Sonia whimpered. "P- please. Don't hurt me."

"Relax, we won't hurt you." Manic said, holding his hand out to her. "We're here to help you."

Sonia slowly reached out to him, but her hand went right through his.

"Are you angels?" Sonia asked.

Sonic opened his mouth.

"Yes, yes, we are." Manic said, nodding. "We're your guardian angels and we're here to help you live your dream."

Sonia squealed. "Is this for real?"

"Yeah, now, we have something for ya." Manic said. He pulled the keyboard shaped medallion out of his pocket. "It's uh… magic."

Sonic turned to look at Manic and mouthed "Magic?"

Manic ignored Sonic.

Sonia looked at it. "So I wear it around my neck like you two do?" She asked. "What're your names anyway?"

"I'm Manic and this is my older brother, Sonic." Manic said.

"Nice to meet you." Sonic said.

"Your name's Sonia, like our sister." Manic said. "Anyway, you'll have to fill out your entry form. You go ahead and do that, while Sonic and I talk strategy."

"Wait here, I'll be right back." Sonia replied. She raced off to another room and shut the door.

Sonic folded his arms and glared at Manic. "You lied to her?"

"Do you think she'd believe us if I told her the truth?" Manic asked. "If we were visible to anyone else, we'd be in padded cells."

"She would be in a padded cell if she told anyone about us, so you didn't have to lie." Sonic replied.

Manic grimaced. "Okay, but it could be magic for all I know." He said. "I just nod when Tails starts his technical speeches."

Sonic slapped his hand over his face. "That's why he gets you to be a test subject. You're not listening, but you're agreeing to it by nodding."

Manic sat down, wide-eyed. "Huh. I should've known."

"With as many reruns of Seinfeld you have seen, you somehow missed the puffy shirt episode." Sonic muttered under his breath. He rubbed at his temples. "Oh, man, I've got a headache now. We're gonna be here for a while. How do we explain this to Tails?"

"Just tell him we're still gathering info." Manic said. "He said he'd understand if it took us a lot longer to find files that may be confidential and would slip us food and water through the slot. Just do the brief shut-off for the bathroom."

"Fine." Sonic replied. "It's better than staying at the base anyway."

An hour later, Sonia finally let them in her bedroom.

She had changed into a slightly nicer jumpsuit and a pair of boots.

"First, you need a stage name." Manic said.

Sonia rubbed her chin. "How about Miyu?"

Sonic typed the name into a search engine.

"I like it." Manic replied.

"It means beautiful moon." Sonic said.

"I was just about to say that." Sonia replied.

"Okay, now you just need an outfit." Sonic said. "I don't think anything you own will impress them."

Sonia checked her purse. "I don't have much money to buy a whole new wardrobe."

"We meant using holograms." Manic said. "All you have to do is wear that plain gray jumpsuit you're wearing right now and the medallion will project the outfit onto it."

"We'll just project the outfit onto you with our medallions and you'll pick which pieces you want." Sonic said.

"Okay." Sonia replied.

Sonic looked at Manic. "You go first." He said. "I'm sure she won't like any of your choices, so we can get that out of the way."

Sonia waved her hand dismissively. "I might like something he picks, you don't know, Sonic."

Manic aimed his medallion at her. "Let me know when you're ready."

"Ready." Sonia replied.

Manic pushed a button on the medallion. "Alright, take a look.

Sonia turned around. She was wearing a black t-shirt dress with red and black horizontal striped arm warmers and over the knee socks. She also had huge, black platform combat boots.

Sonia narrowed her eyes. "You've gotta be kidding me."

Sonic smirked. "Told you."

Manic turned the hologram off. "Alright, but you could just say you don't like it, sis- I mean Sonia."

Sonic aimed his medallion at Sonia. "Let me know when you're ready."

Sonia nodded. "Ready."

Sonic activated his medallion.

Sonia was now wearing a silky, red sleeveless dress and ankle boots. She also had sheer tights close to the same color as her fur.

Sonia grinned. "I love it."

"That was easy." Sonic said, shutting off the medallion.

"Okay, now you try to activate the medallion." Sonic said, handing Sonia a keyboard shaped one.

"Manic, can you activate the outfit?" Sonia asked.

Manic activated his medallion at the same time Sonia activated hers.

Sonia used hers to create a pink light show with hibiscus flowers and hearts while Manic's medallion slowly projected the outfit on her piece by piece.

"Was the anime style transformation scene necessary?" Sonic asked.

