Chapter 5 - Fate's ExcitementClotho sat working on the thread of time as the others wove it into the newtapestry, enhancing its already startling detail with each new thread.Absently, Latchesis began to hum a tune she had heard in the small star shapedlocket that the prince had given to Selenity. She did not realize that she was doing it untilshe felt the eyes of her sister aspects on her. Blushing, she said, "What? Do I haveambrosia in my teeth again, perchance?"Clotho giggled while Atropus shuck her head and scowled. "You silly aspect, don't you know that you were humming that disgustingly simple tune that binds the twolovers together?" Turning to Clotho, she said, "I believe our sister has taken a shinetoward our parallel tapestry."Clotho sent Latchesis a searching look before saying to Atropus, "Leave her befor now sister. Her penchant harms no one, so let her be."Atropus fumed at being contradicted when they all knew the rules of the tapestryweaving. They could do as they liked as long as no one came to harm, and Atropus knewthat when Latchesis began to hum, her mind wandered, shattering the concentrationneeded to focus on the weaving. "I will not leave her be. IF her clumsiness hurtssomeone by accident, who do you think they will punish? IF they realized we share ourtasks there would be no end to the punishments Zues would throw down on us." Turningto Latchesis, she said through clenched teeth, "Think Latchesis. Think before you allowyourself to become involved. Its one thing to watch it unfold. Its another to becomepersonally involved, even from a distance.Latchesis pursed her lips into a pout at being reprimanded, but in truth she knewAtropus was right. "Shall we then put the tapestry aside?"Clotho said, "I would think not, sister. Once we start weaving, the tapestry mustcontinue until it is done. There can be no doubt that it must be finished. Now hush andget back to work."Sighing, Latchesis nodded and turned back to the part of the tapestry that lay inher lap and began the careful stitches of life once more.
