June 8 589 AD 7:30 AM

Katrine threw back the covers and avoided waking her
still sleeping partner. Upon ascending to her feet, Katrine
began her walk towards the spacious window next to her wardrobe.
She unlatched the segments and widely opened it to the still dark
magically sealed sky. People were already at work in the dim light
of candles and magic powered light fixtures that adorned every
corner. It was said that Katrine had the most beautiful view in the
entire palace. Well, she was Princess.

Katrine turned as she heard a rustle from behind her.
Kazuo stood there, covered by a white sheet held up to her collar
bones by one uncomfortably twisted hand. She frowned as she shook
her dusty brown mane which had been tangled by the action of sleep.
"Good morning, Kat!"

"Shh," whispered Katrine as she moved her finger to her
mouth, "Do you want to wake Their Most Royal Majesties?" She
indicated the general direction in which her parents' chambers
could be found. "Now, hurry, get dressed, we go hunting in an hour,
and then it's onto the mines for inspection." She moved in closer
to the other girl and kissed her gently. "Quickly, now, we haven't
much time!"

June 8 589 AD 10:00 AM

The elevator descended down the shaft as the three figures
riding in it conversed. "Well, by the magic, I don't know how you
two keep getting away with it! I mean it's not like you keep it all
covered up! Their Majesties are sooo dense!" chuckled the redhead,
as her sheathed sword clanged lightly against the metal walls of
the lift.

"Rika, really, insulting my parents!" Katrine stuck her
tongue out at the noisy red head as if disgusted by the
possibility. "Only I'M allowed to do that."

"I can get away with it at times too," quipped Kazuo.

"Heh," replied Rika, "Kat will let you get away with
anything as long as you keep her satisfied."

The hand quickly fwapped the red head, and it's owner said,
"Keep this up and I'll throw you in the Royal Dungeon, sworn
defender or no!" The smile on her face betrayed the serious tone
of the threat.

The indicator light changed green as the lift came to a
stop. "Oh," declared Kazuo, "We're here, at the mines."

Rika smirked, "Yes, the princess and I are illiterate.
Thank you so much for helping us read."

Kazuo playfully hid behind her lover. "Kat!" she whined,
"Rika's being mean to me!"

"Ok, that's enough out of both of you," declared Katrine,
"We now have work to do."

The lift door opened and the three stepped out onto the
rocky floor. Their first stop was the metal workings of Katrine's
expert uncle, known these days simply as Corvus, The Metalworking
Raven. The group closed on his position as he was taking out a
beautiful sword. He was complaining to a senshi as she followed
him watching the sword.

"If you break that sword..." said the senshi, obviously
very attached to the item in question.

"Cool your stokes, Charon, have I ever damaged this beauty
before?" He smiled as she shook her head, still not taking his eyes
off the lightly shining sword. He placed it in a sheath at the far
end of the room as the trio came upon him and he turned to them
with glittering eyes. "Hello, Rika, Kazuo, 'Your Majesty'" he said
to each and made a mock bow of reverence to his niece.

"Oh, stop that," commanded Katrine lightly. "You know I'd
never call you 'Duke Corvair' as your title demands, so please
return the favor."

"My, my, we are having a temperamental day, aren't we?" He
leaned over to Kazuo and in mock whisper inquired, "It's not her
time of the month, is it?"

"UNCLE CORVUS, how dare you?" asked Katrine in mock horror,
"Must you tempt fate in such a way?"

He laughed. "Just a minute, I have to go get some raw Scarium
for Sailor Saturn's new Glaive, she ordered it about two weeks ago
and I just haven't had the time to make it with Charon's Darkness
Sword needing repair." He wandered off down a corridor and then called
behind him, "Hey, Katrine, could you get me a l-- AHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhh..."

"Uh? What was that? We couldn't hear you!" shouted Kazuo.

"Well," Rika commented, "Might as well go ask what he wanted.
Right?"

The other two nodded and stepped into the cave's corridor.
Katrine stepped forward only to have her arm grabbed. "Move forward
again, Eunomia, and you die." It was Charon, Sailor Charon. She was
the senshi of the darkness and had the ability to see in the dark.
"The Duke just fell down that shaft, I'd rather you not join him. I
enjoy our sword matches far too much."

