mangas. But, I do own the ones that I created, like Marta, Christina,
Farge, Kokato and the others that will appear along this fan fiction.

Prologue

"The darkness and the light, the eternal fight without an end, between
the forces of good and evil. When we think that the flame of evil was
definitely extinct, we see, maybe to late, that we were wrong.

As the light, the darkness survives, as long as there exists one
single person that has a heart full of hate and need of revenge. One
single person can, in least that nothing, became a Paradise in a Hell
... to all eternity."

The vision of Escaflowne: Two souls ... two destinies

Chapter 1: Wish or not to came back

... Sunset on the horizon ... Hitomi watch it, seating on a park
bench.

Her thoughts are far away, in Gaea, were 4,5 years ago she made great
friends and she met the true love. Tears rolled down her face and she
started to hiccup, putting her face between her hands.

Eight months ago her mother, father and brother had a car accident and
died. She was now alone.

A white feather falled in front of her, she picked it up. Locking at
it, she realized that it was like the ones from Van's wings. At that
moment she felt lonelier that ever and she only wished to get back to
Gaea, close to her friends. Unfortunately that was impossible. She put
the feather into her jacket pocket and went back to her place, locking
one last time to the sky were the sun was disappearing.

~*~*~

In another part of the world, a girl, near eighteen, was laying down
on her bed. The window, on her right, was open and a nice breeze
agitated her short dark hair, as well as the necklace she holded on
her hand.

" What kind of stone are you anyway? ... Puff! ... I am talking like
you were about to answer me. I must be crazy!" - she seized a necklace
that had a big and beautiful pink stone, which shined at the
moonlight.

She remembered when she found that weird stone. She was on the
Municipal Park of Barcelos when she saw a shiny object landing near
her. It was a beautiful, oval, pink stone that immediately fascinated
her. She thought it was a Rubí, but when she got to a jeweller he was
not able to say what was that stone.

She grabbed it slightly between her hands, and when she saw a shooting
- star she wished that:

« I let this stupid and horrible life and this selfish world, even if
that represents my death. I wanna get rid of this nightmare!»

The girl had several times, thought about getting herself killed, but
she never had the guts to do it.

She could say that she had suffered enough. Since she was young, she
lived in an orphanage. When she was twelve she was adopted, but the
experience was worse than she could had ever imagine. That "supposed"
family left in her, more deep marks that any sword could ever cause to
anyone.

Marta shacked her head, trying to dissipate those stupid memories
that, at every hour, tormented her spirit. She went to sleep little
time after, still with the stone on her right hand.

~*~*~

In Fanélia:

"Your majesty I'm very happy that you have finally got decided!"

"I had no choice."

"But your majesty, you and Farge are friends for a long time!"

"And that was the main reason why I choose her and not one of the
others!" - a boy ... no a man with dark hair, sitting on the Fanélia
throne looked at the floor, a helpless look, crisping his nails on the
chair.

"Your majesty, you have to understand that any King needs a Queen!"

"I know Kokato! I know ..."

Kokato was a royal adviser and he knew that Van was only going to
marry cause he needed to. His people claimed for a Queen and the
chosen was Farge Laguen, the daughter of the Laguen's King, a country
that had a very good relationship with Fanélia

Farge and Van had become great friends since the negotiations had
started and, between the choices that he had for his queen, Farge was
the smart one to choose.

He loved another girl, and he knew that Farge also loved another man,
but his duty as a King was first.

Van left the throne room without a word, heading to the gardens. He
looked at the sky, to the Mystic Moon, remembering ... "Hitomi."

~*~*~

Next day:

Marta woke up early to go to work on the restaurant. For her, all the
days were equal, she felt more and more lonelier. She had no friends,
no family, no nothing.

When she finished the 9º, she left school and she got to work, letting
her adopting family quite after that.

This family lived in Lisbon, and because of that Marta decided to go
North, were no one knew her. Barcelos was a calm city, perfect for
her.

Marta looked after, what she called, a reason to live. She hadn't
found it yet, but, as they say here: " A esperança é a última a
morrer"("Hope is the last to die").

