Red jammed his pillow over his ears, but the noise continued. Frustrated, he banged on the wall separating his room from that of the other trainer. Moments later, Jim walked out, headphones blaring.

“Yeah, what is it?”

“Could you turn your music down please? I'm trying to sleep…”

“Chill, it's only 12 A.M.” Jim said. “Quit being such a pansy.”

Red saw red. His ruby eyes drilled into diamond, and he almost wanted to release his pokémon and have them deal with this punk, but he bit his anger back down. He was the Kanto League Champion, for crying out loud, but all they saw was a little kid. Frustrated, he packed up quickly, swiped his pokédex at the front desk to a surprised Nurse Joy, and flew back to Indigo Plateau. It took half an hour from Lavender Town, but at least at the Plateau he had a soft bed, peace and quiet.

He absentmindedly palmed in the Master Code to the room, found Lance asleep already, kicked off his sneakers and took off his cap before snuggling into bed next to him. The Dragon Master barely stirred, and Red felt better almost immediately. It was nice and quiet and warm…

Needless to say, Lance was quite surprised when he woke up the next morning, but he was not about to complain, and Red was quite cheerful when he woke up and found Lance kissing him.

This was so much better than camping out!
