"A town? Maybe now I can get something to eat" muttered Jedaite as he entered a quaintlittle town. He found a small inn and entered. He seated himself at a small table, andsoon, the owner came to take his order. "I'll take a bowl of soup, and some water" he ordered. "That's a small order, stranger, 'sure that's all ya want?" the owner questioned incredously, her accent was quite noticable. Jedaite nodded. The owner shrugged, and began to makeher way to the kitchen. But, Jedaite spoke before she got to far. "Have you ever seen Selene?" The owner turned to him. "Nope, can't say I have. Selene is the one who guards Tsuki noMori. It's right behind Koi Town" "Do you know how to kill a goddess?" asked Jedaite softly, that she had to strain to hearhim. The owner gasped. Then in a hushed voice, whispered, "They say that the lady of KoiTown, Lady Beryl, knows. She ain't even afraid of the gods. She doesn't ven believe inthem!" Jedaite nodded, digesting the information. "Thank you" he said before the owner left. ***You Can't Kill A Goddess .:. Prologueby Chibi Michi*** The map says that Koi Town should be about 5 miles north, thought Jedaite. Hecontinued his walk, and soon he could see a distant village ontop of a hill. The obstaclenow was the body of water seperating the two lands. He then noticed a boat that wasabout to head towards the town, and ran to go catch him. "Do you mind if I catch a ride?" he asked politely. The boatmen shrugged, "I reckon. Get on in" Jedaite complied. *Flashback* "Jedaite, I want to employ you" stated prince Demando. "Employ?" questioned Jedaite in response. Demando nodded. "You are a good sorcerer and a warrior. I need you to kill Selene" "The Moon Goddess?! But...how...?" stammered Jedaite. "I'm sure there is a way to kill a goddess. Just remember, I want her daughter alive"replied Demando. "Once you return, I shall pay you a healthy sum for your troubles" *End* Jedaite still didn't know why he accepted the odd job. Maybe it was because he neededthe money, or the adventure. He wasn't too sure. Selene had a daughter, but...who was she? He would probably find out sooner or later. he let out a wry smile. his odyssey wasalmost near an end. The boatmen secured the to the rigid land, Jedaite noticed the self made steps, beforeclimbing, he turned back to the boatmen. "Thank you" Jedaite climbed the many steps, and soon reached a logged gate. "What do you want?" called a woman from the watch tower. "I'm here to see Lady Beryl!" he yelled. "State your purpose" ordered another woman. Jedaite could say there were about a dozenwomen on that watch tower. "I need to talk to her about Selene" he replied. He didn't realize his mistake until it wastoo late. "Are you a spy for them?!" "A spy for who?" wondered Jedaite in response. "Ladies, don't be so rude, let the poor man in" said a masculine voice on the other side ofthe gate. He must be on the ground, thought Jedaite, seeing there were no men on thetower. The gates slowly opened, and a silver-haired man stepped forth to greet him. "I'm Malachite. Please, come in. I will take you to Lady Beryl" he said as he led Jedaiteinto the town. "My name is Jedaite" Jedaite glanced at the tower. "Those ladies are...very high strong" Malachite chuckled. "Zoicite spoils them" "Zoicite?" "You'll meet Zoicite later. But, let me ask you this, what business do you have withSelene. "I'm suppose to kill Selene and bring her daughter to prince Demando" answered Jedaite. "So, you thought Lady Beryl would know how to kill a goddess?" guessed Malachite. "That is what the rumours say" said Jedaite. "That is true" assured Malachite. "He're we are" he announced as they reached a smallhut. Malachite led him in; a woman with long red hair and a purple kimono with piercinggreen eyes sat near a table, sipping her tea. A slight smirk on her lips, she then turned, andregistered the two of them. "Hello stranger" she greeted. "Lady Beryl, he has come to talk to you about Selene" stated Malachite. A slight scowlsettled on her face. "I was assigned to kill Selene and bring her daughter to his highness, Demando" spokeJedaite. "To kill Selene? Now, what would our dear prince want with a dead goddess?" Berylmused outloud. Jedaite shrugged. "I am not sure" "Then why would you take such an odd job as this?" questioned Beryl. "I am not sure myself" he answered. "Do you hope to fall in love with Selene's daughter?" asked Lady Beryl. "Fall...in love...?" he stammered. Beryl nodded. "Yes, everyone knows that she is half goddess, half mortal. Men havecome all over to try and betroth her" "And what happens?" Jedaite questioned. "She kills them" Beryl answers simply. "She's here!!" yelled a voice. "Maybe you should go and start to complete your mission..." suggested Lady Beryl as shegot up and walked out. Jedaite soon followed. He found Lady Beryl talking with afeminime looking man with long blonde hair tied back. he approached the duo. "Where is she, Zoicite?" demanded Lady Beryl. "She's heading from the east and closing in" answered Zoicite. Boom! The ground shook slightly. "Damn..." cursed Lady Beryl slightly. "What should we do Lady Beryl?" asked Zoicite. "Kill her. Make sure that everyone has a weapon" instructed Beryl. Zoicite nodded. "Right" Then, he went to do as he was ordered. Lady Beryl turned to Jedaite. "Why don't you go and greet our guest?" she responded. There was a hidden meaning in her voice that Jedaite couldn't uncover. Jedaite decided to do so. He knew he couldn't stop Beryl and all the people of Koi Townfrom hurting Selene's daughter. Well, not the non violent way that is. he then decided toget to her first. He approached the log gate once more, and firmly placed his hand on the center. he thenbegan to push. "It takes seven men to open that gate!" yelled someone. Jedaite didn't care. and he pushedharder, ignoring the voices around him. He opened it, just enough for him to pass. Everyone stood there in shock. With the exception of Lady Beryl, a smirk was forming onher face. Jedaite walked out, only to be greeted by a girl with blonde hair, in a style that was muchsimiliar to Selene's. She wore a white kimono, a thin handled sword was on her back. Her eyes were sapphire blue. She stood next to a pure white horse, that almost seemed toglare at him. Jedaite looked close into her eyes. They held something...it was hate. Hate for thepeople...or maybe, for all mankind.... *** Author's Notes: This was inspired by Princess Mononoke, and some scenes/scenario's maycome from that movie.