~*~*~

Hitomi was cocking the dinner. Outside the moon shined intensely,
witch, in some way tranquillised her and on the other concerned her.

Ring, ring, the doorbell rang. Hitomi cleaned her hands, and run to
open the door.

"Yukari?!" - Hitomi was surprised to see Yukari at that time of night.

"Hi Hitomi! Am I invited to enter your house?"

"Of course!"- Hitomi opened the door, so that Yukari could enter and
then closed it, locking it. - "What brought you here Yukari?"

"Helloooo! Hitomiiii!" - said Yukari while balancing her hands in
front of Hitomi's face. - "It's Friday and I wanted to see you. Is
that asking to much?"

"Sorry Yukari! I am a little depressed."

"What's up, Hitomi?"

"It's ... it's nothing Yukari. This is going to pass!" - Yukari
watched her in a questioning way, not very convinced with what she had
said.

"You have been very strange lately! You don't wanna talk to me about
..."

"Yukari!" - Hitomi looked at the floor, with her hands closed so
hardly, that it began to bleed. - "Don't! If you are my friend you
will not ask me about anything ... please!" - tears rolled over her
face. Yukari walked over to her and put her arms around her.

"Hitomi ..."

~*~*~

"Christina hurry up. We don't wanna be late!"

"I'm coming, I'm coming!"

A girl, in her twenty's, run from her apartment, going to a disco were
she was going to spend the rest of the night, with the company of her
friends.

~*~*~

Some weeks later:

Van Slanzar de Fanel and Farge Laguen were going to get marry in one
week.

He was wearing brown pants, black boots and a black shirt, without
sleeves. Farge was wearing a white and blue dress, with dark-blue
bodice; she was also using her tiara and a similar necklace that
covered all her neck.

The two of them walked by the garden, were there were the tables with
some of the preparations to the ceremony. Farge grabbed Van's right
arm while they walked through the castle.

~*~*~

Marta walked in the park. Today was her break! She seated in a park
bench and took of the necklace from her neck, looking at it for a
short moment.

Then it started raining and she went down a tree. Her white shirt,
with the picture of a tiger, was now like glue to her body, and her
blue-jean pants were all soaked up.

"Good damn it. How am I suppose to go home now?" - while she said this
words, the stone started shining. Marta was soaked by a shiny pillar
of light that took her into the sky, like it did to Hitomi and Van
years ago.

~*~*~

"Yukari stop it! Ah ... ah, let go of me!"

"This is to cheer you up!" - the two friends rolled on the floor,
trying, to tickle more and more the other. Suddenly a pillar of light
took Hitomi out of there.

"YUKARIIIIIIIIIIII!" - Hitomi screamed, trying, in vain to reach her
friend.

"HITOMIIIIIIIIIIII!" - Yukari felt, again, defenceless, realising that
there was nothing she could do to stop it. - "No! NOT AGAIN!" - Yukari
yelled, her eyes where filled with tears.

~*~*~

Meanwhile, a black girl, black hair and eyes, waited her clients at a
table, in a little snack bar of New York city, when she too, was
sucked by the pillar of light. Letting all of the clients in shock.

~*~*~

Fanélia:

"Van, those ornaments are so beautiful! Aren't they?" - Farge pointed
to a huge table. On one of its extremes was a great basket full of
ornaments to their wedding day."

"Yes, but I have a felling that those are not going to be the ones
that we will use!"

"Nonsense! Why do you say that?"

"I do not quite know why!"

Then, three pillar of light hit Fanélia's soil.

The first one, falled right in the opposite corner of the table, from
where there were the ornaments. Launching them in the air, right into
Merle's face. She started grumbling.

The second falled into the small lagoon that was nearby.

And the third, ... well the third falled right on Van's arms. She was
the black one, and was wearing some jeans and a small yellow shirt.
She had a blue necklace, that covered her whole neck and she used some
great golden earrings.

"My ornaments are all ruined!" - Farge run into it and stared at the
broken ornaments.

"Your ornaments, your ornaments? What about me? That stupid think
smashed me!" - the two started fighting.

