Ranma alternate reality

The Chosen One

By: Angel Princess of Heavens

Hello, minna-san! I decided to revise this prologue and chapter 1,
because I realized that they were very rough. And I forgot to mention
some important things. So don't forget to read the updated versions,
okay? On with the story, then.

Disclaimers: I don't own Ranma or any of the characters.

"Naomi, what is that noise?"

"I don't know, Tenchi. Why don't you check?"

Tenchi frowned and opened the door trying to find the source of the
screams that he heard over the raging rain.

"Weird weather. Something's going to happen," he muttered looking at
the warring skies. He struggled against the fierce winds and tried to
walk toward the source of the noise. That's when he saw the basket.

"A basket? I wonder what it is."

As he got nearer, the wails became clearer. He peered inside the woven
basket and met a pair of dark brown eyes, blazing and fierce.
Startled, he almost dropped the basket but then he stared again. Yes,
it was a baby. A baby boy with a set of lungs that could probably be
heard in Greece. Then he detected another body squirming. A girl baby?
When her long black eyelashes fluttered open, he was staring into
another set of brown eyes. But this pair was gentler, deeper and a
golden hue. But her eyes were glowing with an inner light. Almost in a
trance, he headed toward his cottage and prepared to tell his wife
what he had found.

"Oh, dearest, they are so adorable." Naomi cooed at the babies. They
both had settled and started to doze off.

"They are beautiful babies."

"Tenchi..." Naomi said. Tenchi turned around, fully anticipating
Naomi's next words.

"Perhaps they are a gift from the Heavens."

Tenchi was silent.

"Can we keep them? Please, Tenchi. You know I've always wanted a
child."

Tenchi sighed and gazed at the sleeping twins again. Yes, he wanted
children too. But this was a big decision. Yet it felt right... as if
it were meant to be.

"Yes, let's keep them."

Naomi embraced Tenchi in joy.

"What shall we name them?"

Tenchi held Naomi close.

"How about Ryouga? After my father. And we should name our new
daughter..."

"Akane. After my dear beloved friend."

"Yes, Akane and Ryouga. Hibiki Ryouga and Hibiki Akane. I like the
sound of it."

At that exact moment, another couple was lovingly gazing at their
baby. This baby was slightly older than the other two, but his
expression of peace was the same.

"Oh, darling. This is our heir. Our child."

"Ahhh... he will be a man among men. I swear it upon myself that he
will become a great lord, worthy of succeeding me."

"Of course, my King. Ranma will be the best, won't he, Genma?"

"For sure. He is my son and heir after all, dearest Nodoka."

In another part of the world, an old lady looked up toward the sky.

"It has begun. The legend has unfolded. This world will be surrounded
by darkness because of the three eternal beings. Ah, how sad it is."
She wobbled on her long staff and headed toward her village.

"Very soon, the Dark Period shall begin." Unconsciously, tears started
to fall on her wrinkled, wise face. Tears shed for the three innocent
babies that would grow to change the realm. Tears shed for the special
bond of twins that would be forever broken. Tears shed for the
long-lost love that could never be... She wept for herself, nobody,
those three, and everybody.
