Chapter 11 - Fate's DeceptionClotho came running in with some new threads to be added to the tapestry. Excitement filling her voice, she said, "You were right, sisters. The new variable haschanged things drastically. I think we shall have a union of Endymion and Selenity yet, even without us preordaining the match."Latchesis smiled gaily and said, "I knew that they were ment to be together anytimelines, despite out additions."Atropus nodded her agreement as she looked up from her stichery. "It does seemthat Latchesis is right. But I purpose one last obstacle for them to overcome tothoroughly prove their love for one another. And if either of them fails this test, they willbe destined to marry someone else. Selenity will marry Blaine. And Endymion, bitter andalone, will marry.......Beryl."Both of her sisters looked on Atropus in shock. Clotho was the first to voice herthoughts. "But Beryl is dead, Sister."Atropus smiled wryly and said, "So she is, my dear Clotho. But with the dark forces she harnesses, she can be revived. And this time, with Endymion and his four Generalsat her side, she will destroy the Moon, with no predestiny for Queen Selenity's child to bereborn as Sailor Moon."I think it will make for a very interesting situation. If their love is true, it will savethem all. And if it is not strong enough, then the tapestry is finished, with Beryl assupreme ruler and Endymion at her side, as a mindless puppet."Latchesis looked at the tapestry that had begun to grow darker with everynew stitch. "I do not care for that challenge, Atropus. They are only mortals, after all."Smiling sagely, Atropus whispered, "Ahh but have you forgotten that the onecalled Selenity wields the Silver Crystal? She has a fighting chance, Latchesis. All she hasto do is take it."Clotho beckoned Atropus to rise and come and help her with the next batch ofthreads, to which they would add a new lifeline for Beryl. As Latchesis watched them depart, an idea came to her. Sliding from her seat shewent to Atropus's side of the tapestry and looked into it. And with the gentleness of anexpert weaver, she cut one thread and tied it to another, producing a second line from thetwo combined. Looking down at the single pink cord amist a world of dark threads, shenodded to herself in satisfaction.Whatever happened now was up to the mortals. For she had done all she could intheir favor. She just hoped it would be enough to bring the lovers back together and keeptheir bond strong enough to defeat Beryl once again. Touching her fingers to her lips and then to the pink cord, she sent a blessing alongwit the new life she had produced. Whispering to it as she caressed her finger along it, shesaid, "I pray you will be enough to save them, little one. Go to the past with my blessing, and help your parents reunite. For if you do not, I fear, all will be lost, even you."
