Chapter Four

The forty laps end and a few of the girls lean against the fence to catch their breath, not wanting to sit down just to have to get back up again.

"All right, Kurai, Akari, Court D; Mizu, Hikaji, Court A; Koorai, Chikyuu, Court B; Shinzoo and I will be in Court C," Seeshin orders.

"Yes, Captain," the girls reply as they head off to their respective courts.

"The loser from Court D will move to Court A at the end of each match, while the winner of Court A moves on to Court B. the loser of Court B will move on to Court C to take Court C's winner who will move to Court D. everyone understand that?" Seeshin asks as everyone heads off.

"Yes, Captain Seeshin," everyone responds.

The first matches go by quickly, and the victories are: Hikaji in Court A 6-0; Koorai in Court, B 6-4; Seeshin in Court C, 6-2; and Kurai in Court D, 6-0. Akari, Hikaji, Chikyuu, and Seeshin move on to the next court and the next matches commence. Pretty soon five matches have gone by and the large score board reads:

These matches were made to be the interesting ones, pitting interesting rivals against one another. Akari and Shinzoo in Court A, both almost like sisters to one another, both strong in their own ways. Chikyuu and Seeshin in Court B, in hopes of drawing out the potential within Chikyuu. Mizu and Koorai in Court C, slight rivals due to Koorai's friendly behaviors and Mizu's happy attitude. Then there's Hikaji and Kurai in Court D, two long term rivals in power, strength, determination, and skill.

None of the matches are easy on any of the teammates but within forty-five minutes all but one game are settled. The board was updated so that the sixth match sections for each court had a score, with the exception of Court A, where Akari and Shinzoo were pretty close to having to go into a tie breaker.

COURT A:

The team gathers around Court A to watch the tie breaker, where the first one to seven points win. Akari and Shinzoo go at it for another fifteen minutes before Akari finally manages to pull ahead by a point making the score 7-6.

"This is it, match point," Mizu states in awe. "If Akari scores the next point, she wins the game."

It's Akari's turn to serve as she bounces the ball up and down. She throws it up into the air and jumps up to hit it. It flies over the next and right between Shinzoo's legs.

"Match to Akari 7-6," the referee announces.

"My body just wouldn't move," Shinzoo explains.

"Good job, go change and get out of here," Seeshin announces as she fills the board.
