Gary Shade and Daphne Hypnis opened the two double doors and the gang walked in.

Inside was a small room with a door on the left and right sides. In the centre was a small pay booth with a teenager who had dozens of spots and strawberry blonde hair that was covering his eyes, he was chewing gum whilst playing on a gameboy.

 

Nick, Kevin and Holly went up to the guy

“Errr we were told to come here-”

“To watch Master Marcus training his pokemon its $5.00 kid's $8.00 adults take the door on your right” said the teenager still looking at his gameboy.

“We were sent here by Marcus' father” said Holly

The teenager looked up “what?”

“We've gotta battle him” said Danielle

“Quickly” said Kevin

“He hasn't had a challenger in a while,” said the teenager looking thrilled- “take the door on your left” he then said looking down at his gameboy.

 

The crowd shuffled through the door into a hallway that had windows all along the right hand side looking over a pokemon battlefield. They started walking towards the end of the corridor towards a door, several of the group noticed that on the other half of the battlefield was a hallway with windows; inside were several people looking at the battlefield. The battlefield was simply plain concrete; not interesting. Just before they reached the door a voice came out on a speaker

“Attention! A pokemon battle is about to commence at the house of power”

Shortly after, behind the door they came through from the pay booth area was full of noise. This seemed to be quite an event here.

 

John opened the door and they all turned right onto the field where they looked around. The hall with spectators was filling up fast; on the other side of the field was a small set of steps going down to where a door stood.

 

After a few minutes of looking stupid, the group looked at the door as it opened. A man about 35 years old came out. He had green hair, a red T-shirt, a brown jacket, a blue belt, yellow trousers and white shoes.

 

“Greetings travellers I am Marcus; leader of the house of battles” said Marcus

“Not the leader of fashion though” whispered Amy

“You are here to challenge me on wish of my father, correct?”

“Yeah” said Mark

“Ok, I shall use a pokemon of a certain type and you must use a pokemon of the same type, agreed?”

“Whatever” said Danielle boredly

“Good” said Marcus as a referee came out from behind him and stood in his place

 

“Go Exeggutor!” shouted Marcus throwing a pokeball.

Danielle stepped forward as she had the grass type, she was about to throw it when the ground began to shake.

Suddenly blades of grass began to come out of little holes in the concrete that the group had not noticed. Soon the field had a grass floor.

“Sorry about that, it's a little thing I had install” said Marcus

“Whatever,” said Danielle “Go Ivysaur!”

“Go!” shouted the referee

 

“Ivysaur use razor leaf!”

Ivysaur shouted its name while sharp leafs threw out of its bulb towards its enemy

“Exeggutor, reflect”

Exeggutor glowed a warm yellow and made a wall in front of it made out of light. The leafs bounced off the reflect and fell to the ground.

“Exeggutor use egg bomb!”

“Hit the bombs away with vine whip Ivysaur!”

Exeggutor fired several white bombs in the air, they were about to hit their target when Two vines came out of Ivysaur and whacked the bombs into the ceiling.

 

The crowd cheered

“Exeggutor stomp now!”

Exeggutor launched into the air aiming its feet at Ivysaur

“Ivysaur grab its feet with vine whip” Ivysaur released a vine whip and wrapped it around Exeggutor

“Good now throw it into the ceiling!”

Ivysaur threw its opponent into the ceiling making, Exeggutor started to fall.

“Now Ivysaur solarbeam!”

Ivysaur gathered energy and just as Exeggutor was about to hit the grass releases a lime coloured beam from its bulb into Exeggutor, making it fly back over its trainers head

 

Marcus gasped as the crowd cheered.

“Exeggutor is unable to battle, Ivysaur wins” said the referee

“Return Exeggutor” said Marcus looking disappointed

“Good job Ivysaur, return” said Danielle.

“Well done Danielle!” everyone said

“Whatever” said Danielle as she stood at the back next to Violet.

 

“Not bad,” said Marcus “but let's see how you do against this…”

He pulled a pokeball from his belt and threw it

“Charmeleon, come out!” he exclaimed

Charmeleon emerged from the pokeball preparing itself for battle.

Suddenly the ground shook again and the grass went back into the ground but then the floor began to heat up on the field!

“What is this?” asked Mark looking at the glowing field where Charizard stood.

“This field is for fire pokemon, you better have one that can withstand heat” said Marcus

Kevin had a shocked look on his face

“Kevin, go on” said Holly

“Oh, err, yes-” said Kevin nervously as he stepped forward “go magmar”

 

The two pokemon stared at each other fiercely

“Go!” shouted the referee

“Charmeleon use smokescreen!”