Katrine stepped back and lightly brushed her leather armor,
more to relieve any stress than to correct it's abusing angle. "Well,
thanks, I appreciate... wait did you say... my uncle...?"

"Unfortunately, I could not save him in time. I barely
managed to rescue you. You really, since this is an inspection tour
officially, ought to demand magic lights be installed." She looked
about the cave. "I won't always be here to save your ass."

Katrine nodded, still stunned. "Right... I'll tell my mother
as soon as I get back to the surface. I should stop at the armory
and pick up the Comet Saber, or we won't be doing much more sparring."

And so the quartet stopped at the armory and sent word to the
Royal Chambers that Duke Corvair had a fatal accident. Katrine picked
up her sword. It had lost it's edge and had needed to be sharpened.
Not that she actually expected to use the thing anytime soon. The last
attack on the Sol System requiring the use of Senshi instead of regular
guard was... was... many centuries ago, to say the least. Yet, as the
Asteroids were fund of metal work, as was their lively hood, so the
Royal Family had been trained in the sparring and fencing arts since
practically the beginning of time, and so Katrine had her people's
reverence for such weapons. She would never abuse her sword or leave
it unprepared. To do such in the Asteroid society was much the same as
dropping a nations colors or defacing a religious icon.

The group concluded their romp after inspecting the gem
depository. It was from this depository that all the magic crystals
that provided the large amount of magic resonance for sol system were
grown both naturally and artificially. They then, feeling quite
gritty with sweat from the heat in the mine, made their way back to
the lift.

Katrine leaned against the wall and Kazuo leaned against her.
"Say," smiled Kazuo, "How about we take a nice long bath when we get
back."

"Sounds like a good idea," replied Rika.

Kazuo frowned. "Uhm, I meant Katrine and me. You know,
*together*."

Rika just shook her head while Katrine answered, "Well,
as much as I'd like to... I received royal summons when we were
still in the depository. My mother wants to see me as soon as I
shower, and a shower it will be, I don't like tempting fate by
spending time with a bathmate."

Kazuo cutely pouted. "Awwwwwwwww, I want my Kat!"

Laughing as Rika continued to shake her head, Katrine
just said, "No, later, I promise. My mother is not to be trifled
with. She make Sailor Mars look like... like... Mercury!" Charon
quietly chuckled and the trio had realized that they were not alone. Katrine blushed furiously. "Uhm, Charon... uh would you mind not,
uhm spreading any of this conversation around... I mean... uh..."

Charon smirked an replied, "My lips are sealed." The trio
let out a long phew. "Though you people don't seem to be able to
keep it quiet."

"Well," answered Rika, "Those that know generally keep such
knowledge to themselves. They can be trusted, and-"

"And I can't," continued Charon.

"Well," blushed Rika, "That's not exactly what I meant... I
mean my job is to protect my Princess, and that includes her reputation
as well as her physical health."

"So I see," commented Charon in a voice that signaled the
ending of the discussion as the lift beeped green for surface level.
The quartet gave each other different partings and went there separate
ways.

June 8 589 AD 2:00 PM

Katrine stood before her enthroned mother. The woman was
already beginning to gray and wrinkle. Katrine frowned as she realized
she didn't even know her mother's age. Was she a hundred, a thousand,
still older? Her mother had not often talked about Katrine taking
over the kingdom, and yet Katrine had a dark feeling this would be
that talk.

"Come forward"

Katrine stepped forward.

"Closer, let me look at you, girl. My eyesight is not what it
once was."

Katrine stepped closer and allowed the woman to inspect her.

"The first thing of business- step back girl, I feel crowded."

Katrine inwardly sighed and stepped back.

"The first thing on the agenda is the current situation on the
moon. It seems a dark energy being is attempting to attack it and the
Senshi are being called in to help with the defense. The guard is not
expected to be enough."

Katrine trembled... Battle? Her? She had never actually fought.
Trained, sure, but fought? No she refused to do it.

"Mother, I have not the training, I shall be kilt."

"Thou art called upon," replied her mother.

"Why?"

"Thou art needed," answered her mother, losing patience.

"Why?"

"Quiet, Child, do as thou art bidden," commanded her mother.