"I thought the moment called for pizazz." Sonia replied.

Manic walked away, wiping his eyes.

"Is he okay?" Sonia asked.

Sonic nodded once. "Oh, now I know why you look so familiar." He said. "You look just like our sister."

Sonia sat down on her bed. "Was he close to her?"

"Kinda. He thinks it's his fault she died." Sonic replied. "He hasn't been the same since then."

Sonia glanced toward the door. "I should go check on him."

Manic was laying on the couch with his headphones on his ears. His backpack slouched beside the couch, near his head.

Sonia sat down at Manic's feet. "What're you listening to?" She asked. "What I can hear from it sounds pretty."

"A song that reminds me of my sister." Manic replied. "It's called Lucy."

"Wanna talk about your sister?" Sonia asked.

Manic shut off his phone and slipped his headphones off. "She died when she was just ten." He said softly. "She had a tumor and the operation was supposed to be a simple procedure. She died during the surgery."

Sonia gasped. "I'm so sorry."

"I encouraged her to get it, so she wouldn't die from cancer." Manic said, sitting up. "She wanted to be a singer too."

"I don't think she'd blame you." Sonia replied. She hugged Manic. "Complications happen sometimes."

Manic bit his lip.

Sonia looked at Manic's long sleeve shirt. "Aren't you hot?"

Manic sighed. "No."

"How?" Sonia asked. "Your brother and I are wearing short sleeves. It's the middle of summer and it's a heat wave."

Manic hesitated. "Angels don't get hot."

"Oh." Sonia said. She furrowed her brow. "Wait. I thought angels don't die either. How do you have a sister?"

"They don't." Manic replied. His eyes widened. "Oh, cripes."

"Who are you really?" Sonia asked.

Manic sighed. "Uh… interdimensional travelers."

Sonia nodded. "Well, I… guess it makes sense."

Sonic came into the room. "Are you ready to try singing?"

Sonia played with a section of the long fur on her head. "I don't think I'm the best singer."

"Just try singing for us." Sonic said, sitting down at Manic's feet.

Sonia stood up and sang a couple of verses of a song she had written. Her voice was shaking the entire time.

Manic held his hand up. "Stop. You have potential, but you're just too nervous."

Sonia sighed.

"You got to calm down." Manic said. "I'm sure you'll be awesome."

Sonia took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. "Okay. Let's go again."

This time, Sonic and Manic was blown away.

"Oh, you sound amazing." Sonic said.

Manic wiped his eyes. "You'll totally win this." He said. "Come on, we have to get you to the studio."

Sonia leaned against the dressing room table. "Why am I the only one who can see you two?"

Manic shrugged. "No idea." He said. He snapped his fingers. "Say I forgot to ask. Do you have brothers?"

"No, I'm an only child." Sonia said.

"Alright, let's get your outfit together." Sonic said. "Save the transformation sequence for when you actually have a real concert. It'll add pizzazz to the show."

"It's safer than pyrotechnics, I guess." Manic added.

Sonia nodded. She activated her medallion to project her Miyu dress into her jumpsuit.

Someone knocked on her door. "Miyu, you're up in ten minutes."

"Good luck." Sonic and Manic replied.

"The stage term for that is break a leg." Sonia said.

"The last time I said that for a talent show, someone actually broke their leg." Manic said.

Sonic nodded. "It was me; I fell through the trap door."

Sonia winced. "I better go. Thanks, boys."

Sonia/Miyu trembled ever so slightly as she waited for the results of the competition. She glanced off stage.

Sonic was standing there, eating a chili dog while Manic was biting his nails.

"And the winner is… Miyu!" The announcer exclaimed.

Sonia squealed and bounced in place.

Sonic and Manic raced out and tried to hug her.

Of course, they couldn't hug her since they were holograms, but Sonia thought it was sweet nonetheless.

The three hedgehogs finally made it home.

Sonia paced around the house. "Oh, I can't believe this. This is a dream come true." She exclaimed.

Manic grinned. "I'm so happy for you, sis."

Sonic elbowed Manic.

"I don't mind, Sonic." Sonia said. "Anyway, you need to get all the rest you can get before your first concert and interview tomorrow."

"I know, but I'm so excited, I can't sleep." Sonia said.

"I'll try to make you some tea, maybe that'll help." Manic replied. "Just get ready for bed."

"Thank you so much you two." Sonia said. "I wish I could hug you both."

"Just seeing you this excited is all the thanks we need." Manic replied.

Sonic agreed.
