yeah…”

She hugged the grey cat tightly as it started to purr into her arms. They went back to the clearing where they had set the camp for the night, Lyra with her purring cat into her arms. Midoriko quickly ran to them asking how Lyra was. They explained the story and sighs of relief were heard. Kohaku entered the little tent he shared with Mokuba and his older brother joined him a few minutes later.

“-So you ran the fastest you could for nothing…
-I guess so, though it was worth it…
-For a cat?!”

A silence fell on the two men and Kohaku sighed loudly, obviously annoyed. The sun began to set after the four pals had finished their last meal of the day. Kohaku sat on the ground, in front of a small stream that passed through the clearing, cutting it in half. He stared mindlessly at the rosy sky and jumped a little when he felt fluffy thing rubbing itself against his leg. He turned and saw that it was only Lyra's cat. He caressed the pet slowly as his thoughts returned to the young woman that hunted his dreams. He looked from the corner of his eyes when he heard soft footsteps coming to him. Lyra sat beside him and took the animal into her arms. She put her little finger on his cheek a puzzled look on her face. He raised an eyebrow at her gentle touch and she asked innocently:

“-What happened to your cheeks and arms, where does those little scars come from?!
-It's nothing, don't bother worrying about me, I'm fine...
-Why are you angry?!
-I am not angry!
-You're pissed then?!
-Lyra...
-What?!
-It's just that...
-What?!
-You got me worried back then, I was really scared that something had happened to you!”

Her eyes widened and a small blush appeared on her cheeks. He avoided her gaze and sighed silently to himself; he didn't like to embarrass her. A small finger went under his chin and made him turn his face slowly toward the girl beside him. They stared in each other's eyes for a few minutes and Kohaku bent his head and captured her rosy sweet lips with his into a soft but passionate kiss. She wrapped her arms around his neck as he enveloped her small waist in his arms to take her closer to his body. Her hand traveled up to take a small grip of his silky blond hair. A moment passed and Lyra broke the kiss, panting softly. She kissed him gently on the cheek and went to the tent she shared with Midoriko. The night fell on the clearing where the small group of travelers stayed, dreaming peacefully about what they cherished most.