"Who are you?" - Van asked to the girl that he cared on. She stared at
him, and she looked completely fascinated. Her eyes shined with
admiration.

"You're a mirage!" - Christina put her hands around Van's neck. - "My
name's Christina! What's yours?" - Van blushed.

"Van, Van Fanel!

"What a beautiful name, it only could be from a handsome guy like
you!" - Van put her on the floor and gave a steps back.

"Sheet! I think my ass is broken!" - Van looked at the girl that had
falled on the table. She had white skin, dark hair and beautiful green
eyes. She pulled herself over, shaking her blue jeans, and curved
herself back.

"And who are you? - Marta looked at the place where the voice came
from. A tall and robust man, with dark hair and purple eyes waited for
an answer.

"My name's Marta, and you are..."

"YOUR MAJESTY! He is the King Van Slanzar de Fanel. Respect him for
it!" - said Merle arrogantly.

"A King? Well nice to meet you your majesty!" - Marta sarcastically
said, while making a low courtesy.

"The pleaser is all mine!" - Van made the same as her.

"Sorry to ask, but were are we?"

"Fanélia!"

"Fanélia, where is that?"

"On planet Gaea."

"Uou! Wait a minute, are you saying we are not on Earth anymore?" -
Christina was in shock.

"Yes, that's exactly what I am saying!"

"This is nonsense. I don't even have heard of this ... this ... Gaea!"
- Marta couldn't believe on what he was saying.

"Of course not. Gaea can not be seen from the Mystic Moon."

"Mystic Moon, what's that?" - asked Marta.

"It's Earth!"

"Hum! I get it! No I don't get it!" - Marta was getting nuts with this
stuff.

"Who the hell had the brilliant idea of putting a lagoon over there?"
- a voice came from behind them, they all locked up.

~*~*~

All of them (the five) turned around to see the third person that was
brought by the pillar of light. She was soaked till the bones. Her
pink dress, with the picture of some flowers was all ruined and,
stocked like glue, to her whole body. Happily it was not
semi-transparent, or it all would be a lot worst and embarrassing.

"HITOMI?!" - Van and Merle yelled at the same time.

Hitomi looked up and saw them, the ones that she missed so much. Then
she saw Farge grabbing Van's arm and she understood that coming back
was a big mistake.

Merle, was now wearing normal cloths, she had a white dress with a
orange bodice. She run to her (to Hitomi) and jumped, putting her arms
around her neck, and almost making her fall into the water once again.
Meanwhile, Van stayed stood, without any reaction.

"Your highness. I think that is not god for you to slaver to another
girl, with your fiancée nearby!" - Marta put her hands down Van's
chin, as if to catch his drool.

"You are very funny, little girl!" - Van said sarcastically. - "And
how do you know she is my fiancée?"

"I guessed! Maybe it's my six sense." - Marta made a scoffing smile.

Hitomi watched them, still in shock, while Christina locked from right
to left ... right to left, trying to understand what was going on.

"Welcome back, Hitomi!" - that wasn't what Van wanted to say, but was
the only thing that he could came up with.

"Who is this girl Van?" - Farge asked.

"A friend ... an old friend." - Farge didn't quite believed in that,
but she preferred to forget that little detail.

"Well Van! It lock's like we are going to have three more guest on our
wedding list!" - she said smiling.

"Yes, but before that, they'd better take a bath and change their
clothes. Let's go!" - the three nodded and fallowed Van, there was
when they noticed that, the three hadn't come `alone', and they saw
three bags. One from each one of them.

"How the hell did the bags come here?" - Christina asked.

"Who knows.!" - Hitomi said, still pissed of by seeing Farge grabbed
to Van. They picked up their bags and Van took them to their
respective rooms.

~*~*~

Marta enter on her room, closed the door and run into the bed. She
smiled, laying with her belly up.

"I always dreamed on sleeping in a bed like the ones from the
princesses!"

The bed was huge, made from expensive wood and had some white
curtains, pillows and sheets of the same colour.

