Chapter Nine

"The Proposal"

Sakura was in shock. Syaoran has a girlfriend… already? She couldn't believe it.

Outside her door, Yugi overheard the conversation and gave a face of pity. Then, all of the sudden, he heard footsteps. Sakura was coming! He quickly got on his feet and headed for the stairs. After two steps, he tripped on his shoelace and fell down three stories. Sakura's eyes widened and ran after him.

Sakura: Hello? Are you all right?

She looked down the banister. She couldn't really see who it was.

Yugi: Umm (changes into deeper voice) yeah, I'm fine.

Sakura started walking down the stairs. She gasped.

Sakura: Yugi?

Evanescence's "My Immortal" Turns On

Yugi struggled to stand up. When he got up, he noticed tears in Sakura's eyes.

Yugi: Sakura…

Sakura ran away, not looking at him. Yugi hesitated and ran after her.

Sakura continued to run.
Yugi: SAKURA, WAIT!!

Sakura ignored him and headed for the Penguin Park. She hides behind a tree before Yugi saw her. He then stopped running and panted.

Yugi: Sakura! I know you're out there… I'm sorry!

Sakura wiped her tears.

Yugi: Look, I was coming to pick you up and I overheard what happened. I know it's none of my business, but…
Sakura: Shut up!
She walked away from the tree.

Sakura: You don't know how much Syaoran and I have been through.

Yugi: Which is exactly why you should go talk to him.

Sakura: But he's in China.

Yugi: Don't you remember, I have the power of teleportation?

Sakura smiled.

Sakura: It's almost three hours away from the New Year and you're willing to take me somewhere you've never been to just for me to talk to my ex?

Yugi smiled and nodded.

Sakura: Thank you!
She jumped at him and hugged him. Yugi blushed.

Music Fades

????: AHA!!

Sakura and Yugi jumped.

Yugi: Daisy?

The girl who had the first spirit walked towards them. Yugi blushed.

Daisy: You guys are going to Hong Kong?

Sakura: Yes.

Daisy: I wouldn't if I were you.

Yugi: Why?

Daisy: Well, I'm psychic.

Sakura and Yugi: WHAT?

Daisy: I know what will happen…

Sakura: What?
Daisy: I'm not allowed to reveal those things.

Yugi: Well come with us. I mean, the more the merrier, right?

He couldn't stop blushing.

Daisy: Sure, I mean, we haven't gotten the chance to talk.

Sakura: Okay.

Yugi: All right, let's hold hands.

Daisy, Sakura, and Yugi formed a triangle and held hands. In the blink of an eye, they vanished. When Sakura opened her eyes, she was in Hong Kong.

Sakura: Whoa! That was fast.

Yugi pointed to a mansion right in front of them.

Yugi: There he is. Daisy and I will wait here.

Sakura looked at Yugi.

Sakura: Thank you so much.

Yugi blushed.

Yugi: No problem. Good luck.

Sakura: Thanks.

She turned to the mansion and ran towards it. As she approached the door, a girl her age walked out. The girl was a beautiful, tall girl with dirty blonde hair and bright green eyes.

????: Hello.

Sakura: Uh…. Hi.

????: I'm Millenia. What's your name?

Sakura: Oh, sorry, I'm Sakura.

Millenia: The Sakura? Syaoran has told me so much about you, thank you.

Sakura: For what?

Millenia: For letting him go.

She showed her a ring on her finger.

Sakura: Y-You're…?

Millenia: Engaged! Well, I gotta go. Nice to meet you!!

Sakura's purse began beeping as Millenia headed for a car and left.
Sakura: Hmm…

The door opened. It was Syaoran.

Syaoran: Sakura?
Sakura: Hi.

Syaoran gazed at her.

Syaoran: Come in.

Sakura walked inside the mansion.

Syaoran: What're you doing here?
Sakura: I wanted to talk to you.

Syaoran: Okay…

Sakura: Why won't you talk to me? I'm not pregnant!

Syaoran: Because it's too late.

Sakura: Too late for what?

Syaoran: Us.

Sakura: Of course it is! You're engaged.

Syaoran: Not yet…

Sakura: Huh?
Syaoran sat down on his couch.

Sakura: What do you mean?

Syaoran: My mother has this tradition. I'm suppose to be a married man in two weeks. During these past few months, my mom did "auditions" to every girl in Hong Kong. She says Millenia is the winner.

Sakura: Oh…

All of the sudden, Syaoran grinned.

Syaoran: Unless…

Sakura: What?

Syaoran walked towards her and kneeled down. He grabbed her hand.

Syaoran: Will you marry me?

Sakura watched him in shock.

Sakura: What? I-I-I m-m-mean- what?

Syaoran: I love you and you coming back means you love me, let's get married.

Sakura: Syaoran… I don't know what to say.

Syaoran: Will you?

Sakura: First of all we haven't talked for months. Second of all I want a big wedding, which cannot be planned in two weeks. Third of all-

Syaoran: Who cares?

Sakura: I care! I want my whole family to see me when I'm married, I want to wear a beautiful dress, and I want a big party for wedding.

Syaoran: We can have it after, I promise. So will you marry me?

Sakura looked at him.

Sakura: I-I can't make that decision.

Syaoran's smile faded as he stood up.

Syaoran: I think you just did.

Sakura: I-I better go.

She headed for the door and walked out the door.

Syaoran: Sakura!

She turned around.

Syaoran: Have a nice life.

He slammed the door shut. Daisy and Yugi ran to her.

Daisy: Well…
Sakura walked pass them without saying anything.

Yugi: I guess it didn't go so well.

All of the sudden, Sakura's purse began beeping again.

Yugi: Huh?

Daisy's eyes widened.

Sakura opened her purse and saw her wand glowing.

Sakura: My wand? (Gasps) A spirit's nearby! Oh!

She had a flashback of something beeping in her purse on Syaoran's front door.

Sakura: Syaoran!!

The three of them ran inside the house. When they opened the door, they gasped. Syaoran was gone and there was a piece of blue paper. Yugi looked at it and opened it. It read: Loser! - Sapphire.

Yugi crumbled the piece of paper with his fist.

Yugi: Damn that bastard!

Sakura: What?
Yugi: Diamond knows it was Syaoran.

Daisy: Or does he?

Sakura and Yugi looked at her.

Sakura: What?
Daisy: Trust me. You'll find out.

She turned to Yugi.

Daisy: He's not far, follow me.

The three ran out of the house.

Meanwhile

A dark figure watched them head to the city.

????: Ha. Perfect. Both Yugi and Sapphire took the bait.

The figure smiled…
