Super Mario Bros. Fan Fiction / Legend Of Zelda Fan Fiction ❯ The Legend of Zelda: A New Begining ❯ The Storm ( Chapter 1 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Note: Hi! I'm Kandy K. This is my first fic so please be gentle. I don't like flames, but I will read them, maybe even respond, but I take constructive criticism. I've read many, many, many, (1 hour later…) many, many fan fics, so I think it should be ok. I'm dedicating this fic to The Amber Dragon Fly, who wrote the first fic I ever read, and inspired me to write! She even wrote a Kagome/Sessomaru Fic that I liked! So please take the time to enjoy my fav 2, As Fate Would Have it, and its sequel, It Must Be Destiny. But, without further ado, please read, review, and enjoy!

Disclaimer: Mario and The Legend of Zelda Belong to Nintendo, Not me ok? Ok. But there will be characters by me later. ;)

Summary: What happens when Ganondorf is finally gone for good? Will it be for better or for worse? What if it's not true? Preview: "HE CAN'T BE DEAD!" "I'm sorry, but he's gone." "HE WOULDN'T DIE LIKE THAT!" She then broke down sobbing. "If only I could have saved him!" she sobbed.

Chapter 1
The Storm

It was a dark, cloudy night, the darkest night anyone had ever seen. Everyone in Hyrule had locked and secured their windows and doors for the storm that was to come, except for two people. Those two alone had much, much more to deal with, for the fate of Hyrule was in their hands. “Ganondorf shall die this time, I will not rest until he does!” shouted Princess Zelda with rage and hatred evident in her voice. “He hurt us all, and he'll pay, I promise you, Zelda.” Link said, calmly, but it was clear he felt the same as Zelda. “Link, you do realize that either we die or he dies .” “I do Zelda, and he will be the one who dies!” Link said. Zelda turned to Link and as he turned she stared into his blue-grey eyes, as if searching him for lies. In turn he stared into her lavender ones. Without breaking eye contact, Zelda said “Link, I want you to keep this…” She took his hand (as Link blushed) and placed the Orcanica of Time in his hand. They kept their hands like that for a while, still gazing into each others eyes. Link broke out of his daze then asked “Zelda, are you sure? This is a royal family heirloom.” “I know it is, but I trust you Link. Besides, it's not like you haven't had it before.” Zelda said, remembering when they were 7 and 8. “You might need it.” Link nodded his thanks, then played Epona's Song. A few moments later Epona came running to them. “Are you ok about riding bare back?” Link asked. “Um, I'm fine…” Zelda answered. Link just shrugged, and helped Zelda on Epona. “You better hold on tight.” “Huh? Oh…” Zelda blushed as she put her hands on Link's waist. Link chuckled as he thought `She must not know...' “What's so funniiiiiiiiieeee!?” Zelda screamed when she almost flew off. She was holding on to Link so tight that he could pop any moment. “Zel...da?” “Y-Yeah…” “I…can't…breathe…” Link choked out. “Oh!” She loosened her grip a little. “Sorry...” she said, embarrassed. “It's ok, its natural.” he said grinning. `she's still holding on tight, ha! My plan worked!' Zelda didn't even realize that she had laid her head on Link's back. Link was really enjoying it and was grinning like a fool now. `Wow! It's all so beautiful! Arg! I'm such an idiot! Why did I wear my royal gown?!' “idiot…” “Huh?” “Nothing Link!” `I said that out loud!' They had been riding for a few hours now, and Epona was getting tired, so they stopped to rest. Zelda was still holding on to Link, still mentally kicking herself, and Link was still grinning like an idiot. Epona looked at them and shook her head. She nayed (don't hurt me if it's spelled wrong.) and broke them both out of their “trance”. Link got off and helped Zelda down. Epona went to drink some water and graze. Link and Zelda sat under a tree. “Zelda, did you see where he was?” “Yes.” “Do you know how to get there?” “Again yes.” Zelda answered, a bit annoyed. “Well, where was he?” Link asked, completely oblivious to Zelda's annoyance. “I told you! Inside the volcano!” Zelda was very annoyed now. `I told him all this already!' “Well, excuse me-” “DON'T SAY IT!” Zelda was beyond annoyed. `Just back away slowly Link, back away from angry Zelda' Link