Charmeleon opened its mouth to release a dark gas into the air that covered the field

“(Coughs) Magmar swing your tail to blow it away!”

Magmar began to wag its tail at a rapid speed until-

“Charmeleon jump in the air then use mega kick”

After a second the gas cleared in front of Magmar to reveal Charmeleon whizzing towards him-

SMASH

Magmar flew back into the wall

“Magmar are you OK?” asked Kevin as the smoke faded away

Magmar nodded

“Good, now Magmar use ember!”

“Charmeleon use ember too!”

The two pokemon sent spits of fire at each other out of their mouths, not really affecting their target.

“Magmar quickly use fire punch!”

Magmar jumped forward with a fire-tipped hand and smacked it into Chameleon's stomach; sending it into the wall.

“Nice job Magmar” said Kevin

Charmeleon stood up and began to yell. Suddenly it glowed bright white; everyone's eyes were on Charmeleon as they watched it evolve into Charizard.

“Whoa, Charizard!” said Marcus as he watched his new pokemon appear

Charizard flapped its wings and looked at Magmar

“Ok Charizard lets go, use flamethrower!”

Charizard fired a powerful beam of fire at Magmar who tried to stay put but was slowly getting pushed back.

“Magmar!” exclaimed Kevin

“Charizard slash attack!”

Charizard leaped forward and slashed Magmar.

Kevin gasped

“Now finish it with your seismic toss!”

Charizard swooped forward, grabbed Magmar and spun in the air for a few seconds, then he plummeted down to the ground with a crash and a cloud of dust.

After a small period of time the cloud faded and Charizard was revealed to have its arms crossed, looking at Kevin while Magmar lay on the floor behind him unconscious.

 

“Magmar is unable to battle; Charizard wins” said the referee

“No! Magmar return” said Kevin sadly

“Yes! Nice job, return Charizard” said Marcus as the floor cooled down

Kevin walked back to the group. He was contacted with several “nice tries”

“Let's see you beat this then,” said Marcus smiling “Go Golduck!”

Golduck appeared from the pokeball.

Nick stepped forward

The ground shook again and Golduck jumped back to stand next to his master. Everyone watched as the battlefield began to lower into the ground then after a minute water had replaced the floor; there was a pool there. Next several floats came up from the water and lay on the surface.

“Ready?” asked Marcus

“Yeah,” said Nick smiling “Vaporeon, go!”

Vaporeon emerged from the pokeball and jumped onto the float; facing Golduck

 

“Ready? Go!” shouted the referee

“Golduck use water gun!”

“Vaporeon go into the water!”

Vaporeon narrowly dodged to shot of water

“Vaporeon use acid armour!”

Vaporeon became invisible in the water

“Golduck fire water gun at where it was”

Golduck fired the water gun at where Vaporeon disappeared, but the blast just hit the surface; Vaporeon had moved

“Golduck; fire water gun everywhere in the water!”

It failed; none of Golduck's shots had hit Vaporeon.

“Grrr where is it?” said Marcus as Golduck looked around

“Vaporeon use whirlpool!”

Suddenly the float Golduck was on was blasted into the ceiling with a tornado of water.

Golduck fell to the surface with a crash, then his float fell on his head.

 

As Golduck climbed back onto the float he looked at the opposite float to see Vaporeon observing him.

“Golduck use psybeam!” shouted Marcus

Golduck put his index fingers on his forehead then a colourful beam shot out from his head and hit vaporeon into the water

“Vaporeon!” shouted Nick

After several seconds another tornado of water arose where vaporeon had fell in, vaporeon was at the top of it.

“Vaporeon water gun!”

With its ability to control water Vaporeon threw the tornado of water at Golduck, throwing it into the pool. Vaporeon landed on its float gently.

 

After about a minute the referee was about to announce Golduck's failure when he emerged from the pool, looking tired.

“Is your Golduck Ok?” asked Nick, having a soft spot for water types “Vaporeon, we wont hurt it to beat it”

Vaporeon looked confused

“There's no need, we'll still beat you” said Marcus “Golduck use fury swipes!”

Golduck lunged into the air preparing to strike-

“Vaporeon use ice beam!”

Vaporeon quickly released a frosty beam out of its mouth that cased Golduck in ice. Golduck fell into the water in ice-form, floating on the top

“Golduck is unable to battle, Nick and Vaporeon win” said the referee

 

“Well done” said Marcus “but you need to beat me once more to win”