"I shall not go. We need not protect Serenity, we have all
we could ever need here. I shall not go."

"Thou shalt go."

"I am princess."

"She is greater."

"No one is greater than me."

"Thou shalt go. I command thee, or dost thou wish to disobey
thy Mother?"

"I shall go."

"Good," smiled the old woman. The wrinkled lips disgusted
Katrine so that she wished to be free to vomit.

"Can my defenders go along with me?"

The disgusting smile formed again. "I'm glad you asked that
question. The answer leads to our next part of the agenda. You have
been called upon by one of Endymion's court-"

"MOTHER! I shall not marry a man I do not know!"

"He is of noble birth, if I will it, thou shalt!"

Katrine fumed. "He is to accompany me, is he not?"

"He is."

"I see," Katrine looked at some random tile on the marble
floor. "Is he not here?"

"He is, shall I order him in?"

"Thou shalt."

She lowered her voice and switched speech patterns, "I am
glad that you shall allow this."

"I have no choice, do I?

"No." Katrine shuddered as the smile once again appeared.
"You have no choice."

"Guard," she called to a man with a sword standing at the
entrance to the throne room. "Call Nobleman Chromite and his attendant."
The guard nodded an scrambled off. Coming back he saluted the queen and
stood before her.

"Your Majesty, for your approval I present Noblemen Chromite
and Autunite, generals of the Terran Guard and Members of the Court
of Prince Endymion of the Terran Kingdom."

The Queen nodded. "Your presentation is approved, return to
your duties." The guard stood up, saluted, and quickly shuffled to his
usual place. "Nobleman Chromite, Nobleman Autunite, step forth, let me
see you."

The two approached the queen as Katrine stood off to the side.
They had strange uniforms, not like the usual guard at all. Aside from
their identical capes, they were both wearing gray uniforms that folded
over from one breast to the the other. A line traced the edge of this
fold and where it broke off to trace the shoulder line to the neck, a
jewel the same color as the line stood as a button. The collar was
neck high and came with in two inches of the chin. The one on the right
which had been introduced as Nobleman Chromite had long spiked red hair
that reminded her of Rika, her swordswoman. His stone and lines were a
dark purple. The other, Nobleman Autunite, had short black hair and his
stone was a dull yellowish gold, as were his uniform's lines.

"Nobleman Chromite, you ask for my daughter's hand and the
throne of this kingdom?" inquired the Queen.

"I do, Your Majesty," answered Nobleman Chromite.

"Will you also accompany my daughter to the battle on the Moon?"

"I will."

"Depending on the outcome of the battle, we will decide on the
particulars of the wedding. Should you happen to be killed or
captured.... We will have to select a new husband. Is that clear?"

"Crystal."

"Will Nobleman Autunite be fighting?"

"He will."

"If he survives where you do-"

An audible growl came from Katrine as she watched hopelessly
as her mother and a man she'd never heard of dictated her future.

"Quiet, Child, or you shall be escorted out."

"Ahem, as I was saying, if her survives where you do not,
will he consider taking your place."

"He cannot."

"Nobleman Autunite, speak on your own behalf."

Autunite stepped forward and spoke up. "I cannot. I am
promised to Sailor Saturn. Unless you wish to contact Saturn's
Monarchs, I am available."

The Queen scratched her chin and speculated, "If we... No,
Sailiya will never allow such a handsome man to escape from her heir's
grasp. Ah, well. I will search while you take my daughter with you to
the moon where she is needed."

"As you wish, You Majesty," replied Autunite. "May we have
your leave?"

"You may. Go along, Katrine, go with them." Katrine did as she
was commanded as the guard opened the large double doors. She followed
the two generals out when Chromite turned his head to her.

"We don't depart until 8:00 tonight on the Network's Royal
Run. You may have until 6:30 to get your affairs in order, then you
will report back to me."

"I will do what I please, you don't own me. Not yet anyway, and
not at all if I can help it," came the quick response.

"Such insolence will not be tolerated when we are wed."

"Go fall down a shaft," Katrine replied as she turned and
stalked off towards the palace lift. She stabbed at the button and
stepped in. Quickly pressing the close door button, she leaned against
the wall and told it to take her to her private chambers. "Magic help
me." She thought of Kazuo, most likely waiting upstairs. "Magic help
both of us."