Marta lifted herself up and watched the room. It had a door that
leaded to a bathroom, luxuriously decorated; a wardrobe with plenty
dresses, shoes and other stuffs. And also a big window. Marta opened
it and admired the beautiful view of Fanélia, leaning out of the
window.

"Hello!" - Merle appeared suddenly over the window, as she did to
Hitomi years before.

"Hello! Who are you?" - Marta questioned, still a little disturbed.
Merle went down and locked admired to Marta, putting a nail on her
mouth.

"Don't do that!" - Marta gave a slap on Merle's hand.

"What did you do that for?" - Merle locked angry.

"It's for your own good. To gnaw your nails it's bad, and I hate when
people do it on my presence."

" The disturbed ones can always move aside!" - Merle restarted gnawing
her nails. While Marta turned her back on her. - "Lock girl! Why
didn't you got scare?"

"Should I've got scared with you?"

"Hitomi and Christina got!"

"Well, it locks like I am not afraid of you. Besides I love cats!" -
Marta smiled.

"What's your name?" - Merle stopped gnawing her nails and locked at
Marta, that had seated down on the bed.

"Marta, and you are?"

"Merle! Marta it's a weird name! More than Christina."

"It's a Portuguese name!" - Marta affirmed, while locking firmly at
Merle.

"What's wrong? Why do you lock at me like that?"

"You're very pretty, do you know?" - Merle blushed. - "Are you going
to say, that no one had ever told you this?"

"No, but thanks!" - it was the first time that anyone had ever told
her that and she was quite disturbed. Most of the people feared her.
She was kind of liking this ... Marta.

"Merle!"

"Yes?"

"Help me choosing a dress!"

"OK!"

~*~*~

"Van!" - Van walked by the huge corridor that leaded him to the throne
room, when he listened to the calling of one of his friends, Allen
Schezar, that had came back from Asturia, recently. He still wear his
old uniform.

"Allen, you're back already?"

"Van, where is she?"

"Good afternoon Allen! It is also nice to see you!" - Van commented
sarcastically.

"Sorry, but some people told me that she came back. Is it true?"

"Yes, it is true! She is on her bedroom, at the end of the corridor!"
- Allen said nothing and went to Hitomi's bedroom.

"Your welcome!"" - Van yelled and continued his way.

~*~*~

Marta had finished her bath and was now with a towel around her body,
while Merle was picking up a dress for her to wear.

"What about this one?"

"I don't know Merle, I like pink or blue!"

"Then take this one!" - Merle picked up a beautiful white dress, with
a baby-blue bodice.

"All right! That will be!" - Marta picked it from Merle's hands and
was going to the bathroom.

"No need to run! I am also a woman!"

"That's not the point Merle!"

"Than, what is ..."

"Merle, are you in here?" - Van opened the bedroom's door without
knocking. Merle and Marta stayed with their mouths wide open. - "Ups!
Sorry, it was not on purpose!"

"You might be a king, but that doesn't give you the right to enter my
room without knocking!" - Marta expression was of indignation.

"Sorry! Merle, Allen and Celena had just arrived."

"Oh, good! Marta I'll came back in a minute!" - Merle run to the door
and went out, leaving Van and Marta alone.

"Do you have something to say to me, your majesty Van Slanzar de
Fanel?"

"No! And please, call me Van."

"Certainly, now please leave. I want to get dressed!" - Marta pointed
at the door and Van left. Marta sighed in relief, men put her tense.

~*~*~

Hitomi finished dressing herself and opened the door that leaded to
the huge corridor. She closed the door and started walking, heading to
the garden, where she could catch some air.

Merle had visited her and she told her about Van and Farge. In the
beginning she was chocked and hurt, but after she realised that, as
the years passed by, her love for Van had almost disappeared. What was
now, a great benefit to her. Otherwise, she would just be crying all
over the part.

"Hitomi!" - Hitomi was taken of her thoughts by the voice, and a hug
from Allen. - "I'm so glad your back! How did you come back?"

"Hi Allen, it's also nice to see you ... and ... to tell you the truth
... I don't have the slightest idea of how I got here!"