thought. `Jeez, I can fight Ganondorf, break the time barrier, and survive lava, but I'm afraid of Zelda! And to think I'm the Hero of Hyrule, and I'm afraid of the princess!' “N-now Zel-” “DON'T YOU `NOW ZEL' ME!” Zelda yelled. Link was still backing away, faster now the Zelda was approaching him. “Uh, umm, ha ha… Don't you want to-Ahhh!” Link yelled as he fell backwards into the river. “Link!” Zelda's mood made a complete U-turn from anger to concern and fear. “Zel-da Hel-lp!” Link's words were gargled with the water. Zelda knew Link was a good swimmer but the current was way too strong! “I'm coming Link!” Zelda yelled throwing off her tiara and diving into the ice cold water. Zelda got to Link in a second and grabbed him, she then teleported them out of the water. Link was coughing his lungs out while Zelda was wringing out his hat, which he was somehow able to hold onto. “Link, I'm so sorry, it was my fault you fell in, I'm so sorry…” Zelda said while placing his hat on his head. Zelda used Din's fire to dry Link off. She made it a warm glow around Link. “Zelda, if it weren't for you I would still be freezing, and I'd probably be-” “Don't say it! *sniff* Please, don't say it.” Silent tears were rolling down Zelda's cheeks. `Link can't die, I almost killed him!' “Zelda, please don't cry, look I'm here, I'm ok-” “But you could've not been! It would be my fault!” Zelda was sniffling, trying to stop crying, but as thoughts kept coming, she cried harder. “Link, it would destroy me if you died, and if I was the one who killed you… I'd die.” Apparently Zelda didn't know she was saying that out loud, Link was stunned. `She would die? Why? Why? Does she-? No, she could never, could she?' Zelda was shivering, she hadn't dried herself off. “Zelda…” But Link couldn't find the words. Zelda sniffed some more, she had calmed down quite a bit. “Yeah?” “Zelda, you're soaking wet! You must be freezing!” “Oh.” Zelda said a bit disappointed. As the warm glow surrounded Zelda, she thought `Why am I disappointed?! What else would he say?!' “Well, Zelda, why don't we camp here tonight?” Link asked after yawning. “Link! The storm! Ganondorf!” Zelda spluttered out. “Zelda, you can stop the storm and Ganon doesn't know we're coming.” Link said sitting down. “You say it like stopping a huge storm that could start a flood is easy.” Zelda replied. “Please Zelda, one, the storm's coming fast, and two, I know you can do it.” he said, picking up her tiara and replacing it on her head. `He really thinks I can do it.' The storm was now right above them, thunder booming and lighting flashes. Zelda nodded and turned away, she walked up the hill. Link and Epona got down on the ground as the rain started pouring down. A bolt of lighting was headed for Zelda, but it seemed so slow. “Zelda!” But Zelda knew, she shot her own bolt of electricity at it and sparks of blue and white erupted from where they met, before the lightning disappeared into Zelda. “Oh my God.” Link said to himself. `She's absorbing the lightning!' Link thought as Zelda sent a huge amount of Din's fire into the clouds, burning a huge hole in the storm. Thunder echoed as if a cry of pain. Zelda continued using Din's fire while fighting off the lightning, sending it in a different direction. Link watched in amazement as the storm disappeared before his eyes. Zelda used the last of her energy to create a huge ball of Din's fire, she sent it up and redirected lightning to it. It exploded in a huge blast of flames and sparks, demolishing the last of the storm. Zelda smiled a weak smile at Link who smiled back, then collapsed. “Zelda!” Link yelled as he got up and ran to her, slipping on the now soaked and muddy ground. “Zelda?” Link asked again. Her dress was muddy and scorched from where the sparks had hit her. Her gloves were soaked with mud and her hair was no better with clumps of mud here and there. Some of her skin was burned and they were both soaking wet. Again. “Epona!” Link yelled for her to come over. Epona knew that it was urgent so she ran her fastest. “We have to get her to the doctor at the lake!” Link told her. Epona knelt down as Link gently placed Zelda on Epona, as if she would break at any second. He then climbed onto her, behind Zelda so he could hold her in one arm. Epona then ran off at breakneck speed.
