“Looks like dinner to me,” says the small one as he darts forward, only to be bought up short by a hand on his collar.
“You idiot, think before you leap,” says the one holding him.
“But, Jamie, I'm hungry,” he looks up at him beseechingly.
Turning him around to the center of the clearing Jamie say, “and I'm sure he thought the same thing,” pointing out the corpse of the vampire.
“Oh.”
“Oh, he says,” swinging the kid back around to face Zal, “and take a closer look at what you just called dinner. He's not even human. Do you have any idea what could happen if you took in non-human blood? I mean, just take a look a the kid over there?” He stops, startled, as Sean's appearance registers on his conscience.
Sean leans down his blue gaze never leaving the four intruders, he grips the handle of the knife. His eyes flash red for just a moment and then he is standing next to the vampire corpse, leaving Jamie holding the cut collar of a shirt.
“JJ!” Jamie calls out as he steps forward, while the other two spread out behind him.
“So you're name is JJ,” whispers Zalndor/Sean in JJ's ear as he gently traces the tip of the knife down JJ's throat. Zalndor's other arm wrapped around JJ's waist pinning his arms to his side.
Using the tip of the knife Zalndor forces JJ's head back and to the side exposing his neck. “Your kinda cute JJ, to bad the beast doesn't like you and my host is more interested in my father. We could have had some fun, you and I.” He runs his tongue along JJ's neck ending with a nip on the earlobe.
“No, no, no,” Zalndor says, as Jamie steps forward, “We wouldn't want to hurt little JJ, here,” digging the tip of the knife in just deep enough to draw blood, “though any rash actions of yours.”
“Jamie,” speaks up the fellow behind and to the right of him, “have you checked out his aura yet? I have never seen one so chaotic. It looks as if three different people are fighting for control of one body.”
“Take a closer look, Jon. It is not just three people fighting for control but three different beings. One of which is quite feral,” states the one to the left. “In point of fact the dominate aura right now has similarities to the one over there,” nodding to Zal who is standing in the back, watching events unfolding as his hands heal.
Zalndor laughs as he turns his head slightly to look at Zal, “You hear that, Father, we have many similarities.”
“I thought you were not going to be able to come again until after the bonding was complete, Zalndor.” Zal replies, while trying to keep an eye on everyone, ready to take to the skies if anyone comes close to him.
“Yes, well, I'm the compromise The other two are fighting, The beast wants to drain everyone dry and be done with it,” gently bites down on JJ's neck, scrapping his teeth along the flesh as he pulls back. “Sean, well while he is hungry he doesn't want to kill them. Thinks they might be useful but hasn't come up with anything yet to make the beast back down.”
Kicking the corpse at his feet, turning it face up, “which reminds me Father was this the one who turned Sean?”
Zal shrugs, “do not know who turned him, but he was one of the ones hunting him. Would you not know that better then I? After all you are the one sharing a body with him.”
With a shrug and a look of embarrassment Zalndor says, “Well, here's the thing, I've only been with Sean for a few days. I think I joined with him during the time period he is missing or shortly thereafter. Usually take awhile to get use to the new prison before I can sense though it. I have never before been able to come forward and act though one before.”
Jon inches forward while listening to the two demons talk, when he stops suddenly as he gets a good look at the face of the dead vampire. “Jamie, that's him. That's one of the spies we have been hunting.”
Zalndor leaps back with JJ in two, as Jamie steps forward to take a closer look at the corpse. JJ bites back a gasp as the knife digs into his flesh.
“Now, now you are going to make me hurt the dear boy, here,” he runs the knife across JJ's throat hard enough to break skin, “I know this won't kill him by itself but if you have not noticed yet this is a silver blade. I cut deep enough and he'll bleed out before he can heal.”
“I wish these two would hurry up and come to a compromise, the sun will be up in an hour,” Zalndor mutters just loud enough for JJ to hear. “To hell with this, at the rate those two are going we'll be burned to a crisp before they reach a decision.”
He steps over to Zal, keeping a firm grip on JJ, watching the other three examine the body. “Father, the sun is rising, I need to get into shelter soon. The closest we have is the tomb there, exactly how secure is it?”
“It is secure. None can open it other then I,” replies Zal.
“Good, I'm going to take shelter in it for the day then. I need you to spend what is left of the night finding shelter for tomorrow in the direction of our meeting place with mother. Once I get those three away from the corpse I need you to bring me the stake you used on him.”
Zal casts a thoughtful look towards Zalndor, notices JJ casting fearful looks between the two of them. JJ's face drains of what little color he had, as he thinks he understands what is going to happen next. He shakes his head cutting himself on the knife, “No, you're not putting me in that thing,” he cries out as he starts to struggle.
Jamie and the others look up just in time to see Zalndor, his eyes flashing from blue to red and back again, sink his fangs into JJ's neck, stilling him instantly. They rush forward, just as Zal steps between them, “Stop, Zalndor still has the upper hand,” as a loud growl echoes though the clearing, as the flickering of Zalndor eyes slows remaining blue for longer periods, “You doing anything rash and your friend will die.”
“He's my brother,” Jamie interrupts, “What happened?”
“He heard something he didn't like,” Zal says as he walks to the corpse and retrieves the stake.
“Tell him to let my brother go,” Jamie says as he watches them move towards the coffin.
“That is one of many things I can not do,” Zal replies as he moves to join the others at the coffin. “I do suggest you three find some shelter from the dawn. Oh, and it would probably be wise to bring some non-human breakfast with you this evening. This is as much for your brothers safety as for it is for my masters.” With that he thrust the stake though JJ's heart and continues to push it though until it penetrates Sean's heart as well, leaving them both paralyzed. “This way my master can not feed on him before I release them and your brother can not turn on my master during the day,” and with the closing of the lid Zal is in the air and gone before they can say anything.
Jamie and the others rush forward and waste thirty minutes trying to pry the lid open before having to give up. Jamie turns to the as yet unnamed fourth, “Jonas, you are the fastest of us three, take proof of that one's death,” pointing to the vampire, “tell them we are still searching for the other four spies. Bring back what supplies and equipment you can. Jon and I will hunt out a place to rest for the day and then do what we can to provide a breakfast for that, that… What do we even call it?” He looks back to the tomb as they walk away, “Be safe brother.”
