Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ A New Leaf ❯ Successes and fails ( Chapter 2 )
Surge stomped into the little apartment and flopped down on the couch after going to a few interviews earlier that day. “I can’t believe this.” She muttered. “That blue idiot made it sound so easy to reform.”
Kit, whistling a cheerful tune, walked in. He looked at Surge, then frowned. “Oh, you didn’t find a job?”
“No, but I guess you did.” Surge said, getting up. She headed to the kitchenette to make them some ramen noodles.
“Yep, I start on Monday.” Kit replied. He followed Surge into the kitchenette.
Surge started warming up the noodles on the stove. “So who hired you?”
“Chick fil a.” Kit said, getting bowls out of the cabinet.
“What?” Surge shrieked.
“Uhm, I’m… I’m a cashier at Chick fil a now.” Kit replied. “Why?”
Surge cursed under her breath. “I can’t believe they wouldn’t hire me, but hired you.” She replied. “How did you get hired while I didn’t? There were two job openings, we could carpool. Morality wise, you’re not much better than me.”
Kit bit his lip. “I have no idea, ma’am.”
Surge smacked Kit. “Stop calling me that.”
“Maybe that’s why.” Kit said. “They’re super polite there and you accuse me of being super polite. Hitting me and cursing isn’t polite.”
“Yeah, but my speed makes me a good fit for the job.” Surge replied.
Kit sighed. “I don’t know, Surge.”
Surge’s phone chimed.
“See who that is, Drippy.” Surge said over her shoulder. She stirred the noodles and added a little sriracha.
Kit walked over to the phone and checked the notifications. “You have a job interview at Hot Topic.”
Surge smirked. “Alright, things are looking up already.” She replied. “What time is it for?”
“Tomorrow at ten.” Kit said. “The manager will be interviewing you.”
Surge poured the ramen into the bowls. “Dinner’s ready.”
Kit walked over. “So if you get this job, we can still carpool.” He said. “I’m working at the Chick fil a at the mall.”
“At least I’ll have a lunch buddy.” Surge muttered.
Kit nodded as he ate his meal. “Yeah, it’ll be awesome.”
Surge half smiled. “It’s better than working for Starline or Eggman.”
Kit got up to get them some water. “Anything’s better than that.”
Surge tasted her meal. “Okay, I got the right outfits for the job, I just need to look up some how-to videos about interviews to see what I’m doing wrong after dinner.”
“Good luck, Surge.” Kit said.
