Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ Second Chances ❯ The interview ( Chapter 5 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Bright and early that morning, Sonic and Manic followed Sonia to the TV studio where her first interview was to be held.

"Couldn't we at least get breakfast first?" Sonic asked.

"We overslept." Manic replied. "It shouldn't take long."

"If you two need to step out while I do the interview, it's fine." Sonia said.

"We might take you up on that if we get too hungry, but we want to see the interview."

An hour later, the interview was still dragging on.

Manic's stomach growled.

"We have time to get a chili dog while she's doing the interview." Sonic said. "It takes five minutes. I already asked Tails to make some."

"You don't want to risk glitches." Manic replied. "They should be done soon."

"It'll be fine." Sonic said, waving his hand dismissively. He shut off his hologram.

Manic sighed and shut off his hologram too.

Manic arrived back at the TV station just as Sonia was walking off the stage.

Manic sent Sonic a message, telling him to meet them at Sonia's home. "So how did it go?"

Sonia followed Manic out the door. "It kinda glitched, but I got it to work very quickly."

"What do you mean?" Manic asked.

"I saw a section of my jumpsuit for a few seconds." Sonia replied. "It was flickering, but the interviewer didn't notice and that part of my outfit was facing away from the camera. I got it fixed and didn't do it again."

"Okay, just let me know if it happens again." Manic said.

"Will that be a huge problem?" Sonia asked.

"No, it just may have been in use too long." Manic replied. "It hasn't been charged in a while."

"How do I do that?" Sonia asked.

"Just give it to me when we get home, I'll handle it." Manic replied. "Don't say anything to Sonic though."

Sonia shrugged. "Okay."

Sonic was sitting on the couch, eating his fourth chili dog when they came in. "How'd it go?"

"Great." Sonia said, taking her medallion off and handing it to Manic. "I'm tired. I need a nap."

"Why are you giving him the medallion back?" Sonic asked.

"It needs to be charged." Manic replied. "Let me see yours. I'll charge ours while we're at it."

Sonic took his off and gave it to Manic. "Are you sure everything is okay?"

"Yeah, I just want to make sure they work." Manic said. He shut off his hologram.

Manic put all three medallions into the charging port.

A monitor embedded in one of the walls came on.

"What're you doing?" Tails asked over the view screen. "None of this is the mission. You're both just piddling around."

Manic huffed. "So? It's just one of your little science projects."

Tails shook his head in disbelief. "Weren't you listening in the meeting? The Mobian guard is funding this."

Manic gulped. "Oops."

"I'll do my best to cover for you, but no promises." Tails replied. "Just stop whatever it is you're doing."

"Alright, we'll do that as soon as we can." Manic said.

Tails clicked off the view screen.

Two hours later, Manic met up with Sonic.

"Finally." Sonia said, taking her medallion. "The concert is in a few hours and we need to practice."

Sonic and Manic watched Sonia/Miyu's concert from the front row.

Manic wiped tears out of his eyes. "This was worth it." He thought. "Tails can still get his stuff working without the Mobian guard. He always does. We have nothing to worry about."