June 8 589 AD 6:00 PM

"Must you go?" inquired Kazuo with tear filled eyes.

"I must," came the reply.

"May I come along?"

"Mother will not allow it."

"Your Mother, be damned. Let's grab a pod and run away
together!"

"That's not possible," said Katrine sadly, "We'd be caught and
I disgraced. You, you'd be attached to some second rate household.
I'd be severely reprimanded for indulging in homosexual acts." She
spat the words out as if their flavor sickened her.

"If only it wasn't the Moon you had to go to. Their freedom
is legendary. We'd be able to conduct ourselves however we'd like if
we weren't hurting anyone."

"Fine," nodded Katrine as she looked down at her sword. "Then
I go. I go for you and I go for us. I go for the planet that will one
day be our freedom. I will fight for our freedom and Nobleman Chromite
can take the Asteroid Kingdom and shove it up his-"

"*BRIIIIIIIIIING*" came the sound of the door chime.

"Who is it?"

"~It is Nobleman Chromite and Nobleman Autunite to see you~"

"Let them in," she turned to Kazuo, eyes watering slightly.

The two uniform clad men stepped through the chamber doors.
"Are you ready, Princess?" She nodded and they turned as she gave
one more pining glance to Kazuo and stepped out of the room she feared
never seeing again and away from the only person who possessed her very
soul itself.

June 8 589 AD 8:00 PM

"~Welcome, grab a seat on the Network Pod, keep hands and feet
inside the beam at all times, and remember to make way for royalty.
Thank you and enjoy your ride.~" Announced a feminine voice as the
trio of Chromite, Autunite, and Katrine stepped into the pod hovering
gently in the orangish pink beam. The pod gently bobbed as their boots
hit the floor and the door shut as they took their seats. "~Our first
stop will be Mars, then onto the Moon, then onto Venus with a quick stop
off at Mercury for the return trip.~"

Katrine folded her hands on her lap and silently held back
tears.

"That girl, who is she?"

Katrine looked up, "Hmm, Nobleman Chromite?"

"That girl you seemed so reluctant to leave, who is she?"

"Oh, that's Kazuo, my mother's lady-in-waiting's daughter.
We've been best friends for as long as I can remember," replied Katrine,
hiding another tear.

"Seemed to me she was more than that."

"Just what are you insinuating, Sir?" inquired Katrine, giving
him an icy stare.

"Depends on what is or is not," he replied cryptically as
Autunite chuckled gently.

Autunite hunched over, "I've seen that look before, Princess.
It's the look one gives one's lover. Or at least that's what it looked
like from my angle. Whether that angle is flawed or not, now that I
can't say."

Katrine shook her head and proceeded to reply, "I have no
idea of what you speak, Good Sir." She clutched her sword tighter as
she hid yet another tear. "I have no lover, though as it seems, Nobleman
Chromite will one day be forced upon me."

"Do you think I'm stupid, Princess?" inquired Chromite. "I know
quite well I will never possess you with that attitude. I may have your
body but it will be a mindless husk. Mindless husks do not make good
wives."

"Well then, Good Sir, how about we end this charade right now?"
Katrine asked as she fiercely stared at Chromite.

He gently reached over and brushed her cheek, "No, not yet. I
may have use of you yet."

Growling she stood up and slapped him across the face. "You do
not possess me yet, do not mistake that again or I shall hurt something
more valuable for a longer period of time."

"She seems just your type, Chromy," chuckled Autunite.

"And just what, Auty, does that mean?"

"Well you did propose to the Princess of Mars..."

"So?"

"You just like 'em feisty," replied Autunite, "That's all I'm
saying."

Katrine moved to a far corner of the pod and frowned at the
Noblemen's choice of conversation. What was she? Some kind of rich
livestock to be bartered? 'Now I know why I like girls better,' Katrine
said to herself internally. 'How long will it be before we get to the
moon,' she wondered leaning against the corner's pole. 'I can't stand
to be in here much longer.' This was going to be a long trip...

