***********************Kurama's pov*******************

He rushed at her, sword raised to strike when suddenly, a toddler in a blue suit, with a pacifier and jr. on his hat, appeared in midair between them. Hiei just managed to stop before the young prince of Reikai was struck, something that would certainly get him stuck in Makai prison for at least a couple of centuries. For once, on his face, frustration was easily readable for all to see. "we finish this later onna" he said. I chuckled softly; this was so unlike him, but Kagome…. She seems so familiar to me, I'll think about it later. The prospect of a good match was appealing for him, her earlier practice and her little fight in the park probably proved to him that she was a worthy opponent, something that hardly anyone every managed to do. Kagome had sheathed her sword and said to Koenma, "so toddler-sama, for what reason do we have the absolute honor of you presence?" she said it slowly and mockingly, as if speaking to a 3 year old, which Koenma did look like even though he was about as old as Kagome herself. To the reikai tentai's surprise, he didn't even try to correct her as he did Yusuke.

"I have another mission for you guys" he stated and added, "it seems that you have found the first part of it too" everyone's eyes, including mine fell on Kagome. I wonder how she is involved. But she has so much power that I wasn't really surprised. She just shrugged and the attention was focused back on the toddler "why didn't you just send Botan?" asked Yusuke "she's got a lot of souls to ferry after the massacre up in the north" he said, "so I'm here to deliver the message right here" "where is my cousin involved in this, the missions are really dangerous" said Yusuke, a snort was heard from Kagome, "no problem, I'm immortal anyway, so I can't die, I'd be more scared for my own life runt" she said simply `she's immortal?' I thought "no way! It's against my honor code to let girls fight," said Kuwabara, then as an afterthought, he grabbed her hands and said, "anyways, I think I'm in love" I suddenly felt a pang of jealousy,

`I wonder where that came from' I thought,

&Easy, she is perfect for me, I mean us, and she WILL be our mate&

I locked him up in a little closet in my mind but still pondered his words. I felt relieved as she snorted in disgust and threw him into a tree on the other side of the clearing. "Must be the idiot Kuwabaka, dam, what a fruitcake," she said to herself, but all of us heard her, everyone but Kuwabara, who was unconscious. I couldn't help but to chuckle and I swear I heard a snicker from Hiei while Yusuke outright roared in laughter. Koenma had a amused look on his face and said "please rouse Kuwabara, I need him to hear this too" "I'll be glad to toddler" I heard Kagome say as she crept up to his slumped form I saw a mischievous glint in her eyes

&Kami, I swear she would make a good kitsune&

`Yeah, I know' I involuntarily agreed

I watched, amused as she made a large blob of water and ice form above him and drop it on him. "WHAT HAPPENED?" he yelled out loud. I saw her wince at the sound and whack him squarely on the head "shut up, ya Neanderthal blob, do you want the whole school to hear!" I totally agree with that statement, he was so loud he scared almost all the nearby wildlife away. Koenma started talking again, "I know that Kagome is currently the guardian of the shikon no tama-"

& NANI! &

`What is the shikon no tama?'

&it is a legendary jewel, it is known to grant any wish to it's bearer and increase his/her's strength x100!&

`you tried to steal it didn't you'

&yes!, that's where I remember her!&

`but you didn't get the jewel'

&I couldn't stand to kill her, I love beautiful things&

`so you had to kill her to get the jewel?'

&yes, it is infused with her blood. Only if she dies by bleeding to death will it emerge, in the last drop&

`is that just another excuse because she was to powerful'

As my little conversation was going on in my head, Koenma was explaining to Yusuke and Kuwabara about the jewel. When he finished, Yusuke said, "what does this have to do with our new mission?" "well, I have just received information that the Shikon's sister jewel has reappeared, but now it is split in 8 pieces, scattered all over Makai and Ningenkai. Your job now is to retrieve it and fuse it into together again. I believe Kagome has the power to see them and fuse them. he directed that last bit at

Kagome, who nodded slowly, but she said first,

"what's in it for me?"

"always the smart one, father said that he could revive the tijiya, the monk and the little kitsune kit that were in your shard hunting group"

"And the firecat?"

"Yes"

"You've got yourself a deal"

I was pretty much lost but I had the vague idea that the jewel had been shattered and her group of `shard hunters' had brought it back together last time. They finished just in time to hear the bell ring. Startled, we ran back into the school.

