Cobramaru checked the clock on the wall. It was time.

Looking down at Nana on the floor, he sighed.

How did it come to this? Why did he have to perform this task? Even for a ninja, who took castles from their lords, and lives from the shadows, this mission was too low. No amount of ninja pride would be worth the emotional damage he would suffer from.

Still, he had to do it. But, as a ninja, no one should see him. So, with all the diligence of a shinobi, Cobramaru locked every door and window in the house. Following that, he covered, boarded, and sealed up every opening he could, every last hole, even the smallest crack.

Afterwards, he picked up Nana, and carried her to her room.

Laying her down in her crib, Cobramaru reached out and picked up his intended tool.

Sighing, he opened the book and began to read.
