Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ Manic’s wonderful life ❯ Run away ( Chapter 1 )
Sonic shoved Manic into a chair. “What is wrong with you, bro?” He asked. “How many times do we have to tell you that you can't go out alone?”
Manic leaned on the table, propping his head up with his hand. “You go out alone.” He replied. “It nearly bit you in the behind before. Remember that whole deal with the Sonic tonic?”
Sonic rolled his eyes. “Don’t-”
“He has a point.” Sonia said. “Anyway, Manic, this isn't about Sonic. You don't have his speed or my strength though. I swear it's like you wear an invisible ‘kidnap me’ sign on your back. Please, from now on, stick to the buddy system or we won't look for you again.”
“Fine.” Manic replied. He got up and headed for the door. “Oh, don't worry. I'll just be on the roof of the van, getting some air.”
“Fine.” Sonia and Sonic said.
Manic opened the door and slammed it shut on his way out.
“They're so smug.” Manic mumbled. He climbed onto the top of the van. “They love to point out that I don't have their super powers or that I get kidnapped a lot.”
He sat down and stared off at the sunset.
After nightfall, Manic was still on the roof. He looked at the night sky and saw a shooting star.
“I'd wish on it if I believed it would do any good.” Manic thought.
His siblings hadn't bothered to check on him, giving him time to think. They had fallen asleep waiting on him to come in.
“Sonia’s right.” Manic said, hanging his head. “All I'm good for is getting kidnapped and nearly getting them killed. They'd be better off without me. I don't have any superpowers like they do.”
Manic got up and climbed off of the van. “Sonic did just fine without me before, he can do it again.” He said. “Sonia can too. They don't need me. Even if Ro-butt-nik is defeated, I’m not royalty material.”
Manic crept back inside the van, got his hoverboard, and wrote a goodbye note before heading out alone yet again.
By this time, it was completely dark outside.
Manic couldn't see anything and had considered turning back. However, he knew this area and was certain he could find his way around.
Then he suddenly blacked out.