June 9 589 AD 12:00 AM

The doors to the pod opened at Moon Station Central, and Katrine
wasted no time getting out of the thing as soon as possible. The
Noblemen laughed gently as she scurried out into the fresh air and
pleasant Scarium construction of the station. She felt a flush of pride
as she realized none of this would've been possible without her people.
The people who tamed the asteroid belt and mined the rare Scarium for
the entire solar system. Without Scarium the pods and stations couldn't
have been built, for it was the only transition metal that could stand
being exposed to magic for extended periods of time.

She gazed around the station and realized something very
bizarre. No one else was anywhere to be seen. Such a hub of everything,
She didn't expect the only station in the Moon Kingdom to be deserted.
The Network was always the busiest at the Moon. "You! You There!"
Katrine turned the direction the voice was coming but she couldn't find
it. "Down here!" She gazed downwards. It was a cat, a gray cat with
a crescent Moon on its forehead.

"Oh hello... are you Artemis? or Luna? I've heard very nice
things about you two."

"Four. I'm neither. My name is Andromeda, and YOU are VERY, VERY
late. You took your sweet time getting here, didn't you? My we are..."
The cat paused and perked up her ears towards the pod. "Do you hear
that?" She inquired at the trio at large.

Chromite looked at Autunite. "We didn't hear anything right?"
Autunite nodded. The cat looked back at Katrine and she shook here head.

"Is sounds like another person. There was only three in your
pod, right?"

"Yes," said Chromite, "There were only three of us."

"No," countered Andromeda, "There was another. I hear... her.
Definitely a her. Under one of the seats. I suggest one of the generals
go in. We can't afford the loss of another senshi, no offense."

"Another senshi?" inquired Katrine.

"Yes, agents of the Dark Kingdom, that's where they say they
hail from, killed Sailor Charon a few hours ago. The battle's already
started. I TOLD you. YOU ARE LATE," emphasized the cat. "In fact,
get out your pen now, and transform, my orders are to get you out on
the field as soon as possible."

Katrine nodded. "Right." She pulled a yellow pen from seemingly
nowhere and shouted loudly so it resounded off the Scarium beams,
"EUNOMIA POWER, MAKE-UP!" She landed gracefully in her yellow fuku as
she noticed Chromite coming out of the pod with Kazuo. She did a double-
take. "KAZUO?" she shouted running to the girl and then stopping as
she realized once again where she was and who she was in this damned
uniform. "You came anyway?"

Chromite unhanded the girl so she almost tripped but wobbly
maintained her balance. "I couldn't let you just go like that. I had
to come with. I just had too-"

"Chromite, Autunite, I command you!" came a thunderous voice.
Eunomia looked up at a hologram of a evil looking red haired woman.
She looked much like Rika at that time of the month, though the
situation was far to dire to laugh."

"What is you wish, Queen Beryl?" inquired the two generals said
in unison.

Eunomia's heart stopped as she saw THAT smile again. "Kill
Them."

"Yes, Your Majesty."

Andromeda yelled as she jumped upon Chromite's face, "Eunomia,
RUN, RUN, DAMN YOU, RUN!"

Eunomia was not listening. She had seen Autunite turn towards
Kazuo and ran towards them. The evil gleamed in his eyes as he
unsheathed his sword and swung it above him. Eunomia ran, leaped,
and yet the sword was still coming, coming, coming towards Kazuo's
head...

"*CLANG*" clashed the swords as Sailor Eunomia held back the
other sword only inches from her lover's head with the Comet Saber, her
other love. "I..." she strained, "will never... Ugh" she felt a knee
in her side and rolled out of the way, watching as her lover's neck was
severed and her head rolled into the Network beam before being
vaporized by the magical stresses placed on the molecules. "NOOOOOO!"
screamed Eunomia as she stumbled for a footing. "I will.. not... let
you live!"

<<And I shall send them all to Earth with a better life.>>

"NO!" She screamed as she was incased in a pink bubble of sorts.
She savagely tore at the material it was made out of, but she could not
break it no matter what she did. She tried her attacks, but they would
not work against the bubble either. She finally screamed with all her
might, "NOOOOOO! I MUST KILL THAT BITCH!!! LET ME OUT!!!! Let Me Out!
Let me.." Finally against her will she submitted to the darkness as the
bubble made slowly for Earth, silently carrying its precious human
cargo to its new world and its new life.
