Wasn't me.

You're sleeping again. There is no hour
in a day when you can't fit sleeping in
your schedule. It's a wonder that you
don't fall asleep when you're playing
basketball. I bet Sakuragi will have a
field day when that happens.

I like it when I find you sleeping.
That's the only time that you're not
looking at me with cat-like [or fox like]
eyes and mocking me with your icy
behavior. You see me as only a hindrance
on your path to greatness; you want to
defeat me. But, know what, Kaede, you
will never defeat me. Because in the
process of attempting to have your
victory against me, you have lost. To
yourself.

You don't realize that do you? That's why
you continually challenge me into a fight
every time you see me. It's alright,
though, challenge me all you want. I'll
never lose, especially when I'm playing
against you.

Why do I say this even if I have lost
basketball games to you countless of
times already?

You're denser than I thought. I'm not
talking about basketball.

It's not just basketball, this game we're
playing. It's a game of determination,
wherein our goal is each other. And I am
winning.

I'm smiling right now, Kaede. Does that
irritate you?

I'm smiling because I know that you find
it irritating. I know that, among other
things. I know that you like cats and
drinking lemonade when it's cold out. I
know that although you won't even admit
it to yourself, you respect Sakuragi's
honesty and determination. Because you
find yourself in him, minus the loudness
and innocent openness.

Ah, got you there didn't I? I'm right
though. You're not as unfeeling as you
want to be.

And maybe, just maybe, when I'm not
smiling and you're not sleeping,
we can play basketball without our
pretensions. You can tell me all about
the things that you escape from. And I
can tell you about the things that make
me frown and the strange snooty fish
that I catch in my dreams.

I look at you smile, if just a bit, in
your sleep and know that that isn't far
from happening.