"Well, lock at you! You're a beautiful woman!" - Hitomi blushed, under
Allen's comment. She had the same haircut, but she was taller and ...
she locked much like a woman.

"Sorry! I didn't say it to ..."

"That's alright Allen! But you are still the same. Years don't pass by
you!"

"Thanks. Where were you going?"

"To the garden, I want to catch some fresh air!"

"Can I make you some company?"

"Of course!" - the two of them started walking.

~*~*~

"God dammit! I'm lost on this huge Palace!" - Christina wondered on
the corridor, without knowing were she was. She was now wearing a
yellow dress, with a dark-blue bodice.

"Are you lost girl?" - Marta had now left her room and was going
towards Christina.

"This Palace is enormous, and I can't find my way out! Oh, my name's
Christina."

"Nice to meet you! Mine's Marta!" - the two saluted each other and
started walking, trying to find the exit.

After some minutes, they saw Hitomi and Allen. Marta wanted to call
her, but she didn't know her name.

"Hei you! The girl from the lagoon!" - Hitomi looked back, to see
Christina and Marta running towards her.

"Girl from the lagoon?!" - interrogated Allen.

"It's a long story! And my name's Hitomi!"

"Nice to meet you!" - Christina saluted her and made a low courtesy to
Allen. He made the same as a thank.

"Nice to meet you Hitomi, can you tell me were can I find his majesty,
Van Slanzar de Fanel?"

"Why do you call him that? He hates it!"

"One more reason to do it!" - Marta smiled.

"I can take you to him!" - Allen, gentleman as always.

"I thank you sir ..."

"Allen! Allen Schezar, Asturian knight!"

"It's a pleasure to meet you, gentleman!" - Marta made e low courtesy.

"I don't wanna go with you! I prefer the garden!" - Christina.

"You don't like my company?" - asked Marta.

"That's not the point! But I'd like to get out of this labyrinth!"

"I'm going there too. The throne room is on the way. Let's go!" - the
four left, with Allen and Hitomi in front of the parade.

~*~*~

"Van, What's wrong? I know you for years and I've never seen you like
this!"

"It's nothing! Really Farge, you don't need to worry!"

"You can not cheat on me! Came on, you can trust me!"

"I know that Farge. It's just ..." - Van was interrupted when the door
was opened. Hitomi, Allen, Marta and Christina had just arrived.

Van was seating on the throne, with Farge beside him.

Only now, Marta had the opportunity to watch him closely. He was, as
they say in Portugal, "Um gajo todo bom" (+/-"A cute, handsome guy").
Marta smiled over her own thoughts.

"Allen, Hitomi?! What brought you here?"

"We are not the ones that want to talk to you!" - Allen firmed.

"Than who is?"

"Me, your majesty!" - Marta closed by and made a low courtesy.

"You again! I hate when you call me that!" - Van put one hand in front
of his face, showing his embarrassment.

"And why would I call you something else?"

"Cause I ask you for!"

"Well, Van Fanel ... I'd like to speak alone with you for a moment!"

"Stop it! It's Van, did I make myself clear? Van, Van, Van ..."

"But I like Van Fanel!"

"Ok! You're difficult to handle with! And what's the matter of the
conversation?"

"In private please!"

"Ok, but with two conditions. First, treat me by you, after all you're
my guest. And second, it's Van!"

"All right for me, Van ..."

"That's better!"

"... Fanel!"

"Oh, you big ..." - everyone started laughing, including Farge. Van
and Marta switched smiles.

Did you liked it or did you hated it? PLEASE E-Mail me. Critics are
always welcome.

Oh, and sorry for any error that's on it, cause I am not English, so
... forgive me. And one more thing, this is not one of those stories
were Hitomi and Van marry, have some kids, and fight in a war that's a
copy of the other (not that I've something against it, and so, if you
did one don't be mad at me). No, no and no. I am tired of seeing the
same story in every fan-fictions I read.

And sorry to all the lovers of Hitomi and Van's romance, but I've got
other plans. Especially for Hitomi.

Bye, till next chapter, and don't forget to e-mail me.