*************************Hiei's pov**************************

When they had all left into that ningen learning center, I went to check on Yukina, my younger sister. I couldn't get that Kagome out of my head. I am pretty sure that she is a demon, a fox. She was hiding all her demonic features but my jagan could still sense her youki. She was so beautiful. `whoa, where did that come from' well, she is though. That long, silky hair, those soulful eyes, her strength, everything about her was perfect. She even managed to not only detect my jagen, but to repel it, something that no one had ever done. But even if I did acknowledge the fact that I was attracted to her, I am the forbidden child, born to be alone. Not even my own sister knows who I am. If she did, I'm afraid that she will shun me. Better have her as a friend and not a sister than have her hate me. Yukina was pure and innocent, me a heartless killer. I furiously started to slice at some trees with my katana, every time I couldn't protect her, I hated myself, maybe it would be better if she did know who I was and not keep her futile struggle to find her brother, when I was right under her nose, but I banished that thought out of my mind. I couldn't. I just couldn't. I turned my thoughts instead to our new mission. The shikon no tama and it's sister. This would prove to be very interesting. The demons would be much stronger under the influence of the jewel but that is just a better challenge. Youko could probably l one or two as well. And Kagome, she could sense them and fuse them. she was also guardian of the shikon. He was itching to spar with her. To test his skills against hers. He had never met a girl like her. She was so cold and bitter. Like him. I wonder if she was always like that, born like me, she had mentioned being a Miko, anyways, they were the only ones that could handle the jewel but she was also demon. Maybe she was shunned by both because of that. or maybe something else…

*************************Koenma pov**************************

I sure hope that giving them that mission was a good idea. Kagome is probably strong enough to do it herself but she's been so lonely for so long. Ever since that Inuyasha kid. Grrrr, I hate him!. But anyways, dad said that he would revive her friends, maybe she will finally be happy.

***********************Kagome's pov************************

This is great! I'm finally going to see Sango, Miroku, Shippo and Kirara again! And this time, there isn't that kisama to hurt any of us. I think I will finally be truly happy once again. Uggg, but I still have school, what a waste of time. I don't need the education. My job as an assassin already made me the richest demon in Makai. Oh well, if I hadn't come, I wouldn't have met Yusuke and his team. My couz is still as headstrong as ever. Ok. History class. Goddamit, I am history itself!. They read about it, I have to live through it!. and I will have to, forever. Immortality is not a gift, it's a curse. Man, my wings and tails are so cooped up sitting here for so long. Oh well, 5 more minutes till gym where I can finally stretch my wings and tails. They were talking about Nobunaga, the klutz I met and how he saved princess Tsuyu. Actually I was the one who defeated him, with hairspray and a lamp. But no one would believe me I said so. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, bringggggggggggg. Arggggg. So loud. I packed up with lightning fast speed and tore out the door, breathing a sigh of relief as I flapped my wings slowly, to get rid of the cramps and swished my tail. Ahhhh better. I put my stuff in my locker and pulled out some gym clothes. I didn't want all the ick and sweat on my regular clothing so I guess I would just wear the uniform for gym.

As I changed in the locker room, I noticed how stupidly revealing they were but ignored it and walked out, ignoring the catcalls form the boys and waited for the gym teacher to come. the boys were getting on my nerves now and so I went to stand beside Yusuke and his group. No one dared to come over now. God, this is so annoying. "Hey Kagome", said Yusuke "do you know how jealous you're getting the girls?" "that's their problem" I said indifferently, frankly, I didn't care what they thought. "what do we have today?" "dunno, think we're starting martial arts now" then he grinned stupidly I read his mind %now I can get the guys back for staring at Kagome % I said into his mind @thanx for the protective couz thing, but I can handle myself@ he looked at me and said, cockily, "don't you want them to get punished for that?" "tch, whatever, I wont stop you"

The gym teacher, finally coming said, "we will be starting our martial arts strand, will all who have experience in any type of martial arts, please come forward" Kuwabara, Yusuke, Kurama and I came up with a bunch of others, all boys. I snorted, "please partner up, try getting someone of your level" I turned to the guys, Kuwabara said instantly, "it's against my honor code to fight girls" I punched him squarely in the nose, causing him to be knocked out. I think I broke it too. I nudged him with my foot, no response. Sighing, I poured some Miko energy into him to heal his nose and wake him up. When he was up again, he said, "I'm going with Yusuke, I still need to beat him" I turned to Kurama, he nodded. I heard hissing behind me, I turned to see the girls of the `Suiichi Minamino' club I cocked an eyebrow at him, he sighed and ran his fingers through his long, red, hair and said "my fan club" I snickered and he said, "don't laugh at me just yet, you seem to have your own fan club too" sure enough, there were boys that were holding up signs with messages such as "will you go out with me?" and "meet you after school" I said telepathically to him @how do you stand them@ he looked at me, a bit surprised and smiled and answered $I don't, I run$

I smirked and dropped into a fighting stance, studying him as he did the same the gym teacher blew her whistle and we came at each other. As I fought, I kept studying his style, it was so familiar, but I couldn't place it. I frowned as I saw him flicker silver, but I dismissed it as an illusion. I was holding back, not wanting to hurt him but still giving him a hard time. I was aware that all eyes were focused on us and the teacher was gaping. A good reason too. We were both exceptional fighters but this couldn't go on. I saw an opening and swept his legs from under him and pinned him. Quite aware of how close we were. He said softly, "I yield" and I got off of him, holding down the blush with the emotionless mask I had perfected after centuries. When he got up, we bowed and walked away to applause but I ignored it. this was the last class of the day and I wanted to get a good shower. I was always liked to take showers and be clean. Lets just say, old habits die hard…
